Tell me something small that makes your life better

I go to the library every Tuesday and Friday, without fail. I bring my macbook and study books and earphones, and it really helps me focus, more so than I can at home, and so I get a lot more work done. Plus, I get to eat lunch in the café Smile. It helps break up the week (I'm at college Monday, Wednesday and Thursday), and makes it seem a bit more full.

What do you do?

Coffee. Honestly makes me happy

PegasusReturns · 22/10/2020 21:58

Flowers delivered weekly
Diptyque candles
Walks listening to audible

picklecustard · 22/10/2020 22:07

Coffee machine in the bedroom, fill it with water and put in the pod the night before so when I wake up I just press the button and have a coffee in bed with the tv on. Especially good with the cold and dark mornings coming.

Yoga
Meditation
My daughters smile
A latte 😃

There have been a few similar 'positive' threads on MN over the past few weeks and I'm saving them all to re-read when times get hard

For me it's my dog , having a cuddle , watching his happiness when he gets to play outside and walking him in the fresh air

Watching the birds on the garden and the squirrel who walks song the back of my fence

Kindle unlimited

Those wafer biscuit bars with Nutella filling with a nice cup of tea or coffee

Yellow Tail Malbec very slightly warm

Catching up with friends and family (even if just via WhatsApp)

Artykitty666 · 22/10/2020 22:30

At home , my dog walk! If I'm not arsed, i always end up grinning like a goon and delighted I went.

At work, it's challenging with infants who missed so much of nursery. When I'm stressed and it's not going to plan, I stop, and play and chat. It's so lovely to cuddle and get some time to breathe and enjoy their company rather than demand unachievable results from the wee things. I adore my 4-5 year olds for putting things in perspective.

Chocolate. Seriously, OP, don't deny yourself.
It is truly nectar of the gods.

StarlightLady · 23/10/2020 06:08

It lives in my bed side drawer and works on batteries!

SisterNight · 23/10/2020 09:40

Trees, I find them so calming and magnificent. Feeding and watching the birds and squirrels in my back garden. A perfect cup of earl grey. Baking (and then eating!) cakes, always better than shop bought.

@Enko he is possibly the cutest dog ever. Is he a basset hound?

Waking up early each day to have coffee and read the paper. I’m scrambled without it.

TH22 · 23/10/2020 10:48

Cuddles with my precious Dog. Cures all ails 💙

LeaveMyDamnJam · 23/10/2020 10:53

Long dog walks and daily cardio exercise.

Watching ‘The Good Life’

Wine.

RuudGullitOnAShed · 23/10/2020 11:06

Lovely idea for a thread.

Clean sheets.
A hot bath.
Using locally made honey scented soap.
The first cup of tea of the day.
My beautiful dogs. Both flawed rescues who came from awful places. Watching them enjoy life is such a pleasure.
Similarly my cats - seeing them blossom from terrified to cheeky gives me unending joy.
Not a small thing but having done a major declutter of my home gives me daily happiness.

Enko · 23/10/2020 11:41

@jennie0412 yes a Basset hound Lovely temperament and cuddly nosey cheeky and makes us laugh every day. Makes me go out daily too so all together something small that's good for me

Foghead · 23/10/2020 11:54

Getting up early, doing a bit of yoga (5-10 mins) and having a coffee in my favourite mug.

Getting ready for bed early so get into pjs, clean teeth, skincare all after dinner then I can relax late into the evening and just crawl into bed to read when I feel like getting into bed.

Getting out for a walk as often as I can.

Eating good food.

Serena1977 · 23/10/2020 12:28

Swimming, a nap, flowers, a good meal, cycling, clean sheets, cuddles with dh and DC.

riotlady · 23/10/2020 13:36

When DP is working an evening shift, I light a scented candle and make a little nest of blankets and pillows on the sofa and read my book or watch reality tv shows that he doesn’t like.

buckeejit · 23/10/2020 18:37

Wine!

Twix tops - the best biscuit ever!

Trees for me too, love a good tree.

Autumn colours everywhere.

Weekends when we have the fire on & candles burning.

A great book, especially if there's been no hype & it's an unexpected gem

Finding a great show to watch

My electric hot water bottle

Wireless earphones - audio books when walking

A nibbly meal - New Years is always at home with cheese, crackers, meats & chutneys. Yum!

The sea - we live 30 minutes from many beaches (NI) & I love how it always helps me.

Right now, the joy of a Friday evening & the possibilities of a dull weekend without having to work tomorrow

justeatavocado · 23/03/2021 14:00

Coffee.

Megan2018 · 23/03/2021 14:04

A cuddle in the stable with my horse after work before DD home from nursery. I don’t have much to do Mon-Fri stable jobs wise as on part livery and rarely able to ride but 10 mins of breathing in horse re-sets my brain. Heaven.
