I go to the library every Tuesday and Friday, without fail. I bring my macbook and study books and earphones, and it really helps me focus, more so than I can at home, and so I get a lot more work done. Plus, I get to eat lunch in the café Smile. It helps break up the week (I'm at college Monday, Wednesday and Thursday), and makes it seem a bit more full.

What do you do?

This might sound a bit barf-y but I write about an A5 page in a gratitude journal (cheap notebook from Wilko) every morning, first thing. Really focuses my mind and sets me up for the day ahead.

Lots here already mentioned..

My tea and toast every morning (for the last 50 years Smile)
My bed at night with the window open
A frothy coffee made in the dolce gusto a lovely mnetter gave me at start of lockdown
A nice chat with dh/dcs/friends
Clean washing billowing on the line
Finding a tenner in a pocket (rarely happens!!)
A tidy house, clean bed, washed hair..
A good book

My cats

Walking the dogs with friends. Fresh air, exercise and a good natter puts the world to rights. Followed by a cuppa when I get home!

Stringervest · 22/10/2020 09:11

Great quality coffee beans delivered on subscription and a home made flat white every morning.

  • cuddling with DH for 10-15 mins every morning in bed
  • fresh flowers every week. There's a florist just across the street & I love going there and picking flowers
  • anticipation of Christmas
  • new books

I've bought a new waterproof coat. It's from quite an expensive brand but I managed to nab one when they had 25% off. I go walking through the woods on my lunch hour and even if it is chucking down with rain I can pull on my wellies and coat and still get out to enjoy the woods. It's done wonders for my mental health as otherwise I spend all day stuck at my desk in a corner of my bedroom.

When kids are off school, they get in to my bed in the morning and watch TV whilst I snooze, everybody’s happy, warm and snuggly.

Parkmama · 22/10/2020 09:18

An oily bath, clean bedsheets, walking the dog in sunshine, reading stories to my children, making a roast dinner, reading the Sunday papers, dinner in a nice restaurant with my husband, an early night and ironing all the school uniform!

Londoncatshed · 22/10/2020 09:20

Love this thread. Thank you.

For me, I think it’s tea. Yorkshire tea, first cup, in bed in the morning.

I also feel at my best when the house is organised and tidy. It’s not at the moment and I’m struggling to get in the mood to tackle it. It is clean, but messy.

TheSweetestHalleluja · 22/10/2020 09:24

Such a lovely thread to read to start the day off positively!

For me lately, I've been loving snuggling down on the sofa with a good magazine. I've been reading the BBC Good Food one getting some new ideas for nice warming comfort food for the colder weather. And this time of year I love the Christmas magazines, getting to look at all the nice houses all decorated so beautifully.

I bought a wooden advent calendar this year and it has made me very happy!

fleapriest · 22/10/2020 09:25

The smell of my 7 year olds neck, it makes me feel all warm and glowy inside

EyeDrops · 22/10/2020 09:36

Tea. Particularly when you get it EXACTLY right - perfect strength and drunk when it's reached the perfect temperature - bliss.

Turning my pillow to the cool side.

DD2 - obviously DD1 makes me happy too, but DD2 is at that utterly gorgeous young toddler stage where everything is an absolute wonder to her. Her beaming smile is just everything.

Opening up my Thermos mug of nice coffee from home when I get into the office Smile

When my houseplant cuttings start making roots. When the cat's being all snuggly first thing in the morning in bed. About once every 2 months I'll find my self with 5 days off between shifts and I'll book myself in for a manicure round the corner. Only costs me a tenner but she makes all my nails the same length and so tidy and shiney (a skill I do not possess no matter how much I try!) Which I find incredibly satisfying.

tsmainsqueeze · 22/10/2020 20:41

What a lovely thread ,
A dog cuddled up either side of me .
Autumn.
Ice cold coke .
Flowers.
A new house type magazine.
A big safe cuddle from husband .
The sea.
A clean bed.
When my orchids flower again and again.

Runningshorts · 22/10/2020 20:58

Listening to an audiobook, I've really got into them plus it's free access through our local library.

jennie0412 · 22/10/2020 21:20

Porridge with honey.
Hot choc with marshmellow
A good novel

Pepperwand · 22/10/2020 21:40

Listening to my guided meditation playlist when I go to bed.

Scorching hot bubble bath.

Lying in bed and listening to the rain.

Hearing my two cheeky little boys giggling away at something or nothing.

Absolute rarity nowadays but buying a newspaper, going to a café for a latte and just sitting quietly to read it.

FloreanFortescue · 22/10/2020 21:41

The magnetic pencil pot that lives on the side of the fridge. Hands down the most reliable thing in my life Grin

Pepperwand · 22/10/2020 21:47

Oh thought of another one.... I have just started writing down recipes when I see them in a pretty notebook. It makes me feel very content.
