Tell me something small that makes your life better

I go to the library every Tuesday and Friday, without fail. I bring my macbook and study books and earphones, and it really helps me focus, more so than I can at home, and so I get a lot more work done. Plus, I get to eat lunch in the café Smile. It helps break up the week (I'm at college Monday, Wednesday and Thursday), and makes it seem a bit more full.

What do you do?

Buying a bird feeder thingy at the supermarket every weekend and hanging it in the tree I can see from the kitchen/dining window. We get all sorts of beautiful birds in that tree and it makes me ridiculously so happy to glimpse them whilst I'm doing boring things like packing lunchboxes etc.

An hours swim in a pool with blue underwater lighting while listening to some chill music on a waterproof Mp3 player - blissfully uplifting

jennie0412 · 21/10/2020 23:50

@mineofuselessinformation

Music - literally the thing in my life that can keep me going when no-one else is there. Trying to find the humour in things that would otherwise drag me down. Not small, but my children, even though they're grown-up or almost! (My life and my love.) 🥰
Ooh yes, I love music too! Making it, and listening to it! I listen to it from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to sleep, pretty much! What's your favourite song right now? Smile

can't believe no one has mentioned a P*S

ColleagueFromMars · 21/10/2020 23:54

My dog, time in nature around trees, feldenkrais (like very gentle yoga), and a bunch of roses from Sainsburys every 2 weeks!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/10/2020 23:59

My cat. She makes me laugh every day. And sometimes I catch DP singing her songs, which is lovely.

Blondiney · 22/10/2020 00:01

Perfume. First decision I make in the day is what perfume to wear to complement the weather, my clothes, my mood. I have an obnoxiously large collection so it does take a bit of thought but choosing the right one is incredibly satisfying.

MrsAvocet · 22/10/2020 00:04

Riding my bike. I am never happier, especially if its with my family, though I do love riding with friends or on my own too.
Also watching bike races, cleaning my bikes, reading about bikes, looking round bike shops and coaching the little kids at our club to ride bikes.
Oh, and I like cake too. Grin

mineofuselessinformation · 22/10/2020 00:04

@jennie0412 it varies depending on my mood, but because I'm oooold, a lot of stuff from the 80's, with a good bass line to it perks me up!

jennie0412 · 22/10/2020 00:06

When I have money, I'm making it a routine to have a perfume for every mood and season like @Blondiney, and to buy flowers every week like a few pp's Grin

Posh soap always makes me happy.
Nice towels, first cup of coffee, cat cuddles :)

grisen · 22/10/2020 00:07

@safariboot

The old duvet on the sofa. So snug.
My beloved sofa duvet! My partner hates it and puts it away every night but it’s my favourite!
jennie0412 · 22/10/2020 00:08

Oh, and a cat! Grin

Bingowin · 22/10/2020 00:11

@Snivelling I'm exactly the same!! I love bar soaps and always come back to Palmolive for the shower. It just smells so clean 😀

mineofuselessinformation · 22/10/2020 00:13

And another one - dc2 has the habit of bursting into song when they're happy - they take after my dad who is no longer with us, and it makes me smile. Smile
And my car, which was bought as a real treat. I've had if for five years now (to celebrate a milestone birthday), and still love it! It's bright red, very sporty, and totally unlike any of the 'sensible' cars that I had when I was married. Grin

jennie0412 · 22/10/2020 00:14

@mineofuselessinformation aww, that's so sweet! I'm sorry about your dad but I'm glad you have happy memories to look back on Flowers

Lurpak Spreadable

grisen · 22/10/2020 00:16

Although what truly makes my life better is the flowers my partner brings me every week or so and my Sunday mornings. Me and my one year old drop his dad off at work and go to the park for an hour or two, watch the birds and play in the play area before coming home for cuddles and a LOONG nap.

SueGeneris · 22/10/2020 00:16

Looking out of the window of my home office at the handsome black walnut tree and my two holly trees against the sky, watching the wood pigeons eat berries, the magpies search for nesting material, the squirrels chasing up and down the branches, and the amber leaves being thrown in the air by the autumn breeze.

SanFrancisco49er · 22/10/2020 00:29

A glass of ice cold, fresh orange juice every morning. I'm pregnant, 3rd trimester, not sleeping well and it really refreshes me and helps me wake up.
I also love my bubble bath that my husband runs for me every night...the bubbles smell so good I scoop them up in my hands and just sniff them in a happy haze :)

jennie0412 · 22/10/2020 00:33

@SanFrancisco49er stop! You're making my sensitive teeth ache Envy(not envy) Grin

Duvet on the sofa is just bliss! Especially with a hot water bottle and at least one dog to snuggle.

Gosh, this sounds magical!
AestheticWitch · 22/10/2020 00:41

Fresh out of the oven bread and real butter and a cup of Assam tea.

Gu salted caramel cheesecake.

A frosty morning (not quite now)

Electric blanket

catlovingdoctor · 22/10/2020 00:47

Electric blanket for me too! I've just put mine on this week and it's lovely to get into bed and feel toasty.

A cup of camomile tea before bed, and coffee first thing.
