If you have the flu vaccine, do you feel rough a few days later?

I had mine 4 days ago and now I feel crap.
I was wondering whether it was coincidence or not.
The nurses I work with often say they feel rubbish afterwards, headache, run down, tired.
But I've just looked into the vaccine and it isn't a live vaccination and the side effects stated on the NHS website are just localised pain and swelling.

I wonder how others felt after?

Absolutely fine. This year's and last year's. Slight arm ache but I'm good otherwise.

Twickerhun · 19/10/2020 19:22

Apparently you can have a mild fever after. I’ve sometimes felt a bit groggy a couple of days later

dingledongle · 19/10/2020 19:22

I had a headache two days after, felt a bit bleurgh and then ok 😊

Yes, I sometimes feel a bit rubbish. DSis said she felt rough after her jab last week too.

Bollss · 19/10/2020 19:23

I have done previously but was absolutely fine this time.

ajandjjmum · 19/10/2020 19:23

I had my first flu jab last Wednesday. Over the weekend and this morning, I've had a fuzzy head on and off - wondered if it might be that.

It did say on the bumph that a headache was a possible side effect.

MIL would never have the flu jab, as she said it always made her ill. Sadly she died of Covid in May.

Kittywampus · 19/10/2020 19:23

I felt tired for a few days after mine.

wendz86 · 19/10/2020 19:23

I haven’t been affected by it before apart from achy arm .

ShortFatandDumpy · 19/10/2020 19:24

No. Arm tender at exact spot needle went in.

No illness or feeling iffy though.

Jolonglegs · 19/10/2020 19:24

Just an aching arm that day, but aferwards fine.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 19/10/2020 19:25

I had mine on Saturday and same effects as usual....really sore arm in about 4-6 hours, sometimes a lovely red flushing around the jab, sometimes a nice hard bump.

Then usually by bedtime my neck gland goes up on the same side, sometime armpit one too ...have had jab in both arms on different years and same happens on either side!

Lastly I feel very weary and tired, so usually feel the need for a couple of early nights

Have had two lazy days and feel fine now!

SippeeTippee · 19/10/2020 19:26

@ajandjjmum Flowers for your MIL

olivo · 19/10/2020 19:27

No, I've never had side effects. Had this one on Thursday and all fine.

Cecilia2016 · 19/10/2020 19:28

When I had mine last year I was very ill for 4 weeks. But this year I had it nearly 2 weeks ago and only a bit sore on my arm for few days.

CovidStoleTheRainbow · 19/10/2020 19:28

My glands are up slightly, I just had a light bulb moment that it was the vaccination.

Which I really hope it is, I was getting peed off at the thought of getting a real illness.

I think everyone fears the regular virus now because of the impact it has until you can prove it isn't covid!

Slight arm ache, then 4 days later a full day of sneezing, headache, feeling like I had a really bad cold, very tired and drained but the next day I was fine!

RedMarauder · 19/10/2020 19:31

Yep I felt crap.

I checked with those I know who had them for a few years, and some years they have minor side effects.

NurseNancyandDoctorDavid · 19/10/2020 19:33

Had mine last Wednesday, completely forgot, no arm ache, bruise or side effects.

fucknuckle · 19/10/2020 19:44

i had mine 2 weeks ago. for the last few days i’ve had such bad fatigue that i’ve been sleeping 16 hours a day (i’m disabled and don’t work) and have now actually ordered a home covid test as i’ve got a temperature, headache, upset stomach and a weird taste in my mouth.

i thought it was flu jab related - it probably isn’t, and it’s probably not covid either but my goodness i feel like shit.

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/10/2020 20:14

I never get anything.

user675761 · 19/10/2020 20:19

I had a sore arm for a few days and felt flu like symptoms about 2 days after.

mindutopia · 19/10/2020 20:21

No, I get it every year and have never felt anything but fine after (I had mine on Saturday). If you have a particularly strong immune response, you can sometimes feel a bit like you are fighting off something. Obviously if you just happen to get a cold at the same time (possible if you are in a surgery with lots of other potentially ill people, that’s probably less likely this year given infection control measures), you could pick up something and that’s just unlucky.

Kaiserin · 19/10/2020 20:22

Typically my arm feels tender for about half a day, then I feel a bit shit for a day or two (headache, tiredness, brain fog), then I'm fine.

Floralnomad · 19/10/2020 20:23

Aside from a lumpy arm I had no side effects, and nor have dh , ds or dsis who have had theirs .

emptyplinth · 19/10/2020 20:23

Previous years yes, this year no issues at all
