If you have the flu vaccine, do you feel rough a few days later?

I had mine 4 days ago and now I feel crap.
I was wondering whether it was coincidence or not.
The nurses I work with often say they feel rubbish afterwards, headache, run down, tired.
But I've just looked into the vaccine and it isn't a live vaccination and the side effects stated on the NHS website are just localised pain and swelling.

I wonder how others felt after?

Nope, had mine a few weeks and besides a sore arm for a day nothing else. Husband was fine too.

isolationagain · 20/10/2020 23:39

Had it for six years without symptoms,

This year I felt crap the next day and for two more days; very fatigued. And I had a blister on my arm at the site of the injection.

justasking111 · 20/10/2020 23:43

Only once did I have more than a sore arm. I felt rough, as if I was coming down with a cold, had a duvet day. Woke up the next morning absolutely fine.

I had a bit of a sore arm afterwards, nothing else. I get the flu shot every year - never had any other reaction.

I had my allergy shots in the other arm, and that was much more sore.

CovidStoleTheRainbow · 21/10/2020 08:20

I still feel like absolute crap.

I'm at work and I really want to go home.

Yes, felt a bit off next few days and have now got cold.

Summer70 · 21/10/2020 21:03

Had mine Friday & then Monday felt really spaced out & tired. Achy & lethargic Tue & today, but of a sore throat. Hoping an early night will sort me out!

Plussizejumpsuit · 21/10/2020 21:06

I did the 1st year but not this year. My arm didn't even hurt actually this time. Not sure if it was a first time thing last year or just got lucky this year. I'll see next year... The pneumonia one though! Felt like I had actual flu!

minnie465 · 21/10/2020 21:07

Got it last Tuesday. Not even a sore arm!
Last year I had a sore arm and felt a bit rough for a few days. Though I think I had a cold coming on when I got it so I probably should have waited!

LoveFall · 21/10/2020 21:24

I have received the flu shot for decades because I have asthma and also worked in healthcare. I usually got a sore arm that went away in about two days. This year I had the vaccine with an adjuvant (Fluad). My arm got sore, but a little less. I did feel a bit achey all over for a day, but that was all. I am now back to normal less than a week later.

The pharmacist who gave me the injection said I might feel a bit off as the adjuvant increases the immune response. I got that version for the first time as I turned 65 this year.

TidyOmlette · 21/10/2020 21:27

Had it Saturday, slight headache for two days with a bit of muscle ache but nothing requiring pain relief.

callistography · 21/10/2020 21:33

I always feel bad after it.
This time around I've really didn't feel good for about a week. Very very tired, coldy and just wanted to curl up and go to sleep.

hedgehogger1 · 21/10/2020 21:33

I did feel ill once (have it every single year). Was convinced I'd managed to catch flu. Turned out I had pneumonia, completely unrelated.

Caeruleanblue · 21/10/2020 21:34

I've had the jab this year and was told symptoms, if there were any, would appear after 10 days or so. Something to do with the time it takes the body to form a reaction. So there shouldn't be anything after 4 days.

Fittata · 21/10/2020 21:45

I've had the flu jab every year for the last 15 years and ALWAYS feel ill afterwards, I get nauseous, chills, fatigue, headache every single time. Its definitely not a coincidence for me. However, this year, for the first time ever I've had no side effects at all.

remaininshroud · 21/10/2020 21:50

No, I haven't experienced a bad reaction to the flu jab but even if I had, I'd still get one. So worth it!

CovidStoleTheRainbow · 22/10/2020 06:38

Today is the first day I've felt well.

I felt like a zombie yesterday, looked in the mirror at work and actually got a shock at how horrific I looked.
Then come 2pm I started to feel a bit better, by 6pm I started to feel normal and finally it's gone.

I never want the flu jab again.

DinosApple · 22/10/2020 06:45

Very rarely I've felt ill afterwards, but mowing if it wa the jab or whether already had something brewing is tricky.

However, I always have the jab as I once had flu and was very unwell and off work for six weeks (as a fit healthy 20yo).

StillDumDeDumming · 22/10/2020 06:45

Last year nothing. This year I did feel rough and really tired. My dp went straight to sleep and struggled to stay awake the rest of the day. Terrible headache and lost his right hand - he’s a stroke survivor so it’s his weak side. Next day completely fine.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 22/10/2020 06:50

I did this year. Shivery, tired, nautious, headache, swollen lymph nodes.

DinosApple · 22/10/2020 07:02

Hmm knowing not mowing!

SniffyMiffy · 22/10/2020 07:13

All four of us (adults and teens) have had one over the last month and to my surprise three of us felt pretty urgh for a couple of days... dizzy, achy, raised glands. Plus a sore arm too.

A lot of people think they have reacted when they have probably just caught a cold. It is cold season after all.

I posted pretty much this upthread. I also think people expect to feel ill.

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/10/2020 08:53

Yes, I think people expect to feel ill. You never get moaning about the hep vaccines.
