If you have the flu vaccine, do you feel rough a few days later?

I had mine 4 days ago and now I feel crap.
I was wondering whether it was coincidence or not.
The nurses I work with often say they feel rubbish afterwards, headache, run down, tired.
But I've just looked into the vaccine and it isn't a live vaccination and the side effects stated on the NHS website are just localised pain and swelling.

I wonder how others felt after?

I had it for the first time about a month ago - my arm was not sore at all however I did feel rough yes - glands up, soreish throat and a bit of a cold - pharmacist said you can feel rough as the body is making anti-bodies. My friend had it for the first time too - just a sore arm nothing else and another friend had it for the 2nd time recently and no side effects at all. I would say it was about 3 days I felt rough.

EricBlairsHair · 19/10/2020 20:37

Nope, nothing. No achy arm or any side effects.

ExclamationPerfume · 19/10/2020 20:38

No symptoms whatsoever not even an achy arm.

No. My arm hurt for a day or so but that was all. I might have been tired, but I had it at the start of a night shift so was obviously tired anyway!

Oryxx · 19/10/2020 21:57

I had a very painful arm for several days but no temperature or anything.

Penny31 · 19/10/2020 23:22

Had mine on Friday. I’ve felt hot and generally off. Asthma has flared up and I’ve got a slight cough. Happens most years. One year I ended up in hospital with a nasty chest infection. BUT I reckon it’s better than getting full blown flu.

DamitJanet · 20/10/2020 06:54

I have it every year and have always felt fine after.

Digeridont · 20/10/2020 07:00

This year I had a very sore arm, worse than usual. It woke me up every time I rolled on to it in bed for three nights. But no other reactions.

Mistigri · 20/10/2020 07:02

I have it every year and have never had any reaction at all.

passthemustard · 20/10/2020 07:05

I normally have a flu jab every year and have never had a reaction. Always a little bit of pain at the injection site and that's it.
This year my arm was killing me and I felt rubbish for about 4 days, headache, low grade fever, exhausted and miserable. But I'm 30 weeks pregnant and I've never had it while pregnant before so 🤷🏼‍♀️?

Bluesheep8 · 20/10/2020 08:47

I've had the flu jab every year since it's been available. Never had any symptoms afterwards. It's not a live vaccine so wouldn't cause symptoms. It's coincidence - people who feel ill would have felt I'll anyway.

I'm beginning to think this. My middle DC is off school today with all the same symptoms.

felt ill. It's definitely coincidence, think about the time of year we have the flu jab - change of season, coughs, colds sniffles just happen anyway. Add mind over matter into the mix, ie people waiting/expecting to feel off colour and there you go.

Doodlepip23 · 20/10/2020 09:08

As PP said, it’s not a live vaccine so is probably a coincidence - unless it is an adverse reaction to the ingredients in the vaccine. I’ve been having it for years with no issues.

Bouledeneige · 20/10/2020 09:09

No I haven't had any effects the two times I've had it.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 20/10/2020 09:11

I had mine on Fri. On Sunday I was dog tired and yesterday mild cold symptoms. However DC1 came home from school yesterday with a streaming nose, so I assume it's just coincidence and we have a mild virus of some kind.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 20/10/2020 10:40

Apart from a slightly sore arm for a day or two, I’ve never had a reaction.

Having had real, knock-your-stuffing-right-out for-3-weeks-plus flu just once, though, I’d still have the jab it even if it meant feeling crap for a few days.

Rosalisa · 20/10/2020 10:43

I felt awful. Don't think I'll bother this year. I live alone and rarely go out. When I do it's only to a shop and I'm in a mask with copious hand sanitiser.

Flossie44 · 20/10/2020 10:46

Yes!! Every year! And I’m usually quite hardy.
This year I had awful headache and general aches for about a week afterwards.
I spoke to a pharmacist about it and was told despite it being a dead vaccine, it’s your body’s immune response to the vaccination.

timeforawine · 20/10/2020 10:50

Had mine just over a week ago and felt snuffly and achy for about 3 days, arm bruised for around 5 days

capercaillie · 20/10/2020 10:50

Had mine last week. Sore bruised arm and felt tired/under the weather for a few days. I've had that type of reaction before and assuming it's the immune response kicking in...

Clawdy · 20/10/2020 11:43

I was fine, apart from sore arm. DH felt lousy for about three days, headaches and fatigue, and that happens most years for him.

Funkypolar · 20/10/2020 11:45

I had projectile vomiting the next day.

StandardPoodle · 20/10/2020 19:12

Very sore arm that day, then slightly sore for a couple of days but no other side effects.

Roselilly36 · 20/10/2020 19:23

No side effects at all from mine.
