For me it’s blinds. Any kind. I flip them round the wrong way, send them sailing across the window when I’m trying to let light in, I break the beads, I get the strings knotted.

I’ve also tried to learn to knit 4 times and haven’t ever got beyond a few knotted rows with huge holes in.

Ooh and dance. I just can’t. If I’m leathered I’ll fling myself about but I die inside if people try to drag me up to dance. I find it so awful

Porcupine83 · 16/10/2020 18:45

Tying a knot in the end of a balloon. Always had to ask an adult to do it for me, but then at my son’s first proper birthday party last year, I realised I was the adult Sad

Making Yorkshire puddings

Adulting. Apparently this is good because I'm a 'cool mum' Grin

Men. Romantically.

Don’t know how to negotiate dating, expressing interest, realising there is interest, I can only flirt when I don’t realise I’m flirting...I’m just totally hopeless. And that’s why I’m single at 36. Really popular with guys as a friend or acquaintance, really unsuccessful in my love life and constantly wondering “WTF?” Confused

I’d literally never have had a relationship were it not for being friends with my ex first and him just sort of grabbing me one day. Ok that sounds bad but I do sometimes feel like I need a guy to shake me and say “I LOVE YOU STOOOPID” before I have the slightest clue. I need it spelled out that clearly, otherwise I totally miss it and think no one is interested ever. Or sometimes I think someone is interested but they are just being nice and friendly.

I wasn’t all that far off of 30 before I finally got to go on my first date Blush.

I really like someone atm and I have no idea how to get from this stage to the next
with him and I get the impression that he’s either not interested OR he is and I’m making it somehow impossible for him. I just get stuck and have no idea what to do.

People tend to be surprised that I am rubbish at ordinary hairstyles as I have 3 daughters.

I am absolutely rubbish at getting to know someone but when I do well I am very chatty 😂

Cannot describe anything. I can never find the words aside from whatever colour it is as long as its a normal colour..

Oh and knowing when to think before I speak in the worst possible scenarios 😂

I can't ride a bike - glad I'm not the only one out there!
Languages! I'm desperate to learn Italian because of Italian family - I've done classes, online, watched films etc etc. Im fine whilst I'm doing it (best was during furlough as I was doing an hour a day of Babel) but 2 weeks later and I can barely remember how to count to ten. I learnt French from the age of 3 through to yr9, parent sought me French puzzle books etc now I can't even order a croissant in a bakery. Studied German to GCSE and nothing. Got a Latin GCSE (A*) and within a year I couldn't remember a thing! It really upsets me.

Singing in tune. I would dearly love to be able to sing along with everyone else in church at weddings and Christmas, but I just can't hold a note. Everyone else can do it. Why can't I?

Daisydoesnt · 16/10/2020 19:10

Half pass. If you know, you know......

I’m confused by other posters references to this; I’m assuming you’re talking dressage? I always found the comparisons to shoulder in completely unhelpful- they’re totally different movements/ feelings.

Cleaning glass - you just need water and a spotlessly clean cloth (wash the glass, then polish dry with clean cloth).

I can’t dance and die inside when I have to.

Kiki275 · 16/10/2020 19:12

Cooking an omelette. I can manage to have it both over and uncooked at the same time x

tearstainedbakes · 16/10/2020 19:13

Reading a spreadsheet when it's used for certain things.

My colleague finds me so frustrating but when she puts stuff on a spreadsheet I have to spend ages translating each point into a different format so that I can visualise what she means. It takes four times as long as just writing it down

Yes, dressage! The only thing that helps me get the feel of it in my mind is travers. I 'get' travers, so I just think that and then hope for the best but the movement just feels all kinds of wrong and unnatural and not at all intuitive, like shoulder in, leg yield etc.
butterpuffed · 16/10/2020 19:15

Opening bottles of bleach. I just can't get the hang of pressing the two bits of plastic at the sides of the cap and turning. I have to use brute force Confused

Nouns, adjectives, verbs... my brain has never stored which is which! I’m bright, have a good degree in a subject with lots of writing and was ‘top group’ English, but somehow I’ve just never been able to learn this

Redbrook · 16/10/2020 19:22

I can’t do left and right without looking at my hands, and I can only do it then if I’ve got my wedding ring on.

Nail varnish.

Setting the thermostat on the central heating.
