For me it’s blinds. Any kind. I flip them round the wrong way, send them sailing across the window when I’m trying to let light in, I break the beads, I get the strings knotted.

I’ve also tried to learn to knit 4 times and haven’t ever got beyond a few knotted rows with huge holes in.

I just cannot reverse park to save my life. I'm a good driver so long as I'm going forward, but put that thing in reverse and god help me.

ANoTail · 16/10/2020 16:27

Whistling.
Make up (nieces and nephews will attest that I am very good at face painting, however).
Any hairstyle more complicated than plaits.

French. I had 12 years of French lessons from Reception to GCSE and it still sounds like one long bowel sounds. Oddly enough, I picked up Spanish and German very quickly.

LightDrizzle · 16/10/2020 16:28

French plaiting my Dds’ hair. My non-French plaits were often a bit wonky too.
I don’t know how people manage to do it with only two hands!

dementedma · 16/10/2020 16:32

Tying shoelaces the way most people do. Have to do two loops in a bow.

Muffinhead12 · 16/10/2020 16:32

Swimming. A really annoying one because I think I would love it, but I could just never get the hang of it and was always a bit scared of the water.

nosswith · 16/10/2020 16:33

Heights unless they are enclosed spaces.

dancejumpdance · 16/10/2020 16:34

Folding fitted sheets. I just can't do them neatly 😀

Bromley4ever · 16/10/2020 16:36

Cooking in general, especially baking

M0mmyneedswine · 16/10/2020 16:41

Clicking my fingers and tying shoes the usual way, i make 2 loops and tie them together. All my dc can do both

WizardOfAus · 16/10/2020 16:41

Wakeboarding.

NotExactlyMrsCurrentAffairs · 16/10/2020 16:44

Making cheese sauce, mine always separates no matter what I do.
Baking cakes, undercooked, overcooked, sunken in, everything, I just can't get it right.
Crocheting, I'm ok until I lapse concentration, make a mistake, then the whole lot's fucked, I can't seem to put it right so give up.
I can't apply make up well either.

dontmesswiththeGC · 16/10/2020 16:47

Diving. Loved swimming as a kid and was quite good at it but just couldn't get my body to go in the water head first.

Ragwort · 16/10/2020 16:51

Anything to do with technology, I am lucky enough to have an iPad and an iPhone but I can barely use them, no one (not even my teenage DS) will show me properly and I am sick of being told 'they are so intuitive' Hmm.

At least I can manage to find Mumsnet on them Grin.

Cakeismyhero · 16/10/2020 16:53

@Othering

Half pass. If you know, you know......
Totally understand! For be it's getting b and d the right way round, I have to really concentrate and still often get it wrong!

Excel.
Make-up
Cracking eggs. I either don’t crack enough or crack too much.

formerbabe · 16/10/2020 16:57

Small talk

MrsMoastyToasty · 16/10/2020 17:01

Chess. Its the way that different pieces can do different moves and there's no finish line. ...that and the fact that they aren't called the horsey one, the castle-y one etc.

FelicityPike · 16/10/2020 17:02

Crocheting. I’ve tried & tried.....gutted.

CMOTDibbler · 16/10/2020 17:04

Social chit chat. I am absolutely rubbish at it

Nicolastuffedone · 16/10/2020 17:05

Maths.....cannot understand it all
Map reading....I just can’t do it

monkeyonthetable · 16/10/2020 17:05

Loads of things. Maths, singing in tune, driving, making a good first impression, losing weight.

Coniferhedge · 16/10/2020 17:06

Knitting. I can crochet no problem but knitting leaves me completely stumped.

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 16/10/2020 17:07

I reckon I can pass at most of the previous, cannot do chopsticks to save my life!

BathPearlsAndABritneyCD · 16/10/2020 17:16

@lazylinguist

Reading Ordnance Survey maps. I'm bad with maps and directions in general, but OS maps just don't make sense to me! It's annoying because I live on the edge of the Lake District and walk a lot, so OS maps are potentially very useful.

I am a very keen knitter though. Everyone starts with knots and holes, OP. How long did you persevere on each of your 4 tries? Grin

Maybe not long enough! My mum and 3 different friends have attempted to show me and I feel like I’m just making clumsy jabbing movements 😭

Not sure I’d be any good with maps either - but it must be lovely living so close to the Lakes!
