...is it possible for girl cats to be pretty and boy cats to be handsome ? Or are cats just cats, regardless of any positive facial features ? My Mum used to describe females as 'pretty pussycats' which I found to be a bit twee, in the nicest possible way. I don't know what she thought of tom cats.

There used to be some photo quiz type things online, photos of cats and you had to pick whether they were male or female. It was easy to tell.

My boys have all been handsome lads and my little girl was a pretty little thing, however kittens and youngsters do tend to be pretty anyway regardless of sex.

It's really interesting how easy it is to tell the sex of an adult cat. Despite neutering.

We have a fluffy, delicate (looking.. fairy elephant when walking and rubbish at jumping!), pretty girlcat, and a much more solid looking (and yet lands completely silently on the worktop because he knows he's not allowed up there) handsome boy.

Ours, despite being siblings, do have a dramatic difference in looks, but other cats I don't think you'd tell - the tabby and calico that come around to see ours I've no idea if they're boys or girls, could be either (also both good-looking cats all the same)

They’re handsome little guys for sure, but in contrast to the female cats I’ve had, these two have proper big bonces.

Ours too - paws and head on boycat are huge compared to girlcat.

You can telly my cat is a girl just from her face.

Having said that, our other cat was a girl but a real tomboy and most people assumed she was a boy.

In fact, for the first few weeks of her life, she was classified as a male and given a male name!

I think if you have one of each side by side it's easier as boys tend to be bigger. I have two tiny cats but even so the boy cat is much bigger than the girl. And he's 3.2kg!
