Do you have an unfortunate name? Or know someone else that does?

It's been drawn to my attention by DH this week, that because of my habit of trailing the end of the word away to a squiggle when I'm signing my name, I've been signing everything as TWat_ for quite a while. He found this hilarious.

And I can't even blame him for his unfortunate surname beginning as I was another name beginning with Wat...before I married.

I know someone called Robin Banks and a man called Terry Bell lives in our village.

TartanDMs · 11/10/2020 01:30

I worked with a woman called Daria Flynn-Stone years ago, she had been Daria Flynn before marriage to Mr Stone. I assume she had a sense of humour because she must have chosen to double barrel her name.

Our next door neighbour when i was growing up was Vernon Strange. He was quite odd, you never saw him and his curtains were always closed. Every window.

@BlackberrySky

I once came across an American man called Randy Bumgardner. Always had a giggle at that one!

I used to know a Robin Hood.

In the rural area I live in there are two Robin Hoods - although one is a female, so Robyn.

Pratt and Cox are very common names here, no-one thinks anything of it!

There is a family called Schat - I always hoped I never had to phone them and ask for one of them by name, then I found out it is pronounced Skat.

ImFree2doasiwant · 11/10/2020 08:06

I know someone called Alexa. Not an inert ate name as such, but it must be such a pain in the backside these days.

Lemonylemony · 11/10/2020 08:20

Not sure that’s any better tbh!

cherrybakewelllll · 11/10/2020 08:25

LittleTiger007 · 11/10/2020 10:31

I know a sweet young lady called Youme

Her parents looked into each other’s eyes and said: “it’s because you and me made her” ... they then split up before she was in school and she’s saddled with the name.
