It was against the guidence 1-2 m, no more than 6 people, this was in July. It was all over facebook.

I must admit we'd be doing it more if we were WFH, we are going out far less than we used to because self isolation is a problem for our workplaces.

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 08/10/2020 08:31

We went out for lunch on Saturday, and next Saturday we are going on a day time birthday pub crawl with about a dozen friends. I'm not in the UK though, and there is no Covid here so its safe.

weepingwillow22 · 08/10/2020 08:34

On the last sunny warm day a couple of weeks ago. I am quite happy to eat outside but don't feel going out to eat indoors is worth the risk.

Shoxfordian · 08/10/2020 08:58

A couple of weeks ago
We're going out for lunch on Sunday
Been going regularly to pubs

Ghostlyglow · 08/10/2020 09:00

Went for lunch yesterday

carrythecan · 08/10/2020 09:05

Thank you Hopefulhalf, but unfortunately the government help does not go anywhere near far enough to prevent the inevitable closures and redundancies across our industry.

Whilst I agree that we all need to asses and monitor the risks for ourselves, I really do think that the bigger picture, to balance the affect on the economy, also needs to be viewed. I believe visiting properly managed pubs, bars, restaurants etc. is an acceptable risk for most people and provides vital income for the economy.

JustCallMeGriffin · 08/10/2020 09:28

Last year. Having worked behind the scenes in pub/restaurants/mass catering I really struggle to forget some of the mundane stuff I saw from the food preparation that I wouldn't be happy with at home.

Nothing that would get them closed down, just stuff that makes me twitchy so I've always struggled to enjoy food from commercial kitchens and only endure it for nights out with friends.

Covid makes zero impact on my decision to not eat out.

knittingaddict · 08/10/2020 09:41

We went to a pub and a tea shop a week ago and it was lovely. However we are only eating outside, so our days of eating out are numbered.

SurreyHillsGirl · 08/10/2020 09:43

Saturday. DH and I took the dogs for a long walk and then had lunch at our local pub, we had to book a week ahead though! It is always busy. The atmosphere is still as lovely as ever, Covid hasn't managed to destroy the cosy feeling that they have taken so much care to cultivate.

We will be going back on Friday evening.

PaperMonster · 08/10/2020 09:44

Went to a cafe on Saturday.

@LadyCatStark

About 2 weeks ago. Doesn’t look like we’ll be going again for a while if they bring in the same restrictions as Scotland (just for the North of course, the South can all go and hang out together 😡)
Why would you want to further damage the NATIONAL economy by shutting things down in areas with low infection rates?

Yes, I'm in the South

No, I'm not 'hanging out' with people.

I'd be happier if they shut more down here as our rates are increasing, but at the same time I don't want people to lose their jobs/businesses unnecessarily.

Frankly, I think they should close schools/universities. But that impacts jobs too.

I don't know what the answer is, but I know that bitching about the south isn't helping anyone 🤷🏻‍♀️

timeforawine · 08/10/2020 10:15

Yesterday to a restaurant for lunch, pub every Friday for a post work drink or 2.
Have also eaten out at zoo's/play areas.

LimitIsUp · 08/10/2020 12:02

August
But going out with friends next Saturday for meal at a pub

LimitIsUp · 08/10/2020 12:06

I also think it's a weird, warped mentality to expect areas with low infection rates to shut down just because areas of high infection are

imfatletsparty · 08/10/2020 12:07

Last Friday.

Silentplikebath · 08/10/2020 12:14

Does a drive thru count? If it does last week, if it doesn’t February.

SomewhereEast · 08/10/2020 12:33

Our local Caffe Nero about two hours ago! We don't eat out that much in term time, but we do a LOT of coffee. The coffeeshops round us seem as busy as ever

user1487194234 · 08/10/2020 13:13

Lunch yesterday

CremeEggThief · 08/10/2020 13:51

Last Saturday evening for a pub meal with DS.

WanderingMilly · 08/10/2020 13:54

Last week, took a friend. fabulous, all distanced, safe, sanitised....felt great. I would say that pubs and restaurants are very safe, they have to be due to all the restrictions and guidelines they have to follow.

The rise in COVID positives is due to schools, not pubs and restaurants....

What on earth is wrong with this OP?

They've started loads of threads over the last few weeks and hasn't returned to a single one of them Hmm

Well spotted. Journo looking for material?
PinkSparklyPussyCat · 08/10/2020 14:01

@HunkyPunk

Saturday - met 2 friends for lunch. I'm carrying on meeting friends and going out with family where possible, and taking appropriate measures to minimise risk, as unfortunately I don't think we will get 'to the other side' any time soon, and don't want to regret not seeing people. Sad
I'm doing the same. My birthday was in March just before lockdown and I wasn't bothered about going out for a meal. DH persuaded me and I'm glad he did as I wouldn't have been able to go for months! I'm looking at it like that now, if I don't go this week I might not be able to next week.
BiddyPop · 08/10/2020 14:07

3 weeks ago - I was in the office for the day, just before lockdown here, and a group of 4 went to lunch together to catch up.

Before that, DH, dd and I had gone to our sailing club in very early July for early dinner one evening.

And the 3 of us went out for Sunday brunch about a week later locally also.
Both of those would have been frequent occurrences before COVID (at least monthly for each) but have only happened once each (in July) since late February.

And we didn’t go out at all for food when on holidays in July - we bbq’d in the house we stayed in or ordered food as takeout from 1 restaurant 1 night (that we usually have a meal in down there), and got takeaway coffee twice from the coffee shop we usually got lots of coffee and a few breakfasts/lunches at.
