December on a weekend away, That was the last time I went anywhere really.

I just hope they don't start messing about with alcohol in England like they have in Scotland.

Having a cup of tea with a breakfast in a cafe because I am eating out to save lots of pots and pan washing etc is fine. But if I can't have a glass of wine with my evening meal out then I won't bother and will stay in ( which is probably what they want but not good for the businesses)

We go 2-3 times a week. Mainly late afternoon.

EerilyDeleted · 08/10/2020 07:29

Saturday to a coffee shop with a friend
Pub with three friends the week before
Garden centre cafe with a friend the week before.
A few places in August although only sat inside for a couple of them.

Both the links are to US sites, and all they show that being close to people for a lengthy amount of time increases the risk of spreading the infection. We all know that.

They really don't prove that going to a pub or restaurant, that has lots of Covid secure measures in place, is more risky than going to the supermarket.

CeibaTree · 08/10/2020 07:43

Last Friday eve with two friends. It was a bit weird when everyone got checked out at 10pm, but we had fun. The time before that was last Monday when we had lunch at our local.

Dotinthecity · 08/10/2020 07:45

We went last night. We're trying to go out to eat once a week to support local pubs and restaurants as we don't want to lose them.

CamelotSweetheart · 08/10/2020 07:48

7th March was the last time I went to a restaurant / bar. I've had a couple of coffees and pints outside since then, but not eaten in a restaurant and only once sat anywhere inside (something I'm not in a rush to repeat).
Perhaps I should be supporting cafes and restaurants but my god, we've saved so much money!

If you’re in the North you might be loosing your pub visits.

Saturday- pub, was Oktoberfest

hopefulhalf · 08/10/2020 07:58

Carrythecan, you make your own risk assesments. I will make mine, I consider indoor dining an unacceptable risk, you don't, that's ok. I also haven't been in anyone except MIL (in our bubble)'s house since March.

I'm not trying to get into an argument. My business is hospitality so I spend all day inside a hospitality venue. I have no choice in deciding to avoid the 'risk', unless I close my business Hmm

I was just questioning your statement about hospitality being a high risk when the UK figures suggest no such thing.

Monday eve. Only went because it's always dead on a Monday, is a food pub rather than a drinker pub, and they space the tables far apart anyway. Took my mum to meet my sibling half way between where we live.

I won't go to most places at the mo, tried Zizzi the other week and it was rammed and I felt unsafe virus wise. That put me off.

hopefulhalf · 08/10/2020 08:18

I work in a hospital, we have been told in no uncertain terms that we are not to eat lunch together indoors, a group of junior doctors were disciplined for going out to dinner together and thus spreading the virus. We can agree to disagree on this everything I understand about this virus suggests indoor hospitality cannot be made Covid safe.

LaVitaPuoEsserePiuBella · 08/10/2020 08:19

Went out for coffee yesterday. I am trying to lead as normal a life as possible within the guidelines, and want to support the local economy. I would very much like there to be as much of "normal" remaining to return to, once restrictions are eased.

MrsJBaptiste · 08/10/2020 08:21

Last weekend, we go out most Saturday and Sunday evenings.

If I'm stuck WFH then I'm damn well getting dressed up and going out at the weekend!

LadyCatStark · 08/10/2020 08:23

About 2 weeks ago. Doesn’t look like we’ll be going again for a while if they bring in the same restrictions as Scotland (just for the North of course, the South can all go and hang out together 😡)

PurpleDaisies · 08/10/2020 08:25

Outside their working hours? They have absolutely no authority to do this. It’s quite difficult to believe this happened.

hopefulhalf · 08/10/2020 08:26

Possibly, possibly when it was opened up in July if all staff had had to wear face coverings and it had been outdoor only we might have got away with it. But now the horse has bolted Johnson and his cronies are the Kings of too little too late. I am sorry for your bussiness Carrythecan and I hope Sunak puts a decent support package in place.
