Have you had a flu shot yet?

If you're planning on getting it - have you had yours?

Just had mine this morning and glad to have it done and out of the way! I'm not in the UK, but the nurse was saying that uptake has been huge this year and they ran out on a couple of days last month.

Mine is booked for next week.

Babdoc · 06/10/2020 16:38

Yup, at GP surgery yesterday. Impressed at how they’re handling the large numbers while keeping distanced and Covid safe. It was done army style - 5 patients marched in a line to the waiting room, 3 feet apart, all with one sleeve rolled up. 5 doctors standing spaced round the room with a syringe each, banged in the five shots simultaneously, patients marched out the back door as five more marched in the front!

It bodes well for being able to roll out the Covid vaccine rapidly, assuming we eventually get one that is safe and effective.

I've tried but nowhere is taking bookings.

FairFriday · 06/10/2020 16:41

@BestOption

In fact I have a fun filled week Breast screening today Cervical Smear tomorrow Flu jab Saturday 🤦🏻‍♀️
Throw in a pneumonia jab and that’s me!
JamieLeeCurtains · 06/10/2020 16:42

Still waiting for the GP to text me. (Sigh.) I've rung them three times and keep being told to wait.

I'm ECV* and I'm supposed to have it in my GP's surgery. Everyone I know has had it except me.

*Extremely clinically vulnerable = i.e. shielding, in the old money

I get one every year and have had mine today. I'm not eligible for an nhs one but whenever I get what seems like a mild virus in others in the family, it hits me really hard and takes me weeks to recover. I'm not sure if it's down to having several autoimmune conditions or since I had pneumonia a few years ago. Anyway, if a mild cold knocks me out for weeks I don't want to take any chances with flu.

lurker101 · 06/10/2020 16:42

Yes I got mine at work and my boyfriend got his at the local Lloyds pharmacy

MellowBird85 · 06/10/2020 16:45

Had mine yesterday at Tesco (couldn’t book with Boots as website said vulnerable only). The pharmacist at Tesco told me they are no longer offering private flu jabs, they’ve now gone the same way as Boots and I’d been lucky to get in early. Apparently demand for it shot up from 2500 a week to 98000 and they just couldn’t cope 😳

FourPlasticRings · 06/10/2020 16:47

Yep. Had mine from GP due to pregnancy, DH paid for his. DD is due hers tomorrow.

DeepfriedPizza · 06/10/2020 16:50

I had an appointment booked for a pharmacy tomorrow but they phoned to cancel as they’ve ran out. Can’t get an appointment anywhere else.

PastaAndPizzaPlease · 06/10/2020 16:54

Got mine done at boots, £15. Had a very sore arm for a few days after

FairFriday · 06/10/2020 16:56

We’ve had 2 lots of boots appointment cancelled last minute already - luckily got elsewhere.

timeforawine · 06/10/2020 16:58

I get it on the NHS due to asthma, this Friday i'm getting my shot, Dr had me booked in for end of the month but i can't make it so going to the pharmacy instead and will cancel the Dr apt,
Daughter will get hers at school thankfully so don't have to worry about getting her booked in

EvilHerbivore · 06/10/2020 16:59

Had it this morning - went to my GPs for something else and they offered it me whilst I was there

Aragog · 06/10/2020 17:05

Yes,, I had mine a couple of weeks ago. I get a free one due to medication I take. Had it done at our local pharmacy.

18y DD also got one around the same time, before leaving for university. Hers cost us £14 and was done at the same pharmacy.

rosiethehen · 06/10/2020 17:10

Not available in my area. They're only doing over 65s or those with an underlying health condition.

vinoandbrie · 06/10/2020 17:34

I’ve got mine on the 16th at Boots via work.

IpanemaFlowers · 06/10/2020 17:38

My ds, asthmatic, usually gets his at school in November. This year it’s in December which I think is a bit late.

NoWordForFluffy · 06/10/2020 17:40

I'm having mine on Saturday at Lloyd's after Boots screwed up my booking the other week.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 06/10/2020 17:46

Yes, had mine at work today (NHS) and asthmatic DS had his at our GP’s last Saturday.

Last year I couldn’t get mine until mid- November and DS’s was early December so I’m pleased that we’re both sorted so much earlier this year.

lunar1 · 06/10/2020 17:47

Yes, children were done at school last week, DH had his at work (hospital) and I had mine in the supermarket yesterday!

marriednotdead · 06/10/2020 17:50

Paid to have mine at Asda today as Boots weren't taking under 65s.

First time I've had one but don't fancy having flu again after a fibromyalgia diagnosis.

rubydoobydoo · 06/10/2020 17:52

Just had mine at the GP surgery, it was very efficient- you take your coat off as you go in and they stab your as you're walking past the clinic, you don't even have to go into the room! Grin

Lemoncurd · 06/10/2020 17:52

Had mine at the GP this morning, DH and the teens are going to a pharmacy later this week.

Youngest is due one at school but we haven't heard anything or received a form yet. Is that normal? Not sure when they normally have them?

ASchuylerSister · 06/10/2020 17:57

My youngest only brought the form home on Friday and we received an email from the school to say that the vaccinations won’t take place until end of November.
