What names were rejected when naming your children?

My partner wanted Alex , I said no

Donald. Good Scottish name, in the family, but just not for me.

My DH really wanted Benjamin for one of our DS but our surname begins with a J so that was a non starter.

I also was absolutely adamant I wanted Grayson at one point. We are not American or have any family ties there - just really liked it in a romantic hormonal phase of my pregnancy. TBH I still love the name just not right for our family environment!

I wanted Gabriel or Sebastian. Glad I didn’t now.

Anything Basque as my family wouldn't be able spell it pronounce them (DH is Basque, we're in Spain, I'm British). So, no to:

I wanted Benedict for DS and Eleanor for one of dds. Didn’t get either.

All of them. Eventually we cycled round and picked one we'd said no to the first time!

DH rejected Persephone and Hermione for DD.

I rejected Felix and Oscar for DS.

I loved Jemima, but DH didn't like it at all

My ex wanted Abel if our daughter had been a boy. I liked Ripley for a girl at one point but that was hormones and an Alien binge.

Never rejected any boys names because we couldn’t bloody think of any to shortlist. My DM named DS in the end

DD was very nearly called Lily. DS was almost Isaac, Oscar or Noah

I rejected Helen

I really wanted Dylan or Noah. Dh said no to both.

Ds could have been Sébastian. Or Michael. Dd Constance, Clementine or Eliza. I spent less time thinking about their names than I would have spent picking out shoes for a night out. Don’t know why - it seemed predestined.

I really liked Esme for a girl but my DH wasn't keen. I'm glad he spoke up as I really don't like the name now!

Isambard. Among others. I had to take a very firm line with DH.

My ex really wanted Gabriel. I said no. It’s now his son’s middle name. The name I wanted to use for our daughter’s middle name (had we had one) is his daughter’s first name.

Just to add, his DS and DD were born to two separate women after my son. Classy 😆

We could never agree on any boy’s names at all. I liked Harry, Henry, alasdair and Alexander. Husband had no ideas

Jasper, Otto, Rufus, Felix. I do still like these names but they were pipped to the post by the name we did choose :)

DH rejected Scarlett and Tallullah (sounded like prostitutes) and Verity (a murder victim in a favourite Miss Marple story)

Luke all the way until ds born and had dark hair, I'd envisaged luke's as being blond. Then thought Martin but the nurse who sewed me up was Martin.. Another one but the dust
