I wanted Louis for DS2, but DH was dead against it.

We considered Penelope for DD, but both considered it a bit "out there" for us.

DH once suggested Gary. That got vetoed by me straight away.

Hushabyelullabye · 05/10/2020 23:36

I loved Caoimhe (but DH refused to have a name he couldn't spell)

If we had a boy I liked Will (William if I had to), but it's tradition in DH's family for a boy to have his father's name as his middle name. DH is called Lee! I guess we both agreed not to have that one.

I don't think he suggested any names himself, just vetoed the ones he didn't like.

IndieTara · 05/10/2020 23:51

Neda, ex husband wanted that for DD

Angus. Only cos our surname is McCoatup.

WellGoshDarnIt · 06/10/2020 00:16

DH wanted Rhiannon, which was swiftly vetoed by me.
I, (during a particularly hormonal point in my pregnancy), was insistent that I wanted to call DD Honey. DH said, well maybe, we'll think about it. Luckily my mum reminded me that I was naming a baby, not a golden retriever.

Dowser · 06/10/2020 05:20

Didn’t Jonathon Ross call his dd honey Kinnie

samosamimosa · 06/10/2020 05:40

Edmund because of the book character
Holly Because she has a July birthday

FourPlasticRings · 06/10/2020 06:00

@samosamimosa Which book character? The lion, the witch and the wardrobe one?

I really wanted to call prospective ds3 Orlando (after Gibbons, not Bloom), but dh said a flat no and that would have been quite difficult - the suggestion he was happy with was a compromise. We avoided the issue by having a girl.

CatteStreet · 06/10/2020 06:25

And dh said no to Sophia (which is IMO the perfect name) for her because it was too popular. The name she has suits her down to the ground, so all's well that ends well.

FatimaMunchy · 06/10/2020 06:28

DH wanted Astrid for our first child. I wanted Benedict for the third. Both ended up with Biblical names.

CatbearAmo · 06/10/2020 06:53

Dh wanted Kalina/Calina for our dd but i ruled it out.
He also wanted Rose as a middle name but we don't have that either.

PrimeraVez · 06/10/2020 06:58

I wanted DS1 to be Ludo. DH laughed and we went with his choice (Leo)

Two years later, a friend had a baby called Ludo. And DH said ‘oh wow what a great name, we should have thought of that’ Hmm

orangejuicer · 06/10/2020 07:01

I was really keen on Alexander for ages. Also liked Sebastian and a few obscure welsh names.

Went for a popular boys' name instead which actually fits much better Grin

NatalieH2220 · 06/10/2020 07:04

I wanted Oliver. DH said no,

DH wanted Dave, I said no.

Lovingmylife · 06/10/2020 07:05

I really liked Minnie and Jasper. Both rejected. He liked Jasmine and David.

Fifthtimelucky · 06/10/2020 07:48

1st child: husband rejected Emily because I had an acquaintance called Emily who he said was really boring.

2nd child: the midwife who delivered her asked if we had decided on a name yet. I said it was either x or Victoria. She said that she had delivered a Victoria a couple of weeks previously, so we went with X.

Between us we also rejected every male name we could think of, so it's just as well we didn't have a boy.

firstimemamma · 06/10/2020 07:49

Leo
Willow

batteriesgoing · 06/10/2020 07:57

Dh dismissed Tabitha and Heidi and Jasmine.
I didn't want Grace, Emily, Elizabeth, Molly or Libby.

bonbonours · 06/10/2020 08:54

My husband wanted Kathryn. I rejected it because there are too many different variations and people would always spell it wrong.
He also liked several Irish names which I rejected because nobody would be able to spell or pronounce them. (His family is historically Irish)

I liked Zara and he thought it was too posh/too out there. We settled on Cara because it's Irish and similar to Zara.

And then loads of people sent us baby cards with Clara, Carla or Kara written on them 😡.

WankPuffins · 06/10/2020 08:57

Dh wanted Ruby for a girl. I really dislike it.

He wanted Rollo for a boy, but we were about to move to the West Midlands. It sounds horrible in a west mids accent, I envisaged years of cringing at the school door when the teacher called his name.

PeskyRooks · 06/10/2020 09:09

I vetoed Tallulah (annoying bugsy Malone character )
Flynn
Silas

TH vetoed
Hazel (gutted always wanted a Hazel)
Dylan
Badger really wanted this for ds. He is 13 now. When I told him I wanted to call him that 'but Dad wouldn't let me' he rolled his eyes and said "thanks Dad!"

PeskyRooks · 06/10/2020 09:10

DH not TH

samosamimosa · 06/10/2020 09:19
