cloudylemonade13 · 05/10/2020 23:07

Another Harriet here

Cotswoldmama · 05/10/2020 23:08

My eldest would have been Rufus Otto if I had my way but we compromised with Reuben Ethan and my second would have been Jesper Jago he ended up being Eben Jago. All my girls names were rejected my favourite was Velvet.

OntheWaves40 · 05/10/2020 23:08

I wanted Anya, my parents didn’t so I chose something else

SukiPutTheEarlGreyOn · 05/10/2020 23:09

DS: Christian, Daniel, Nathaniel, Finn
DD: Madeleine, Annalisa, Francesca, Marianne
Still like all of them. DS likes the name we settled on but DD doesn’t like hers much at all and would maybe have preferred one of the others from the shortlist.

FairfaxAikman · 05/10/2020 23:10

DH rejected my all time favourite- Alasdair.
I got my second choice though

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 05/10/2020 23:11

I blame hormones in retrospect. I wanted to name ours DDs... Boudicca and Edelweiss. Luckily DH kept his head.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 05/10/2020 23:11

DH wanted Rhys. I said no. I wanted Fynn he said no.

We have an Alex!Grin

MyNameForToday1980 · 05/10/2020 23:11

Rosa and Clara were a 'no' from DH.

Amelia and Aurelia were a 'no' from me.

Dowser · 05/10/2020 23:13

My great uncle was Otto.He .died at sea. Never fancied it for ds so was amazed when friend’s daughter called her son it
Of the o names much prefer, Marco, Bruno, Jaco, Milo

My cousin named her son Felix 21 years ago when it was quite unusual
But now it’s everyone and his cat

GiantKitten · 05/10/2020 23:13

I wanted Belinda or Miranda or something else along those lines.
He wanted Christine or Alison Confused
We compromised on Jessica (suggested by a nice nurse!)

Dowser · 05/10/2020 23:13

@MyNameForToday1980
I like all 4 of those

MyNameForToday1980 · 05/10/2020 23:14

Oh and DH also banned:
Harriet and Juliet.

Mind you, I wasn't going for Madeleine or Maisie.

EggyPegg · 05/10/2020 23:16

I wanted Isaac for DS1 and Joseph for DS2. DH vetoed both. He wanted Jack both times. I wouldn't agree.

EggyPegg · 05/10/2020 23:17

@iguanadonna

Isambard. Among others. I had to take a very firm line with DH.
I know someone with Brunel as a middle name!
SqidgeBum · 05/10/2020 23:17

I have ALWAYS wanted Aiobheann (I am irish), DH said it had too many unnecessary letters.. He wanted Olivia, I said it was too common and she would be one of 4 in her class which, as a teacher, drives me mad. He also wanted Summer, or Poppy. I vetoed them too. Something about a November baby named Summer isnt right.

Dowser · 05/10/2020 23:20

I think naming your child is the only true revenge you get for all the times they are right twats 😂😂😂

cloudylemonade13 · 05/10/2020 23:21

@FairfaxAikman I've always quite liked Alasdair too but it always reminds me of Billy Connolly's 'with a d-a-i-r' joke

rosiethehen · 05/10/2020 23:22

John

Kljnmw3459 · 05/10/2020 23:25

So many but Marion and Elijah top the list.

StillMedusa · 05/10/2020 23:26

I wanted Jesse for DS1 and Gabriel for DS2.
In hindsight I'm glad dh vetoed Gabriel but I do think DS1 would have made a great Jesse, he is a cool musician dude Grin

However he is marrying a Jess, so maybe not....!

AlwaysLatte · 05/10/2020 23:32

I wanted Max, husband didn't, and he wanted Auberon, but he was keen to stay married.
We chose one very popular traditional name and one traditional name creeping back into the ratings.
