What is your favourite television theme music, whether British or foreign ?

Mine is (Jam For) World In Action. A very powerful and thought-provoking piece that suited the nature of the programme perfectly.

I quite liked Barnacle Bill from Blue Peter before the Mike Oldfield arrangement displaced it. A pleasant, jolly hockey sticks kind of number.

I used to watch a show called weeds ( think it was by the same writer as OITNB) and the opening song was called Little boxes. I love it and still sing it.

I’m another vote for Succession. Not only is it brilliantly haunting but because they play it so much in the actual show, it’s so fundamental to the atmosphere.

I used to love the theme tune for Holiday '87 (or thereabouts. Pretty sure the tune carried on for several years.)

Chi Mai - it was the theme to "The Life and Times of David Lloyd George" years ago.
Another one I loved was the theme to "The Ink Thief" - it has Richard O'Brien and Toyah in it, I've only ever been able to find half an episode on YouTube.

Oh I take that back, now I've Googled it. The holiday theme tune I liked ran from 78-85! Blimey. Funny it stuck in my head for so long, I wasnt even in double figures! Must have been the promise of exotic holidays and ice creams

then there are a few like Blue Peter and TotP and Record Breakers and even Grange Hill which just stick in your mind as they were on every week, for years and years growing up, and it was at a time when everyone watched the same programmes, so they evoke lovely childhood memories, without being 'great pieces of music'

I binge watched the entire series of Thorn Birds recently. Guilty pleasure, although viewing it with modern eyes was interesting. Older man and younger woman.
