Curry I hope you do not mind?
I put the last message in, and didn't find a new thread. Which I found disquiting, so to calm my nerves here goes.

DD said she tried to do some work on the laptop downstairs. First of all the cat sat on her then she opened the laptop and the cat sat on the keyboard.

Squirrel26 · 12/10/2020 08:23

I couldn’t work out how to turn off the alarm clock this morning. Turns out I was trying to turn off the wrong one (I have two, just in case) and that’s why repeatedly stabbing at the button on the first one wasn’t having any effect.

Spudlet · 12/10/2020 08:42

I’m wearing the other of my two eBay jumpers today. It’s so cosy!

I have just trapped my fingers putting the trailer bike onto the back of my bike though, which is balancing out the cosy. I can’t wear gloves to do fiddly tasks like that so my fingers were really cold too. Ouch.

TenCornMaidens · 12/10/2020 09:16

I got a new chest of drawers to put in my wardrobe and don't think this is dull at all. But other people probably do. I am looking forward to putting some clothes in it. I might also finally put some summer clothes in the loft.

sueelleker · 12/10/2020 09:18

cat sat on the keyboard. That should be in a modern children's reader!

Spudlet · 12/10/2020 09:28

I’ve taken the eBay jumper off again. It’s not half as cold as I thought, at least not once I’d pedalled DS to school and pedalled him home again.

Now sitting on the sofa with ddog asleep beside me. I have a number of things that I should be doing, but I am watching Instagram videos of a rather cheeky racehorse spooking all over Newmarket (Thoughts of Bean, if anyone wants to look, it makes me smile). In a minute I need to crack on with the jobs, but it’s nice to just sit quietly for a moment (plus we had Prosecco and sloe gin to celebrate our anniversary last night and I’m not hungover as such, but my head is certainly present...)

Taswama · 12/10/2020 09:44

I've made some quinoa to make into a salad for lunch later. 110g uncooked makes enough for two salads imo. Just need to chop up a bunch of veg and throw in some nuts, seeds and dressing.

Frownette · 12/10/2020 09:47

@MissConductUS oh I thought it would look pretty on her but she's a size larger than me and it fits me well, so it may have been a little tight anyway.

I'll find something else nice for her.

Here, it started drizzling on my way into town, and looks like we're going on red restrictions Sad

BamboozledandBefuddled · 12/10/2020 11:42

Last night I asked DH if he wanted to share the trifle and he declined. I finished it off while sitting in a glow of virtue Grin

I've stripped the bed (and remade it), washed the bedspread, changed the bedroom curtains and cleaned the windows, and hoovered. I am now eating Mini Cheddars (Monterey Jack flavour) and wondering why I didn't make coffee before sitting down.

Sunbird24 · 12/10/2020 11:50

I’ve got a great big spot on my cheek and nothing to put on it but sudocrem. Need to leave the house in 90 mins so must remember to wipe it off before then...

MissConductUS · 12/10/2020 12:15

The remnants of hurricane Delta have arrived in New York as a steady, moderate rain that will be with us all day. I ran anyway but quit after about 30 minutes.

Pizza is on for dinner, so I've taken dough, sauce and cheese out of the big freezer in the garage. I have the day off for Columbus Day, so I'm probably just going to do a bit of shopping than some little projects around the house.

We had a lovely Zoom call with DS and MIL last night. DS is taking a course in Irish literature this term and told us that his professor is looking into organizing a trip to Ireland next summer that he is keen to go on. His uni has a satellite campus in Cork, so presumably, they'd stay there, which would hold down the cost. I've looked into applying for a passport for him. Most of my heritage is Irish, so I'd love him to go and DH, who is mostly of British ancestry, is very supportive as well.

My question for the MN hivemind is regarding his spending on incidentals while there. Will he be okay with just a Visa debit card or should we get him a payment app, and if so, which one?

@Frownette Wise choice. Finding a good silk dress that suits you and fits properly is quite serendipitous.

PompomDahlia · 12/10/2020 12:16

I’m having a nice hot cup of tea and wondering what to have for lunch - maybe soup and a toastie. I might go and fetch my gilet to put on when I can be bothered.

Champagneforeveryone · 12/10/2020 12:29

I'm having my flu jab this afternoon.

DH's bad mood has fizzled out into a gentle malaise.

DDog1's bed is showing as being delivered today but with no tracking information, or indeed anything to suggest this will actually be the case. We haven't told him this.

giletrouge · 12/10/2020 13:09

@Taswama my DH has quinoa in salad every other day, I cook up a big pan and freeze it in small batches.

I'm not really fond of salad, it's a much more occasional thing for me.

My younger daughter is in labour in a London hospital. Being induced.
I need lots of distraction today. Her lovely husband is with her. It's her first baby.

What I'd like to do is either write something serious or start a new painting, but my brain is feeling rather shredded. I might manage to get the washing on and tweak the supermarket order.

soddingkitten · 12/10/2020 13:14

Sodding bombed a succession of my Zoom meetings this morning, including standing on my laptop keyboard and completely obscuring the camera. 🤦🏼‍♀️ At that point I shut him out because it was getting embarrassing/unprofessional. He snuck back later and is now sleeping inside my zipped hoody, as this stops him sliding off my lap. I need lunch, so I’ll be moving him in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...

sueelleker · 12/10/2020 13:21

@Sunbird24 Toothpaste is supposed to dry spots up; I've never tried it though.

BillywigSting · 12/10/2020 13:34

I took ds to school emptied the washing machine then went back to bed for a nap that turned into a three hour sleep. I must have needed it but I have a headache now.

I'm making bolognaise for tea tonight for me and ds. Dp doesn't like it so he said he'll pull something out of the freezer.

Going to crack on with the housework now. There isn't too much to do. A bit of laundry to put away, some ironing and hoovering and a few dishes from breakfast.

Taswama · 12/10/2020 13:52

My banana cake is made and ready to go into the oven. Unfortunately I have a meeting at 2 and DS has a lesson on Teams so it will have to wait until after that as I'm not allowed in the kitchen while he's having a lesson! Better make a cuppa now!

Spudlet · 12/10/2020 14:08

I’ve walked the dog and collected the shopping. Feeling rather bleak today, I’m not sure why. I think I’m struggling to adjust to DS being at school more than he is, to be honest.

Now sitting in the car, gathering the energy to go and put the shopping away. I just want to sit here and go to sleep 😳

TenCornMaidens · 12/10/2020 14:53

Have just had a shower and put on a clay face mask. Going to try to drink a cup of tea now but Hmm will this be successful with a clay face mask on.

MissConductUS · 12/10/2020 14:57

I've just made brownies, most of which will be boxed up and posted to DS at uni. Next on the list is filling out a dental insurance claim form for my visit to the endodontist on Friday.

The brownies are made by melting 3 cups of chocolate chips in butter and water, then adding 2 eggs and a bit of flour. They are supremely soft and rich. I have been pursuaded to share the recipe previously.

Just made my Christmas puddings; the recipe I use makes 3 smallish ones (there's only 3 of us to eat it) so I make a batch and freeze the other 2 . I could halve the recipe, but I CBA. The first one is now in my Instant Pot.

TenCornMaidens · 12/10/2020 15:13

Update: the tea with clay face mask situation worked out fine.

BillywigSting · 12/10/2020 15:29

This might be a bit too exciting for this thread but my new snag tights arrived today. If a more comfortable and better fit exist I haven't found it yet.

I think I might have to throw away all of my inferior tights and replace them all with snags.

Going to wear a pair tomorrow and see how they go. I am very short so even in small tights I get Nora batty ankles but these seem to not be doing that.

Taswama · 12/10/2020 15:31

Update - DS put the cake in the oven when his lesson finished and put the timer on for the right amount of time.
