Curry I hope you do not mind?
I put the last message in, and didn't find a new thread. Which I found disquiting, so to calm my nerves here goes.

I've decided to skip Zoom church this week as our regular rector is away and I have some important things to do around the house, like fry up some bacon for pizza tomorrow and have a coffee and an apple cider donut. If God is annoyed I'm sure She'll let me know.

DH was mowing the lawn yesterday, hopefully for the last time this season and discovered mole tunnels under the lawn. We had a mole infestation under the lawn a few years ago and learned that they're here because we have grubs under the lawn and the way to get rid of them is to get rid of the grubs. He's off to Home Depot, our big DIY chain store, to get the treatment to ride us of the grubs.

Speaking of moles, the history of medical treatments and quackery is an interest of mine. Did you know that in 18th century England it was thought that hanging mole paws around your neck would prevent or treat toothaches?

Rot, drills and inequity: the tangled tale of teeth

It's a pretty harmless example of what people will believe is a useful treatment. Millions of people were absolutely convinced that it worked. It did not.

UselessASD · 11/10/2020 15:32

Been to the supermarket and it was quiet, good SD and got everything we wanted.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 11/10/2020 16:17

I finished my ironing.
DD finished the brownies she wanted to make and will hopefully leave the kitchen in a presentable state.
Half the bathroom is finished (yes I know.)

I've just had a very thorough wash so am pristine, albeit slightly damp still.

I was a bit disappointed in a way earlier as I tried on a new silk dress which I'd meant to post to a friend but it suits me.

Now just need to dry off then catch taxi to my support bubble, I'll be away tonight. I'll write all my xmas cards this evening.

Champagneforeveryone · 11/10/2020 17:30

I'm home from work and DH is in a towering temper about things unspecified at this point
So that's nice.

MissConductUS · 11/10/2020 18:04

@Frownette - If the dress is new (and silk!) why are you posting it to a friend? If it suits you, keep it.

@Champagneforeveryone - You have my sympathy. I've found when this happens with men and toddlers it's best not to inquire what's set them off. It only seems to encourage them.

We have a zoom call at 5:00 with my lovely MIL and DS at uni. I think we'll wind up driving up there to pick him up for Thanksgiving then taking him back the Sunday after. That's way too much driving in epic traffic but it will be worth it to have him home.

Spudlet · 11/10/2020 18:07

The cooking instructions on the couscous were in such a tiny font, with such terrible colour contrast, that I had to get my glasses to decipher them.

I now feel quite old. 👵🏻

maslinpan · 11/10/2020 18:13

I dug up three enormous potatoes at the allotment. I will now de-bobble two jumpers.

QuestionableMouse · 11/10/2020 18:14

Was going to save money and cook something for tea but I really want pizza and I don't have the stuff in to make it so I've ordered Domino's.

KoalaRabbit · 11/10/2020 18:15

DS is downstairs giggling to himself and squealing as he's laughing so much, he's alone so no idea what is so amusing.

Taswama · 11/10/2020 18:33

I made some 'breakfast bars' this morning. Basically flapjacks with extra seeds, nuts and dried fruit. I used almonds instead of hazelnut and dried cranberries instead of apricots. DS1 had two after lunch. DS2 tried one but wasn't impressed. DP can't eat fruit so didn't have any. So I'm planning to make something else, maybe banana cake.

KoalaRabbit · 11/10/2020 18:47

Banaca cake sounds lovely Taswama My DS's favourite is lemon drizzle cake.

Cat is now howling as DH promised her he'ld be back 10 minutes ago, she seems to know the time.

Champagneforeveryone · 11/10/2020 19:03

Exactly missconduct

We have whistling now. Whistling either denotes great happiness (not the case today) or an impending tantrum (more likely)

Taswama · 11/10/2020 19:23

I love lemon drizzle cake too Koala , but that would be another cake that DP cannot eat (bananas are fine), so a bit unfair on him.

SpeedofaSloth · 11/10/2020 19:27

I am on the sofa now until bedtime. All my jobs are done for today, and I just need to iron a pair of trousers in the morning. I can manage that. Going to watch Top Gear at 8pm because DH wants to watch it. I will probably be on here while it's on.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 11/10/2020 19:33

I am watching the new numberphile upload. Most videos go over my head but I love the dedication and enthusiasm those people have for their fields of work.

I'll probably have the foot OP soon, I do not need to walk when there is nowhere to walk to. But I would need to significantly reduce my food intake.

I have unloaded the dishwasher. Just in time to fill it up again with the dishes from dinner.

soddingkitten · 11/10/2020 19:50

I removed all the loose covers from our dining chairs today to launder them. Pre-removal I went over the seats with a bobble remover to get all the dark bobbles from our clothing off, as the covers are light-coloured wool flannel and I didn’t want any dye leakage. We discovered the covers would tolerate a gentle wool cycle (after years of expensive dry cleaning) after Sodding piddled on one during his first week with us. Sodding kept me company to ensure I did the debobbling properly. He was more hindrance than help, but at least he didn’t disappear like my kids who were also supposed to be helping. Hmm

I had my first swim since February today. My usual pool is operating a bookings service for timed swimming slots. There is time allocated for cleaning between sessions, so you can only swim for c30-35 mins but it was well organised and calm. The lanes are wide and there is a cap on numbers so it was easy to keep my distance from the other swimmers. I was sceptical about whether I’d enjoy it, but it was definitely worth it. I feel so much better afterwards.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 11/10/2020 20:17

What do you use for debobbling? I have a debobbling razor given to me by my gran.

forgetthehousework · 11/10/2020 20:49

I've been sewing today, it's going well and is, therefore, very relaxing. If it was not going well I would obviously be saying something very different.

BamboozledandBefuddled · 11/10/2020 20:56

There's a small helping of triple chocolate trifle left in the fridge. If I ask DH if he wants it, he'll probably say no but should I take that risk or just go and hide in a dark kitchen and eat it?

amieejust · 11/10/2020 20:58

Sitting with my cats watching bird videos on YouTube.

DH is downstairs watching Top Gear.

It’s a small battery operated thing from TigerTiger.

Dark kitchen. Do it!

I have been quite stern with little miss know it all today and quite firmly put her in her place.

I am sick to death of carrying new starters and agency though, I've only been there two months myself.

Wasn't a terrible shift though all said and I got the lamb I was hoping for. It was lovely and tender and there were mountains of roast potatoes and sprouts.

I fear I may gas dp tonight with sprout related wind.

I'm off now until Thursday as it stands so will have a few days to potter around.
