Curry I hope you do not mind?
I put the last message in, and didn't find a new thread. Which I found disquiting, so to calm my nerves here goes.

DDog1's bed has been delayed so he's no longer excited.

I bet every time an Amazon advert comes on the tv he things "Oh shut up and get my order here, pronto".

Deathraystare · 11/10/2020 07:25

KoalaRabbit

So glad his 'other woman' is a cat!!!

Frownette · 11/10/2020 07:39

@ladygracie

I have woken up with a sore throat, heavy eyes & feeling a bit rubbish. So that’s sad. Was planning to see two friends today but will have to cancel now. Hope you have an okay shift & it isn’t too annoying to work with a know it all!
Oh I had that recently, it was only a tight throat, mucus, which makes you vomit sometimes as you try to swallow. Not COVID.

Breakfast is in order now

Spudlet · 11/10/2020 07:53

Got about two hours sleep last night. Stupid brain. Not feeling at my sparkling best right now.

ladygracie · 11/10/2020 07:53

Thanks Frownette - I am a teacher & they are really hot on us not coming in with any symptoms really. So I’ll get up in a minute and see how I feel.
I bought an Argos desk that I love - it’s not as sturdy or high as the Ikea one though. Hope it’s in stock for you.

EggyPegg · 11/10/2020 08:06

Oh I missed the last thread, so here's my news from last week. My new dishwasher was delivered. A decent brand this time, and I have scrapped the bag of shit one we had before.

@Pluckedpencil We have an IKEA one that was £16. It's the LINNMON / ADILS table. Initially bought it for DS1 to have it in his room, but when lockdown started, we needed to move his drum kit down from the attic as the wifi wouldn't reach for Zoom lessons, so the desk came out. DH then commandeered it as his work station and it's been in our living room ever since. Between us we've been pretty resourceful. He was getting a bad neck from looking down at his laptop, so I got our small TV out of the loft (think its about 18/20"), he bought a cable on eBay to connect it to his laptop, and we piled it up on top of thick books to bring it eye level for him. He's been told to expect to WFH until at least the spring now, so he might as well have a proper work area.

Perhaps it was in that lorry that overturned?

MissConductUS · 11/10/2020 09:19

@Frownette - that is a very fine jacket indeed, but not quite what I expected when you said you were "hot to trot" now that you had it. Grin

@EggyPegg - we have a 17 year old dishwasher that cleans better than any you can buy now because of the new eco standards. We don't run it very often so I'm hoping we get a few more years from it. Re the wifi, we had poor coverage for DD, who is doing uni in her bedroom. DH installed a wireless access point by the bedrooms and had an electrician run network cable from it to our router, which is one floor down and at the other end of the house. DD is all set and I can now stream Netflix in bed. Smile

It's just after 4:00 here. I've fed the cats, put on my running clothes and am ready to head out for a run. I can use the new shower when I return as the silicone sealant they used on the shower door frame has now set.

That's what we told him, DH even showed him a photo. He is still in high dudgeon about it and has no patience with tipped over lorries.
Prokupatuscrakedatus · 11/10/2020 10:09

DH just phoned, the event he did (literature related) was a success, now he is sitting in a mates garden watching squirrels.
He - smuggly - informed us that the local bakery had three types of cheese cake all involving cherries.

I’ve ordered some new walking socks, made from ocean plastic, which are supposed to be anti blister. I’m intrigued, but also wondering whether I should’ve spent the £20 on a pair of wool Bridgedales instead.

Who knew, when I was a high heel wearing twenty something, that the purchase of a pair of socks would take up so much of my mind space.

MissConductUS · 11/10/2020 11:32

Cherry cheesecake is very much a thing in New York. There's a restaurant chain called Junior's Cheesecake and it's one of their top sellers:

www.juniorscheesecake.com/cherry-crumb

Raisins are another matter, however. That would be cheesecake apostasy.

So I'm back from my run, showered and had some yogurt and fruit for breakfast. Venus was easy to spot, pretty high above the horizon but Mars was being a sneaky git and was quite low in the sky. I have an app on my phone called GoSkyWatch that's very useful in locating recalcitrant celestial objects.

I'm off shortly to take DD to her job. She has to be there at 7:00 AM.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 11/10/2020 11:59

Miss
That is a lovely cake but still not enough cherries for him. He is weird like that.

I got a 100 point word on the Scrabble Go ap this morning. It was quinces and the s from quinces made yes when added to ye. I was very happy with myself.

Squirrel26 · 11/10/2020 12:27

I have bought a picture frame. It’s currently by the back door until I can summon up the enthusiasm to take it upstairs and introduce it to a picture.

Email from the lady who owns the yard where I keep my horse complaining about people not putting show jumps away properly. Not guilty.

giletrouge · 11/10/2020 13:06

There's a woodpigeon nest outside my study window. It's been probably my most constant joy all of this year. I've watched them raise two lots of babies and then recently repair the nest, which was slipping. Every few hours I see one of them leave the nest, scrambling along the branch and then taking off. Because I have a view that's from the underneath and back of the tree, I feel I've been afforded a whole new level of insight this year into what it might feel like to be a woodpigeon, as I spend hours at my desk and look up to see what they're doing, which nine times out of ten is nothing. Just sitting in the nest, being a woodpigeon.

MutteringDarkly · 11/10/2020 13:13

The neighbour has been playing with his chainsaw for hours in his front garden. They have a log burner so I assume he is cutting logs rather than chopping (he's not as young as he once was). The noise is getting right on my wick.

Fortunately we're meeting family for a walk in about an hour.

Spudlet · 11/10/2020 13:34

Just back from a run in the woods. DS and DH dropped me off then took ddog for a walk, and then we all met up at the coffee shop for some cake.

I discovered that my running jacket has a double sided zip, so you can pack it away into its own pocket. This is very exciting as it means I have more room in my running bumbag for other things - like jelly babies. I have owned this jacket for some months but have only just realised this fact.

EggyPegg · 11/10/2020 13:47

I'm rebuilding this beast and listening to The Greatest Showman soundtrack.

DS1 had a very successful morning at rugby, actually getting stuck in for a change.

And I fixed the toilet seat (going for a poo had become an extreme sport).

EggyPegg · 11/10/2020 13:48

Forgot to attach the picture in my excitement about the toilet seat.

Crystalknobs · 11/10/2020 14:03

I’ve baked a cake , that actually looks and tastes like cake !!😁

KoalaRabbit · 11/10/2020 14:04

Deathraystare Grin Yes the only other woman in DH's life is definitely the cat. He's just left to go out and said bye bye Popett, your Papa will be back to see you again at 6.30pm, love you Popett. This is the man that didn't want a cat but said I could get one if I wanted one.

DH and DD have gone down to old house. DS has fed the silkie chickens a few times.

KoalaRabbit · 11/10/2020 14:05

Ordered a breadmaker.

Birdtwitcher · 11/10/2020 14:07

Ooh I like this thread. I'm contemplating having a nap then doing so exercise and cooking a roast later. Also need to iron uniform. Do I do a white wash? Not enough space for it on my heated airer really so might wait until tomorrow.

FunTimes2020 · 11/10/2020 14:58

I've just had a cup of tea and a large bar of aero in bed. The aero was orange flavour. I will look on mumsnet for a bit and then have a nap. The electric blanket is on.
