Curry I hope you do not mind?
I put the last message in, and didn't find a new thread. Which I found disquiting, so to calm my nerves here goes.

@soddingkitten

DH let Sodding lick his empty plate too. Shock Usually DS2 tells us off for letting him develop bad habits. Grin
DH has lost all sense of propriety when it comes to ChampagneCat. I recently caught her eating from the chicken carcass I had left on the worktop, DH shrugged and said (after 14 years together) that he wasn't really that fussed about chicken sandwiches anyway Hmm

@Whenwillow I have a proper liquidiser (part of a kenwood stand mixer/kitchen aid thing) but I cba with the cleaning of it. I don't have a dishwasher so it's a lot of faff.

I have ordered a stick blender off amazon. It is soup season after all.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/10/2020 17:04

DD will meet a uni friend at the weekend - as we still owe her the return of her cake box we will bake another cheese cake - without the unwanted additions of cherries and raisins.
I bought usb cables, headphones and boy's underwear and socks.

I've been working at home and just written a couple of blogs about Covid and health. At lunchtime I had a phone chat with a dear friend whose wife has terminal cancer and we arranged to meet for a drink in a couple of weeks. Later I popped out to the shops to get food for dinner as I'm cooking for a pal. On the way I bumped into my former after school nanny so we had a brief chat. Just roasted some squash in the oven with herbs and spices to add later to a risotto. Now writing again.....

sueelleker · 07/10/2020 17:54

@BillywigSting. The easiest way to clean it is to put some warm soapy water in the goblet and run it for a few minutes, then rinse.

FawnDrench · 07/10/2020 18:33

DH mowed the lawn.

I couldn't be bothered to sweep up the leaves so they are still all over the place.

Watched an episode of Judge Judy earlier, and one man on it had apparently been married 7 times.

mathanxiety · 07/10/2020 18:40

Nice weather returned to my neck of the woods, so I am bringing several plants out to the deck again.

Lovely dog, Spudlet.

ExerciseBeaver · 07/10/2020 18:41

Microwaeved the wrong home made frozen curry. Thought it was chicken. Now having lamb Grin.

I'm incredibly grumpy. Had a really heavy period for 3 days. Back at work after time off and its demands and deadlines.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/10/2020 18:42

DD is cooking for us sth with rice.

I've just had an email from DS's uni. The plan originally was to end the term on 25/11 and send the students home in time for Thanksgiving. They would then go back in January. Lovely.

Now they've decided that they want to have more classes after Thanksgiving, so off on the 25th, then back on 29th with classes resuming on the 2nd of December. So we'll have a 400 mile round trip to pick him up and the same a few days later to take him back. And god knows how many students will come back with COVID, so everyone will have to be retested. This is just begging for an outbreak. I won't let him take the train home and back because it's a crowded confined space. Lots of uni's here are just keeping the students on campus for Thanksgiving, which is at least safer.

DH, who is on the parent's advisory council, has just sent the Dean of Students, an email with a right bollocking about how stupid this is expressing our concerns.

spudlet and sodding, those are lovely pictures, thanks for sharing them.

@cheeseychovolate

We need to repair our guttering, my husband thinks we should ask neighbour for half the cost, I can see it's all on our side so I won't be asking her for anything. Any way, I've got the exciting job of showing him he's wrong later, sometimes I think he's just being awkward for the sake of it.
We put up some new guttering today. It could have been exciting if I'd been up the ladder with the drill and all the bits, but my role was more of a general passer-upper; however for the very last piece I was promoted to Chief Gutter Holder. I am now eating Jaffa cakes to reward myself. (I did offer some to DH as well but he has declined).

I've just googled Jaffa cakes. I try to do this with every UK reference I don't understand, and the results are usually, well, a bit dull. But not this time:

Iconic British Things No. 11: Jaffa Cakes

Sponge cake, then orange jelly and chocolate? OMG, I must have Jaffa Cakes!

I may have to emigrate. All of this time on MN has not been wasted after all. Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/10/2020 19:58

At my very first trip to England (year 10, very last century) I practically lived on them. Though ordinarily I do not like to mix chocolate and fruit.

Sitting up in bed eating spag bol and just dropped some on the duvet cover. I don't normally go to bed at 8pm but I felt really tired. Went to 3 shops earlier, looking for the right colour paint for DS's bedroom, and I think I'm out of practice on the whole going out thing.

SpeedofaSloth · 07/10/2020 20:07

Another DC activity, another car park, chocolate ovaltine in the travel mug this time.

user159 · 07/10/2020 20:11

The library had a book that's been on my wish list for months. Highlight of my week!

MutteringDarkly · 07/10/2020 20:26

I treated myself to a cinnamon bun for sitting politely through a particularly tedious meeting.

forgetthehousework · 07/10/2020 20:29

Jaffa cakes are indeed delicious @MissConductUS and each one has only 1g of fat and is 46 calories, which is very good unless, like me, you have just eaten 8 of them!

KoalaRabbit · 07/10/2020 20:29

I'm just looking at plants and spotted this amazing offer - buy 1 for £4 or 2 for £12.

Just eaten sweet and sour chicken and rice.

After the tax people sent him a reminder DH has started doing the taxes for 2019. (My papers have been ready since Febuary - but only bc. I am uncomplicatedly employed.)
Now he comes out ever so often asking plaintively for this bill and that receipt.
I'll soon empty the dish washer.

Our Euro-imported supermarkets (Lidl, Aldi) have exotic European variants on the Jaffa Cake, sometimes as Pimm Lu (sp?) brand. My favourite foreign version is the cherry jelly/white chocolate one.

Jaffa Cakes are diet kryptonite for DH. He can’t leave an opened pack unfinished.

Nydj · 07/10/2020 21:14

I know I will be accused of heresy MissConductUS but whilst Jaffa cakes are nice enough in the whole, the cake bit is a bit dry.

I tried to prepare for an MSTeams presentation for next week. I hate giving presentations.

soddingkitten · 07/10/2020 21:38

A former German housemate thought Hobnobs were the greatest British biscuit ever created. When we visited her a few years ago I took several packs as a gift, including milk and plain chocolate Hobnobs. The chocolate version came out after she moved back to Germany. She was blown away by chocolate Hobnobs.

BillywigSting · 07/10/2020 21:44

Jaffa cakes are absolutely deadly to anyone trying to loose weight. They are delicious 😋.

We ordered pizza in for tea and watched a film. Cowboys and aliens. It has Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig in it. It's basically a western with aliens.

Was the height of sophisticated and high brow cinema? No.

Was it entertaining? Abso-fucking-lutely.

Bedtime now as I'm on an 8am-8pm shift tomorrow with idiot deputy manager and I'm crap at holding my tongue when I'm tired.

boatyardblues · 07/10/2020 21:47

Plus Daniel Craig in cowboy outfits. 👌
