Curry I hope you do not mind?
I put the last message in, and didn't find a new thread. Which I found disquiting, so to calm my nerves here goes.

I woke up stupidly early and it was still pitch black outside. I hate winter and the shorter days. The storm seems to have blown through overnight so its quieter, as last night the wind was howling down our chimney. The magpies nesting in the tree outside have now woken up and are making a racket.

giletrouge · 03/10/2020 07:12

I always wake up early nowadays, I've been up since 5.30. My DH, on the other hand, tends to sleep until 9. You're right it's quieter this morning although I think the wind's getting up a bit again now.
Time for some porridge I think. I had raisins in it yesterday. Back to plain today. Just milk and brown sugar.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 03/10/2020 09:31

I've finally managed to make kısır.
The sun is shining but the wind is coldish.
DS got up at 7:30 - I hope he's preparing for two written exams (art and bioligy) next week. But I doubt it.

Does Soddingkitten have another name?

nicky7654 · 03/10/2020 10:04

I have just bought a motor home, two armchairs and have painted my hallway.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 03/10/2020 10:13

I googled motor home (new word for me) - and the pictures that came up were extremely luxurious. One even included transport for a car. Grin

Changed my mind about breakfast and had a delicious boiled egg and toast.
I forgot to say how lovely the cats are! Daisy and Soddingkitten. So beautiful. 💜

Lazysundayafternoons · 03/10/2020 10:17

Going to do the food shop today - this week I wont buy any novelty chocolate goods for the Christmas stockings (because I did that last week and ate then already Blush)

Nydj · 03/10/2020 10:56

@Fyzz

Hello may I join?

A squirrel is burying walnuts in one of my flower beds. He will probably forget them and I will be weeding out mini walnut trees next year.
I got a hearing aid today. Very boring, but imagine if you need glasses and you get them for the very first time!

New hearing aid! Have you got over the novelty of hearing unusual things like your own hair when it moves? And water from the tap suddenly sounding so incredibly loud?

I woke up at 7.45am and switched the radio on to help me go back to sleep. Radio 4 worked a treat and I woke up again after 9am.

I'm back from my run and taking DD to her part time job and am having some yogurt and fruit for breakfast.

Thank you, Daisy is a beautiful girl. We have another in the house named Mingus. He is either a cat or a very, very small lion.

SpeedofaSloth · 03/10/2020 12:34

I hold told DH I am not going to see the ILs this afternoon as I really don't feel like going out.

SpeedofaSloth · 03/10/2020 12:34

*have told

MissConductUS · 03/10/2020 12:34

One of the nice thing about running before sunrise is the chance to really see the night sky. I've been into astronomy since I was a teenager. Out this morning I saw the full moon shining through the clouds, creating a halo. The dot to the lower right of the moon is the planet Mars. It's clearly red when seen by eye but the camera seems to have washed out the color.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 03/10/2020 12:52

Mingus looks like our late Sev - DD missees him but will only get a cat again when she moves out.

OP posts:
Spudlet · 03/10/2020 13:24

Mingus is also very handsome!

Still feeling a bit grim here, but we are muddling through. I’m pining for a run in the woods. Hoping to feel up to it next week at some point.

Debating firing up my laptop and doing some gaming while DS watches a film. DH did some earlier and I am a bit envious. DS (aka Patient Zero) is of course full of beans while the rest of us are fit to drop worth the germs he brought home...!

Frownette · 03/10/2020 14:11

Beautiful cats and kittens :)

I'm still like a drowned rat after going to the supermarket earlier in heavy rain. Bit tired as we stayed up late last night chatting, listening to music and sharing a bottle of white wine.

soddingkitten · 03/10/2020 14:20

@sueelleker

Does Soddingkitten have another name?
He does, but it is identifying. In practice he is beloved and has a decent, fitting name.
Champagneforeveryone · 03/10/2020 15:00

Well, since we're doing gratuitous cat photos... Wink

That is a very fine looking cat, with a bit of attitude as well. Smile

I don't think of cat photos as ever being gratuitous. Our feline overlords require attention and praise.

I went to Shoprite to pick up a few things and was trying to get a bag of coleslaw in the produce department. It and all of the bagged salads are in racks in an open cold case, and there was a woman who was very slowly trying to select a bag of salad greens, minutely examining one bag, putting it back, minutely examining another, etc.

I stood 6 feet away from her for about two minutes, hoping she'd finish, but no such luck. So finally I said "Excuse me, but could I just reach in and get a bag of coleslaw?" She looked at me as if she didn't recognize what species I belonged to, then gave me a dirty look and stepped back a bit.

I went at 9:00 AM. I need to go earlier when the store is empty.

SpeedofaSloth · 03/10/2020 16:12

I have had a lovely afternoon doing washing, mumsnetting and generally lolling about. The heating is on, too. DH and the DC just came back and aren't expecting much from me so I might carry on for a bit longer. Bliss.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 03/10/2020 16:29

DS did his washing and sorted through his socks. Still not sure if he is working.
DD thinks about taking a sign language course at uni, which I think is a great idea.

And this is Sev when he was a kitten of 12 weeks.

The rain is coming in under the back door - I think the weatherboard at the bottom needs replacing!

All the feline pictures are lovely.

Sunbird24 · 03/10/2020 16:42

Sainsbury’s is all out of carrot batons again so I don’t know what to dip in my hummus

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 03/10/2020 16:48

DH spreads his hummus on bread and puts tomatoes and rucola on.

That reminds me of the time I came home from work and the flat was filled with dense white smoke. He forgot to turn the heat down under his chickpeas and then forgot that they were on the oven at all.

Squirrel26 · 03/10/2020 16:49

Crisps! Crisps go in hummus! Grin
