How Often Does Your DH/DP Buy You Flowers?

DH shows he loves me in lots of ways but he tends to only buy me flowers on Valentines Day & sometimes on our Anniversary.

He doesn't. However he does bring me a cup of tea in bed every day and shows his love in many small ways all the time.

CeibaTree · 16/09/2020 12:08

Never and I wouldn't want him to anyway - I find gifts of flowers quite annoying actually!

SierraHotel · 16/09/2020 12:12

3 times in 20 years 😂 so not very often!

srah21 · 16/09/2020 12:13

Hardly ever and I'm happy with that. I would rather the cup of tea or tidy up so I can rest!

DelurkingAJ · 16/09/2020 12:13

If he does the supermarket shop (we usually have a delivery) he often brings me flowers. Valentine’s Day too.

But I agree that, for me, it’s part of a wider picture of little gestures that go both ways.

AnneLovesGilbert · 16/09/2020 12:16

A few times a year. I do the same for him. We both love flowers. I’ve banned him from buying them for valentines or Mother’s Day as the quality is usually crap, esp for the former. So they’re random offerings throughout the year when one of us thinks about it. When I was on maternity leave he sent me a few bouquets telling me what a good job I was doing. I’m sure a lot of people would cringe but I thought it was nice Grin

maxelly · 16/09/2020 12:16

I don't think he ever has Grin ! In his mind flowers are what you buy when someone is sick or has died, or maybe to apologise if you've done something wrong not a romantic thing.

But like others he's generous and kind in many other ways so not something that would cross my mind to be bothered about - I can buy myself flowers if I want them but nothing can replace the small thoughtful/meaningful gestures every day...

MaidofKent78 · 16/09/2020 12:18

Never. I would much rather have the rose bush than the roses...!

insancerre · 16/09/2020 12:19

Not very often but he keeps my wins fridge stocked
Who needs flowers?

Lockdownseperation · 16/09/2020 12:19

Pre covid every couple of months. Just M and S or supermarkets ones.

FizzyPink · 16/09/2020 12:19

Maybe once a month.....usually if he’s annoyed me and is trying to get back into my good books Hmm

Bluntness100 · 16/09/2020 12:21

My husband used to do it on birthdays until I asked him to stop, it was such a thoughtless easy present. I wouldn’t mind randomly but not every single birthday and anniversary,

Although comically he once walked into the bedroom to give me some flowers For my birthday or whatever . It was a huge old bucket full of carnations, I asked him where he got the bucket from, and he said, well they came with the flowers, all confused..

On questioning, What he’d done is pick the whole lot Up off the pavement outside the florists, bucket and all, Went inside and said I’ll take these, not realising you were supposed to just pick a bouquet out of the bucket, so they sold him the lot, bucket included,,,😂

We still have the bucket,,,

LooseMooseHoose · 16/09/2020 12:22

Every few months he'll usually get me something, sometimes flowers, or something that he spotted out and about. Last time was a mini hand cream from L'Occitane while he was there buying his mum a birthday present.

I often bring him little bits home too, it's part of how we show that we appreciate each other.

Reclinehard · 16/09/2020 12:22

Once when he met me at the train station when we were first together. Never since. Chocolate instead.

missmouse101 · 16/09/2020 12:23

Hardly ever, just the odd birthday.

SimpleComforts · 16/09/2020 12:26

Never, which TBF is because I don't like getting them, I'd rather have a living plant.

IME the men who buy flowers a lot are often the ones who treat "their" women badly in so many other ways.

I don't mean occasionally, for a special occasion, but the women who get flowers delivered to work a lot also seem to be the ones who spend a lot of time crying in the loo.

beautifulmonument · 16/09/2020 12:27

Rarely. He knows I'd rather have chocolate and gin.

Collidascope · 16/09/2020 12:28

Every week, when he does the weekly shop.

MonkeyPuddle · 16/09/2020 12:30

Very rarely. Maybe once a year. But he brings me my breakfast every morning and goes on midnight runs to cure my pregnancy cravings.
He’s an absolute keeper.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 16/09/2020 12:32

He used to buy them every couple of months just as a random gesture. “Random Tuesday flowers” as he calls them. And for our anniversary/valentines etc.

Last time he bought me a pot plant instead, so it would last longer (he clearly doesn't know that I’m a shit gardener!) but he doesn’t get me flowers as often as he used to. Sad. Saying that, he doesn’t go to the supermarket as much as he used to, and when he does it’s usually on his bike, so I guess that’s probably why. He will order them especially for special occasions but its usually Waitrose ones for a random Tuesday.

1990shopefulftm · 16/09/2020 12:32

he's bought me them twice I think but we're both hayfever sufferers so a lot of flowers would set us off.

Maverick66 · 16/09/2020 12:36

He knows not to. Total waste of money in my opinion.

incognitomum · 16/09/2020 12:37

CeibaTree same. An exbf once sent 2 dozen red roses to my place of work when I was 19. I was furious! Such a waste.

TinyMetalBirds · 16/09/2020 12:39

Almost never - I love flowers but tend to buy my own. I think maybe he doesn't see them as a proper gift.

herrcomesthenamechanger · 16/09/2020 12:45

Occasionally for special events (not birthdays - things like graduations) and never now he knows I hate being given flowers - it's a chore
