DH shows he loves me in lots of ways but he tends to only buy me flowers on Valentines Day & sometimes on our Anniversary.

The last time was in 1999. I get a coffee and bacon butty in bed after a nice long lie in most weekends which is much more important to me. We don't do gifts at birthdays or Christmas either.

Never. I don’t like the idea of the flowers being picked and then dying, besides which if they die and you don’t chuck them straight away they drop petals all over the carpet etc etc.

He does do lots of other things though so I have no issue with that.

And we don’t do valentines.

He doesn't I don't want them, I feel they're pretty but a waste. I'd rather have the money to buy a top or something. X

Rarely when I was married as I didn't like receiving them as it was usually linked to some prior shit.

Now that I am divorced and happily single I buy my own, not all the time but every few months. I love seeing fresh flowers on my table now.

Always on Valentine's Day and my birthday and often but not always on our anniversary. Very very occasionally at other times, if I've had a really bad week or we've rowed and he knows he's in the wrong but is incapable of actually admitting it - they are his admission. Fine by me. Grin

DH bought me 100 roses in our first ever Valentine’s Day, and made a rod for his own back by promising he’d buy me 100 for every year we were together.

So last year I got 900 roses on Valentine’s Day 😂 and this year we opened our own florist!

Some may say he’s done it to keep costs down 😂

Every couple of months. He'll often buy me something if he's gone into town for something for himself. It could be flowers, chocolates, a jigsaw, etc.

I love flowers and our garden isn't flower friendly. This year I've been sent lots of flowers by friends and DP liked having a bunch in the house. He'll encourage me to get them if we're out together.

Never- I don't like cut flowers tbh. He will do random other lovely things that I do like though

I usually have fresh flowers in the house most weeks due to dh. He knows I love fresh flowers so will buy them when the last lot dies.

Never. Just the right amount imo.

Once a month on the 'anniversary' of the date we met. Not always cut flowers though, sometimes he'll get me a pot plant instead Smile

DP has never bought me flowers, which is absolutely fine by me. I dislike floral smells and I’m probably allergic them anyway.

He knows very well that 🍷 is a much more acceptable gift, and brings back a bottle of local wine every time he goes away on a work trip.

He’s well trained Grin.

He doesn’t, I have a cat so he knows I dislike having flowers in the flat as many are poisonous. I used to buy him flowers before he moved in, maybe once a month. Now he lives here I tend to buy/do small things/wine rather than flowers. He tends to buy me plants or things to go with the plants, he bought an elephants ear plant last week.

I love flowers, we have a garden full of them hence he only buys me some once in a blue moon.

I’d rather a plant than flowers

I hate that they just are dying on front of you

I get then every Friday.. he literally comes in the door every Friday evening shouting I've got a gift for you.. but in reality it isn't for me.. he likes to have fresh Flowers in the house all the time.. I couldn't give a damn.. I'd rather he came home with a bar of galaxy!

I thought I was the only one whose dh rarely buys flowers but from there posts I can see I’m not the only one. I don’t really mind, mine hardly last even if I change the water regularly.

Probably once a month , more often if he has spare money. He knows I love fresh flowers and will even move them around the house depending on where I am (that sounds wierd so if I'm working a lot he will move them into my desk , I mentioned last week I had tidied up my dressing room so he moved a vase to it because he knows I like them there.). They aren't expensive ones at all. In fact bless him he is a bargain hunter so will proudly tell me he got a bunch in sale.

The only ones he can't bring himself too are the ones with cabbages in that I really like, but he ends up standing the shop muttering that he can't buy me vegetables it is too weird ( ds1 told me 😂😂😂 apparently ds1 said "yes but mum likes them" and apparently he just sighed and said "ds1 I just can't its bloody cabbages 😂😂)

After exdh who bought me (unwanted would be cool if wanted ) camping gear for birthdays and Christmas it's a lovely change.

Same, valentines and anniversary, occasionally if I'm particularly poorly or down in the dumps. He does however buy me lots of other little gifts - he's always ordering me random silly crap off the internet that he thinks will make me laugh, or bringing me food treats he's seen and thinks I'll like. So I'll let him off about the flowers.

LoveLanky · 16/09/2020 17:54

Never, I dislike them.

He brought me a small gift yesterday though.

Once or twice in 15 years? When I’ve asked?!

He makes up for it in other ways.

a couple of times, in 20 yrs of marriage, but that's just because they're not his thing. He will often surprise me with a thoughtfully chosen book, but he doesn't really see the point of flowers.

Never been married over 30 years. Why would I want flowers ? It's all a bit cliché would much prefer a cuppa in bed etc
