What food brands do you not compromise on

Light-hearted

I really don't think we are a good brand snob family.

We use supermarket own baked beans / ketchup / bread butter etc where ever cheaper.

However I do like my instant coffee and squash to be our normal brands.
This morning my daughter refused her cereal as it tasted horrible and I had swapped our crunchy nut to Tesco branded and I agreed with her I could really taste the difference which I was surprised about.

What items do you not compromise on ?

Heinz
Kelloggs
Anything else is fair game.

Flossie44 · 09/09/2020 14:17

Teabags!! Always PG Tips!!

FrolickingLemon · 09/09/2020 14:20

wewillmeetagain · 09/09/2020 14:21

Tea bags and coffee

Kab30 · 09/09/2020 14:22

Marmite

pinkbalconyrailing · 09/09/2020 14:22

a certain curry sauce/ketchup.
doritos
anything else is fair game.

Redannie118 · 09/09/2020 14:23

Heinz ketchup- dont mind smart price beans- just add a squirt of ketchup and they all taste the same
Own brand cola

ilovemydogandMrObama · 09/09/2020 14:25

Malden Salt
Colemans mustard
Aldi Free Range chicken (does this count?)

Fairly liberal on the other stuff

beguilingeyes · 09/09/2020 14:25

Welsh Brew Tea always. It's the best.

Heinz tomato ketchup. We keep going to poncey burger bars that make their own and it's always rank.

Sairafina · 09/09/2020 14:28

Heinz tomato soup. DH poured the Baxter's down the sink 😂

Mamadothehump · 09/09/2020 14:28

Heinz ketchup
Heinz baked beans (I'm not bothered about this one but DD2 can genuinely taste the difference.)

I think that's it!!

BabyLlamaZen · 09/09/2020 14:28

Marmite. Can't deal with that own brand yeast extract.

And for some reason ketchup.

Oh and peanut butter! The grey own brand one with the oil on the top? Envy yuck not envy

bloodywhitecat · 09/09/2020 14:29

Bird's Eye peas.

Sunshineandsparkle · 09/09/2020 14:30

Heinz for ketchup, Nescafé gold for coffee and Hellman’s for mayo. Most other things I don’t mind supermarket brands for.

Snowpatrolling · 09/09/2020 14:30

Tuna. Will only eat John west!
Princes at a push but John west in spring water.
Found skin And bones in a supermarket brand tuna once and put me off for life!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 09/09/2020 14:32

Peanut butter. I only buy Whole Earth.
Coffee.
Honey. Very costly item as I only buy manuka, it's £13.99 at Asda.
Walkers crisps.
Fairy liquid.

I'm not fussy about tinned stuff (although I don't buy much), dry goods like pasta/rice or things like loo roll.

sqirrelfriends · 09/09/2020 14:34

Tea - has to be Yorkshire tea.

Other than that it's more down to quality of ingredients, so no palm oil in my peanut butter, just peanuts. Also cakes from a bakery if not home made, the ones in boxes that keep for months don't do anything for me.

AriesTheRam · 09/09/2020 14:38

Coffee has to be Lidl barista americano .Its better than any other.

Heinz salad cream.

Comfort intense fabric conditioner.th blue one.

yawnsvillex · 09/09/2020 14:41

Coca Cola

Lemming20 · 09/09/2020 14:43

HP

BanditsBum · 09/09/2020 14:44

Tea and coffee - I have tried loads of own brands but none beat PG Tips or Lavazza.

Digestives, only McVities will do.

Octopuscrazy · 09/09/2020 14:45

Hellman's mayo
Heinz ketchup
Coffee
Coca-Cola

Yesyoudoknowme · 09/09/2020 14:46

Kenco coffee
Heinz ketchup (they must be doing something right - this is coming up a lot!)
Kelloggs (don't buy much though)
Bachelors cup a soup
DH only buys tea from the Brew Co. But that is because it is pretty much the only place you can get decaff loose tea.
YeoValley yoghurt

Ariela · 09/09/2020 14:46

Hellman's mayo. PG Tips now they've compostable bags.
Prefer Waitrose baked beans to Heinz though.

BrandyandBabycham · 09/09/2020 14:47

Mayo - has to Be Hellmanns
Baked Beans - I will stray but you can’t really beat Heinz
Cheerios - tried Aldi equivalent & hated them
Peas/Petitpois - has to be Birdseye
