HELP!! What have we done??? Pic attached

DH and I live in military housing and had the bright idea that painting our hallway would be a great idea!

There was some good logic behind it. We moved in when it was newly built in 2017 and the walls just had a matt white base coat on them. With two young kids, the walls have become, let’s just say, less white!

We bought some matt but wipeable sage green paint but it looks awful now it’s done. This pic doesn’t show the severity but it’s much darker than we hoped/expected. We have some things to put on the walls which might help but I’m really upset about it. I think it doesn’t help that every other wall in the house is plain white 😩

DH would definitely throttle me if I say I want to change the colour so that’s not an option.

Any ideas on how I can improve this?

I really thought this rug would look great but I’m very unsure. I still need to replace the doormat and light shade, as well as buy a shelf for under the mirror on the right hand side of the door.

Is the rug a mistake?

The lighting is better in the first pic, you can see how the colours look together in natural daylight.

For what it's worth I think it looks lovely!

It’s loving lovely. Have you thought about something above the radiator? A large picture perhaps and a shelf perhaps? Or some coat hooks?

Rug is fab. I would say that as I have the same one (big version) in my living room Grin

If you ever need to swap your downstairs doors, you could go for ones that are half glass, or full glass. That will massively increase the light flow through the house.

It looks so much better with the pictures and rug though too.

Rug looks nice. Any chance of putting a big mirror above the radiator? It would help reflect light from upstairs.

Oh wow I've never had the energy to paint an MQ knowing it would have to be reverted not long after, you're lucky to have such a modern house that isn't magnolia lol! I think it looks fine, and certainly wouldn't paint again.
