I like Imagine though and I don’t have beef with the Beautiful South- in fact I find 36D weirdly motivating even though the lyrics are...concerning.

Just RTFT and see the awful song is by Beautiful South. Its horrendous. Makes me want to kill both singers.

I hate Beautiful South songs as well. There is something that is just so smug about their lyrics, so 'can you see what we did there, aren't we clever?' that really, really irritates me, and for the same reason I hate 'we didn't start the fire' by Billy Joel.
Torn by Natalie Imbruglia. I can never understand why this is played so often by radio 2. It's an old, middle of the road, song. What has she got on the BBC that they keep playing it?

And one I hate for a very good reason...

I just called to say I love you by Stevie Wonder. Stevie is a musical genius, and the classic albums he made in the 70s are amongst the very greatest in the history of popular music. It is just such a shame, however, that this awful, trite, saccharine ditty was his biggest hit in the U.K. and is the song for which he is best known here.

I hate "Shape of You" by Ed Sheeran. My kids play it to annoy me.

I hate the lyrics about "I'm in love with your body", "I'm in love with the shape of you". She has no personality. She's just a body. Is that supposed to be romantic?

I don’t share the hate for the Beautiful South, but I can see why they are disliked. Wit and irony don’t often work in pop music - they just go straight over most people’s heads, and TBF’s output includes plenty of both.
