For me, its love shack by the B52s. 😫

Dancing in the moonlight is like nails down a blackboard for me

shreddednips · 04/09/2020 09:06

EasilyDeleted, I think that's the worst song of all time. I have miserable memories of playing it in school music lessons, no idea why they chose it. That and the almost equally miserable Scarborough Fair

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 04/09/2020 09:29

So many choices that I agree with here. For me, it's the ones that are really popular at weddings because they "get everyone dancing" - Come On Eileen is an especially heinous example - or the stuff that is chosen by people who don't really like music when they're asked for their favourite song, because they're "classics" - that's where Imagine and Bohemian Rhapsody come in. I would add:

Pretty Woman by Roy Orbison
Wild Thing by The Troggs
Anything by The Eagles, but especially Hotel California
Sex on Fire by Kings of Leon
That vile song by The Weeknd about how great he is at sex compared to other men - I can't remember the title but I can't physically bear to hear it. I have been known to leave shops when it starts playing over the PA system.

Poppet1974 · 04/09/2020 09:31

Angels by Robbie Williams..... it actually makes me cross when I hear it 😳

feistyoneyouare · 04/09/2020 09:41

Fairytale of New York

Don't mind the song but find all the hype around it so tiresome, plus the fact that it and and 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' seem to be the only Christmas songs that get played on the bloody radio these days.

EasilyDeleted · 04/09/2020 09:50

Yes to Scarborough Fair and Hotel California, both bloody awful.

MadameBlobby · 04/09/2020 09:53

@thesunwillout

Oh god Perfect Ten, I loathe that song.

I hate The Beautiful South!

Me too, can’t stand them
Mashingthecompost · 04/09/2020 09:53

I really dislike Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand. I once laid in bed semi delerious with a kidney infection (I didn't know at the time) and just had the beat of it stuck on a loop in my head while I had madmaking repetitive dreams, it was on the radio that I'd left on. I disliked it before that, the feverish association just cemented it for me. It was my 'Easy Street'. If it came on the radio now while I was driving I'd be worried I'd crash.

Mashingthecompost · 04/09/2020 09:55

Ha, Beautiful South - Blue is the Colour was one of the first albums I bought, not knowing what it would be like. Good god it was awful. I listened to the whole thing and felt ill after. Someone needs to study it and find out what it is about them that causes such a visceral reaction.

EasilyDeleted · 04/09/2020 09:56

What's that awful one by Meatloaf, I want you, I need you but there ain't no way I'm ever going to love you. LTB!

Mashingthecompost · 04/09/2020 09:57

*delirious! God. I'm tired.

iklboo · 04/09/2020 09:57

MadameBlobby · 04/09/2020 10:00

Against all Odds

Build Me Up Buttercup
Just Want To Dance The Night Away

Yes! Absolutely terrible

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 04/09/2020 10:01

Thinking Outloud by Ed Sheeran (is that what it’s called?) it’s whiney wank.

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 04/09/2020 10:03

I too have a visceral reaction to most Beautiful South songs - their very early stuff was inoffensive, I think it was when Jackie Abbott joined that they went downhill. The Perfect Ten is bloody terrible.

Tenementfunster · 04/09/2020 10:04

All the embarrassing ones... Sonetimes when we touch (the honesty’s too much). 🤢. That Minnie Ripperton one with the twinkly yuckiness. I’m sure she was a lovely lady but yuck.
Chasing Cars. Bloody awful
It’s a wonderful life - was it by Black?
Donnie Dario cover of the tears for fears song. I’m just glad my oven is electric to stop me putting my head in it

Tenementfunster · 04/09/2020 10:11

I feel it coming but the Weeknd. Dirty sod

NotExactlyMrsCurrentAffairs · 04/09/2020 10:14

I agree with you on Love shack OP, I detest that song!

Alanna Myles-Black Velvet

Lots of others that have already been mentioned especially Buble

iklboo · 04/09/2020 10:17

Totally gone off Mickey Bubbles since that video with his wife.

iklboo · 04/09/2020 10:20

Kelly Marie's Feels Like I'm In Love has me running for the hills. The year it was out a travelling fair set up on spare ground across the road from our house. All the waltzers played 10am - 10pm for six weeks was that bloody song. PTSD - Pop Trash Sickening Disorder.

foxyroxyy · 04/09/2020 10:23

H
Happy. Pharrel. I hate it

evilharpy · 04/09/2020 10:24

Your Song by Elton John or Ellie Golding - hate both versions

Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves - can't listen to it. Despise it.

Dance the Night Away (think it's the Mavericks?) - awful dreary song.

timegoesbysoslowly · 04/09/2020 10:32

Agree with Fairground by simply red, can now hear that drum bit in my head!

Also Beautiful South, my DP loves them, but such terrible songs, Rotterdam, perfect 10

Also hate that one by eternal I think? I wanna be the only one? Always on the radio it goes on and on, I wanna be the only one yeah yeah yeah, repeat
