I’ve had to get up at 6.30 today and I feel hard done by Grin

That’s going to be our routine pretty much from now on as DC has started secondary and the bus is so early.

Used to be 7...

Younger DC can stay in bed until about 7

And what time do your kids get up? I feel a bit bad so I’m hoping we’re not that unusual. Daft bludy school starting at 8.15, I’m not morning person 😂

My primary age dc are going back to school next week and I'll set an alarm for 7.10 with a view to us all being up for 7.30. The school are doing staggered starts and we have to set off no later than 8.30. It will be a bit if a shock to the system after lock down to be honest! I think you're hard done by too!

Due to earlier start time for one, and major roadworks, we need to leave by 8.15. So it's 7.30 tomorrow. (It was 8.35 last year). That's giving me 30mims to drive 2 miles... Hopefully that will be sufficient. (That's two miles from countryside into town with no safe cycling route before I get laziness comments)

Previous schools we had to leave at 7am (for 7.20 start) and 8.05 for 8.15 school bus, so this should be straight forward...

AlwaysLatte · 02/09/2020 10:15

Youngest yr6 started today, he wanted to get up at 6.30 so he could get showered and ready then spare time for Xbox. Yr8 starts on Friday and we're driving rather than bus because of CV so we'll have a later start than we did have last year. We've all been getting up late these last 6 months, I think we'll all be getting early nights!

RainbowRaine · 02/09/2020 10:15

Need to be out the door at 7.30am

AriettyHomily · 02/09/2020 10:16

The alarm went off today for the first time since lockdown at 615am for DH (teacher). The kids and I could get up at 715 for school.

When I was in the office I got up at 6.

It was a shock this morning!

Mamagotskills · 02/09/2020 10:17

7:30 to leave at 8:30

YerAWizardHarry · 02/09/2020 10:18

DS starts school at 9, we need to leave at 8.40 at the latest. Sometimes we don't get up til 8 although try and aim for 7.30ish

BrandNewShinyThings · 02/09/2020 10:23

Ugh dreading this, have to be up at 6.30 tomorrow and wake DS at 7, we've spent weeks lounging around in our PJs all morning, its going to be a nasty shock tomorrow Shock

XFPW · 02/09/2020 10:24

DH is the first one up in our house at 5.15am. He is currently working from home, but shower times have to be strictly managed to ensure everyone can be ready on time and he is first on the list! (To be fair though, when he was in the office he used to be up at that time anyway as he left at 6.30am so he could be at his desk and working by 7am.)

DS is up at 5.30am, DD1 at 5.45am, Me & DTs at 6am.

DS leaves any time between 6.50am and 7.10am depending on the weather. (if he’s walking to the station or getting a lift)

DD1 leaves between 7.20am and 7.30am, again depending on whether she gets a lift to the station or not.

Neither are particularly quick in the morning. They could sleep in a bit later if they could move quicker once up, but that seems to be beyond them!

DTs and I leave at 8.10am to walk or drive to my school, and then DTs walk on to their school once I go in at 8.30am. We have the most relaxed morning and we are never in a rush, but they often have time to read before school which they like.

Namechange8471 · 02/09/2020 10:24

We’re up at 6.30, out of the door 7.20. You’re not alone op.

oldwhyno · 02/09/2020 10:24

First day of a new routine and it seems like 7am is the new normal.

isthismylifenow · 02/09/2020 10:26

5.30am. Our school starts at 7.20am

actiongirl1978 · 02/09/2020 10:28

Dd12 gets bus at 7am so we leave at 6.45, I am normally up around 5 to fit in a workout and get ready myself before doing DD then coming home and getting DS10 ready to leave at 7.45. I then drive him to school which is 30mins then back to our village where I start work.

I think you all have very easy mornings Grin

itsgettingweird · 02/09/2020 10:30

Used to leave for work at 8 so up at 6.30.

Now start 8.30 so going to start setting alarm for 7!

Except for the days I have to get up at 5.30 to take ds morning training Grin

The fact one of those is a Saturday isn't good!

itsgettingweird · 02/09/2020 10:31

Da is starting college and he's in Monday at 9 but doesn't have full timetable yet.

I will drop him off if in at 9 on workdays.

So I expect he'll get up 7/7.30am except when he has to get up at 5.30 for swimming!

sitckmansladylove · 02/09/2020 10:33

We have to be out of the door at 8.20am to drop dc to cm.
So today 7am but i dont usually get up until 7.30- 7.40
I do the lunches lay out uniform everything the night before. No tv. We have breakfast dishes out etc.

Notonthestairs · 02/09/2020 10:33

6.30 to shower and then sort dog out before kids come down. One child leaves at 7.55. The other is driven and we leave by 8.35 (although I aim for 8.25)

Dreading it although after a week or so we will be back in the swing of things (I hope).

FilledSoda · 02/09/2020 10:33

I set the alarm for 6 , 5am seems awfully early indeed.
I never feel as though I've had sufficient sleep even though 10pm is my absolute cut off for lights out.
Are the 5 & 6 am risers going to bed much earlier than 10pm ?

itsgettingweird · 02/09/2020 10:36

No. Ds and I tend to go to bed at 10pm every night.
I find it easier to keep to going to sleep routine to manage the various get ups!

But we also don't get in until 9.30/45pm 3 times a week either because as well as the 6am leaving for morning swimming he trains evenings as well!

Kaktus · 02/09/2020 10:37

Have to be up around 7.15 but the toddler gets up at 5.30 so I’m up from then.

tiredanddangerous · 02/09/2020 10:38

7 because none of us seem to be able to do anything particularly quickly first thing in the morning.

itsgettingweird · 02/09/2020 10:38

Actually the evenings we get in 9.45 bedtime is probably more 10.30/11.

It just works out that these are the evenings we can get up at 7.

The only one where we get in at 9.30 and have to be up at 5.30 in a Friday night. So despite us being tried as end of week at least we can have a siesta on a Saturday Grin

FluffyTRex · 02/09/2020 10:39

My alarm is set for 6.45 so I can have a bit of time to wake myself up before the kids are up at 7. Leave the house at about half past eight.
