I’ve had to get up at 6.30 today and I feel hard done by Grin

That’s going to be our routine pretty much from now on as DC has started secondary and the bus is so early.

Used to be 7...

DS is starting secondary tomorrow, needs to leave the house at 7:30 so will need to set alarms for 6:30 Shock

We've been lazing about in bed till after 9 for the last 6 months so it's going to be rough

AriesTheRam · 02/09/2020 10:47

School is 5 min walk away.We get up at 7.30 leave at 8.35

BiBabbles · 02/09/2020 10:47

My DDs have their alarms set for 6:40, they both like to have a bath and chill in the morning before leaving. DD1 used to leave before 8, but now they're not meant to get in earlier than 8:30 anymore, so she and her sister timed the trip and leave at 8:15.

DS wakes at 7:30 to leave at 8:30.

I'm not involved in their mornings, but prefer to be up and awake & chat with them a bit before they leave. I try to get up before my DDs most days so I have the bathroom first, otherwise I need to wait for the gap between them and my DS & hope my lodger doesn't jump in there as well... (one of the wants for our new place is more than one bathroom)

We all get up at 7 for school. Was hard today !!

Chilver · 02/09/2020 10:48

Me, between 5am and 6am to get some work and exercise in before DD wakes at 7.30-8am to be at school by 8.40.

PaperMonster · 02/09/2020 10:50

6.30am and leave the house at 8.30am. Child gets up at 7.30am.

CMOTDibbler · 02/09/2020 10:50

Up at 7, ds leaves for school at 8.20.

WhatHaveIFound · 02/09/2020 10:54

It used to be 6.30am but now that DD has finished school we get a bit of a lie in. New time will be 7.30am going forward as DS has a shorter commute.

sHREDDIES19 · 02/09/2020 10:54

I'm also not a morning person and try to leave it as late as possible! Kids start back Friday so will set alarm for 7:30, I'll leave my son to sleep until 8:00, my daughter is usually awake around 7-7:30 anyway. Out the door for 8:50.

YummyJamDoughnut · 02/09/2020 10:55

I start work at 8, so I get up at 6 and leave by 7 at the latest.
Older kids can set an alarm and sort themselves out. If they're late, they deal with the consequences.
Obviously with primary/younger kids it's different.

YummyJamDoughnut · 02/09/2020 10:58

That said- I will yell up the stairs/bang on the door if not up by 7!

wherethewavesarehighest · 02/09/2020 11:01

6am, but my dd always gets up early. We live a 15 minute walk from school so we have a long morning before we leave.
You have my sympathy, I used to be a morning person until I had a child who put my early waking to shame Grin

HasaDigaEebowai · 02/09/2020 11:02

I get up at 6 (or earlier).

Kids get up at 6.30 to leave the house by 7.20 to catch school bus at 7.30.

YgritteSnow · 02/09/2020 11:02

Year 9 up at 7.30, leave for 8.15 to be there for 8.30, I drive her.

When she was in primary we got up at 8.30 to be there for 9. School five minutes walk and we managed get up, get dressed, wash and breakfast in 25 minutes. I miss those days.

Candyflosscookie · 02/09/2020 11:04

I'm up around half 7 to let the dog out and have a coffee in peace. Teen DC gets up around 8 to leave house at half 8, only has a 10 minute walk to school.

I'm in Scotland so we've been back a couple of weeks now and getting used to it again, slowly. My body clock has taken a while to adjust though as we are naturally night owls and I was basically nocturnal during lockdown Blush 🦇

earthyfire · 02/09/2020 11:06

7am, I have two children at two different schools in different directions and both are going back at staggered times which will be later than usual times. Also, surprise surprise roads works have just started all over the place too - so school runs should be fun.

seven201 · 02/09/2020 11:08

@isthismylifenow

5.30am. Our school starts at 7.20am
What? School starts at 7.20??? Ouch.

I have to get my dd to breaksfast club so will leave the house at 7.40 so I can get to my school in time. 6.35 my alarm goes off but I love the snooze button Blush. My dh leaves for work 5.30 / 6 but he's pretty quiet.

Pascha · 02/09/2020 11:08

Mine are early risers by nature so they are generally downstairs by about 6.15am. I'm usually up by 6.30, occasionally 7am.

BluebirdHill · 02/09/2020 11:12

I also have naturally early riser DC but we need to make better use of the time the night before to get everything ready, I have now realised.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 02/09/2020 11:15

I get up at 6 anyway. The dc have to be up at 7 latest, although they're normally awake within 5 minutes of me flushing the loo. Because of the staggered times we're leaving at 8:30 (which is our usual time Mon-Wed) & 8:10 Thur & Fri, so I will probably get them up 6:30 those 2 days just to make sure we leave on time.

Schmeebles · 02/09/2020 11:21

Up at 7:20 to leave the house at 8:20 for school starting at 8:50.

What a reassuring thread! I always had the feeling that we were getting up hours later than everyone else.

Bluewavescrashing · 02/09/2020 11:24

I'm teaching 3 days a week. DCs will be in breakfast club by 7.45 so we'll leave hone at 7.30. Up at 6.30

Urgh

Natsku · 02/09/2020 11:28

Depends on the day as DD has varying start times so Mondays and Fridays have to get up at 6:30 as she starts at 8, Tuesdays and Wednesdays 8:30 as she starts at 10 and on Thursdays at 7:30 for 9 o'clock start. I try to wake DD up about 10 minutes or so after I get up but she's been known to wait until 5 minutes before she needs to leave before getting out of bed. She is not a morning person.

Naturally on the 6:30 days toddler DS sleeps in late and on the 8:30 days he wakes up around 7 or so to ruin my mini lie-in.

Deelish75 · 02/09/2020 12:10

School start times have changed due to Covid.
I get up at 6.30, DC between then and 7.
We have breakfast about 7.15.
DS needs to leave at 8
DD and I leave at 8.30.

Normal times
I get up at 6.30, DC between then and 7.
Breakfast at 7.
DS needs to leave at 7.30
DD and I leave at 8.20.

ShinyGreenElephant · 02/09/2020 12:13

I get up between 5 and 6 (decided by DD2) and I get DD11 up at the last possible minute which is about 7am - she needs to leave by 8.20 and takes FOREVER in the mornings. I have everything ready for her when she wakes up plus breakfast, tea etc but she still moves at a glacial pace and its a fight to kick her out the door on time
