@DominaShantotto Clearly the new message will be "save the NHS - move to a bungalow" and people using upstairs rooms will be shamed on local Facebook pages.

PourMeADrink · 26/08/2020 08:08

Annoyed about all the u turns from the government.

Why do they have to always back down to the level of those still cowering at home. Each time they mention confidence so clearly it's about that more than anything else. Bloody angry.

SomewhereEast · 26/08/2020 08:08

@Iamalltheyhavenow I'm personally highly amused that I - a Lab /Lib voting Remainer type - am agreeing with Tory backbenchers Grin. Interesting that the economy has just overtaken health as the public's main concern in YouGov polling. I think we're possibly coming to a tipping point. It feels like criticism of hard lockdowns has gone mainstream now & everyone just seems weary & wanting to get back to their lives.

That's DH stuffed then. He barely comes downstairs other than to eat these days. Humph.

PourMeADrink · 26/08/2020 08:11

I'm in a bungalow. Can I be all virtuous and judge those in houses or non ground floor flats Grin.

countrygirl99 · 26/08/2020 09:08

@BogRollBOGOF doesn't he care about the poor overworked giant doctor? What kind of heartless beast is he?
@PourMeADrink perhaps we should have a weekly clap for bungalow dwellers.

countrygirl99 · 26/08/2020 09:10

Perhaps this is a safe place to confess that not only do I go up and down stairs several times a day but, being an old cottage, they are narrow, steep and twisty. It's people like me that will bring the NHS to it's knees.

NothingIsWrong · 26/08/2020 09:14

Three floor house here - up and down stairs ALL the time. For shame.

Yes yes. A weekly clap for me who is single handily saving the NHS whilst you all risk our lives going up and down your stairs.

👏

@DominaShantotto hope your DD's wrist heals quickly. It will make all that handwashing at school interesting!

Bungalows ain't all they're cracked up to be. PILs live in one & have both fallen getting in / out of the threshold step of the back door.

Every building is a death trap! We all need to stay in bed (but only if your bed has a mattress to prevent pressure sores).

110APiccadilly · 26/08/2020 09:26

@DominaShantotto Hope your DD's wrist heals well and quickly.

@TheOrchidKiller Don't you know that more people die in a bed than anywhere else?! How dare you suggest we should spend more time in such a dangerous place!

Worldgonecrazy · 26/08/2020 09:42

I had to use the National Covid Service yesterday for a small fracture. In and out of A&E in just over an hour. There are some benefits to the current situation. Pre Covid I would have expected to be there for around 6 to 8 hours.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 26/08/2020 09:44

Ooh I am very pleased about the new concept of danger-stairs! I've been missing the simpler times when we could happily danger-buffoon to the local garden centre and collapse the NHS as we merrily made our murderous way round the perrenials. We're redoing our hall / stairs / landing at the moment and are planning on a tiled floor downstairs and uncarpeted wooden stairs. Danger central! The giant doctor will be so disappointed in me. Grin

TheOrchidKiller · 26/08/2020 09:47

@110APiccadilly
Good point. I believe there was once a report that falling over whilst putting on trousers was a big source of trips to A&E.

But don't tell NS or she'll make the case for everyone wearing kilts full-time in Scotland. And then Boris will make kilts compulsory in England. Drakeford will think about kilts for a good long while before suggesting they get worn on a Tuesday afternoon, maybe. We won't get to hear about NI's stance on kilts because the media seem to have forgotten they exist.

"Avoid trousers, save lives!"

TheOrchidKiller · 26/08/2020 09:49

@Worldgonecrazy
Hope the fracture heals well. I hope it wasn't a trouser-related injury.

countrygirl99 · 26/08/2020 09:51

@110APiccadilly the local first respoderscran a resuscitate course in the village. They said most people have heart attacks in bed in the small hours of the morning. So to be really sar

  1. bungalow or ground floor only.
  2. stay up all night and go to bed during the day ( with pressure mattress)
  3. don't wear trousers. Is there anything else we need to cover?
Pixel7777 · 26/08/2020 09:52

The masks in schools in England is only going to be compulsory in lockdown areas so not very many- with schools being free to make their own decisions elsewhere

So think ours should be Ok as sound like they want to keep it as normal as possible. They have said prior to this, it is up to the children but we will update if gov says they have to. Will wait and see.

in the Times is a article about all some schools are doing, sounds very varied and nothing like ours. Its basically same as normal apart from the things the gov has said they have to do...big school as well, normal timetables etc.

Pixel7777 · 26/08/2020 09:53

They never say Nicola does a u turn do they, she has had schools back without masks and only brought it in after cases in schools there...

now it is all she did it first (yes due to schools going back in Aug)...Hmm

TheOrchidKiller · 26/08/2020 10:02

We have a very sensible head at our secondary so I doubt they will enforce masks unless there's a local lockdown. The message before the holiday was that if parents wanted their child to wear a mask to school in September they needed to discuss it with the school first.

They are really keen to have the students back in ASAP. Fingers crossed.

@Countrygirl99
Best not wear pajamas, just to be on the safe side. Floral nighties for all please. No buttons (choking hazard). No zips (entrapment risk). In fact, best avoid all clothing. Except foot-wear, just in case there's broken glass. But make sure there are no heels & it lets the feet breathe because Athlete's Foot is nasty.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 26/08/2020 10:07

@TheOrchidKiller your safety measures simply do not go far enough. What we all need to do is die a non-covid death, immediately. How many dead people have died of Covid, huh? That's right, NONE. ZERO. Being dead is the best way to avoid sadly dying. The numbers don't lie.

ISaySteadyOn · 26/08/2020 10:40

Grin You are all brilliant. I am very glad to know you.

Willow2017 · 26/08/2020 10:46

Judging by posts on MN.and SM and all our politicians the zombie apocalypse has already happened and we missed it!

Pixel7777 · 26/08/2020 10:49

And remember to be careful when clapping could do yourself an injury there. Did you see they have decided singing is OK as long as it is quiet or something. We had to sit through year 6 silently listening to their leavers song which was a bit rubbish, in a huge church...

Pixel7777 · 26/08/2020 10:53

I'm going swimming later, am supposed to go wearing the costume although it is fine to change after in a cubicle. One toilet will be open others with crosses on them, same with the shower, so we all have to use the same one..

then have to go out via the strange concrete fire escape through an underground car park to avoid going past others coming in through the large main lobby and door.

The thought of it depressed me but I love swimming so thanks to these threads will just try and laugh at it all and get on with my swim.

it would be so easy just to avoid it all and hide...

Willow2017 · 26/08/2020 10:57

It's utterly ridiculous that toilets are closed off so more people use the same one!!! Do they think it will creep under the door?
