If you are from Yorkshire, where are you from and what do you call the crumbs that fall off fried fish?

Asking for a friend...

Can you have a scrap butty? How does that work? Plain, with curry sauce?

Bits (and teacakes) here too. Wakefield. Caused no end of trouble when I moved down south and asked for haddock, skinned, and a tea cake. I was given a fish cake. What kind of person wants fish and chips and a fish cake?!?

Penguin34 · 09/08/2020 20:43

I never even knew there was a name for the bits off fish!

RunningNinja79 · 09/08/2020 20:43

From York and we called them Scraps.

Now live near Darlington and I have no idea up here TBH. Do love a fish and chips tea though

A scrap butty is scraps in a buttered bread cake!

MeMyselfAye · 09/08/2020 20:55

My dp from Yorkshire says scraps, we don’t have them where I’m from, bloody amazing though!

Marmite27 · 09/08/2020 20:56

And Pontefract - definitely West Yorkshire Grin now Leeds. All scraps. Sorry.

Marmite27 · 09/08/2020 20:57

This is a scallop!

Marmite27 · 09/08/2020 20:58

@InDubiousBattle

Scraps, I'm in West Yorkshire (Bradford). My friend in Halifax says 'bits' though. What do you call two pieces of potato with a thin layer of fish in the middle (then battered)? This seems to cause more arguments among my Friends!
The above was in reply to this Confused
