Definately abnormal anyone who thinks we can live like this long term is deluded.

Sorry about the wedding that really sucks. How long can these venues survive without customers? Do they think people will wait forever?

Am pissed off at myself because after a few insomnia nights I slept all bloody morning and it's actually properly sunny for the first time this week! Getting outside to clear up my pits and front disaster area of weeds.

Living the dream!

Dowser · 06/08/2020 13:35

@IAintentDead

Yesss!

Going to start using that..let’s prick their bubble.
Show ‘them’ people can still think outside the box.

@countrygirl99
Didn’t your son move to Denmark with his new wife ( not that he ditched the old one..oops) 😂

I’m on a losing weight kick , rather than losing the will, just in case we do go to tenerife in October.
The heat will kill me with this extra tonnage I’m carrying.
So, I’m cutting portions..mr Dowser is definitely a feeder.
My new abnormal is that current abnormal is two Belgian choc covered rice cakes with half a banana..they come in a pack of three and with the old normal I’d I have that with a full banana
Now I’ll be nosing around for something extra, later on
Then he force feeds me his home fermented sauerkraut 🤢
Bleurgh..but I need the probiotics to get my gut flora into shape.

@IAintentDead I’ve completely stopped saying social distancing now. I just say physical distancing. Because we are allowed and should be encouraged to be social in whatever way suits. I think dementors like the phrase because of its implications of isolation and misery.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 06/08/2020 13:47

Gah I’m so pissed off. Arranged my entire week to buy and take delivery of a new appliance today. Delivery 7-7. Got an email at half 9 saying “sorry, not today. We’ll be in touch lol!!!111!”.

(It didn’t say lol, but might have well as)

I fear too the phrase “new normal” and its acceptance. I don’t want my kids to live in a world where THIS is it.

Dowser · 06/08/2020 13:50

The lovely Mr Dowser is even more of an odd bod than I am.
He’s a three meals a day type of person come rain hail or shine.
He’s currently chomping away like a little hamster on a big bowl of salad..with his chopsticks.

Don’t ask. I gave up years ago and when he shuffles off this mortal coil and I’m on the lookout for the third Mr Dowser, I’ll have to have a clear out of the huge collection of drinking bottles, special cups, drinking glasses , special wine cups...that by then I’ll be buried under.

"can you imagine their reaction if they were first on scene where someone needed CPR? No I think I'll just leave them die 'cos you know 'new normal'"

Don't get me started on that one. I have an anecdote that I daren't say on here, but that very attitude around CPR in the street does exist.

I also have anecdotes about people helping, so there are still kind people about.

Talking of which, Waterstones have signs up saying if you have a hearing impairment & need to speak to the staff please let the staff know so they can remove their masks to help. The man who served me said it was company policy.

Small acts of sensibleness

That reminds me of the early dark days of lockdown some poor girl had put a post on the local facefuck page. She was in lockdown and wfh on her own and had spoken to a couple whilst walking her dog. She said she hadn't caught their names but if they were reading thank you for the chat as she hadn't spoke to anyone for days and hoped to see them again down the field. My god she got jumped on - you should be social distancing, you aren't allowed to arrange to meet up with people etc etc. I posted at the time we were being asked to social distance not become social pariahs. Luckily there were a few of us backing her up. Poor wench had only had a chat with someone.

My dad and kids have just been turfed out of a cafe (outdoor seating!) when they were asked if they’d been to Aberdeen... 🙄😲

Yes I think that's better because antisocial distancing could be heard as anti - social distancing which isn't what I meant. I am very much in favour of keeping 'physical distancing' with strangers - and even some friends. The other alternative could be asocial distancing.

Pathetic, so many people haven't a clue.

DH is sick of my mooching about looking miserable and bored and has just announced he will take tomorrow off work and has booked us lunch in our favourite tapas restaurant! My mood has lifted more than I can explain. Just like that. Smile

And DS has agreed to drive, so I can have a jug of sangria.

DominaShantotto · 06/08/2020 15:00

I'm just overjoyed - I've actually managed to learn all my phonetics symbols. I have seriously only been slogging away at this since before Christmas - it's one thing me being dyslexic has really fucked with the reversed and upside down ones I've found it incredibly hard.

The rest of my exam stuff I'm still bloody screwed on but small steps...

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 06/08/2020 15:13

They said they had been to Aberdeen. To have lunch with relatives in their house - and walk on the beach. 😔

countrygirl99 · 06/08/2020 15:30

@Dowser Finland. Which is mostly lake and forest.

dingit · 06/08/2020 15:38

@dingit thank you / DD was intending to book France 🙁

Hi everyone. Long time lurker since the first thread. My god thank you for keeping me sane.

I live overseas so we get no support or government funding. It's dire here. Husband didn't work for 5 months. I've been unemployed since May. I feel like the only sane person in a sea of dementors.

Please tell me this will get better. I'm starting to lose hope.

Well done you. Have a bit of faith in yourself you got this🌼

I have had a fabulously normal afternoon slaving away over pots and concrete slabs tidying up, repotting and sweeping up the damm mess with ds2. Neighbours working in thier gardens too. Think we deserve a treat.😄 Have dug out a big pot 'saucer' and filled it with water for the frogs😉 will need yo check skip rules as have 4 bags of crap to get rid of. Havent even done out the front or stupid waste of space at back door that has everyones crap and leaves blown into it.
Now I need more plants to fill.ip.tje pots 🤔🤔
