Pic below!

Was so looking forward to sorting out my usually very light blonde hair out yesterday and asked the hairdresser not to go too dark as I have blonde eyebrows and I'm used to being light

They said they'd break it up with brown highlights and bring out the blonde get rid of the copper

They did full head of highlights and in the salon were saying how amazing it is and everything. Out in the light of day and at work and everyone is commenting how it's grey?!! They've put in really really dark strands and now it has the colour of a 70 yr old lady's natural hair which at 27 is not a look I'm going for.

What should I do

Do you think it looks grey or is it not to bad? The ends are especially grey looking and I've had 3 people say it's grey

I think it looks lovely from those pictures - obviously without seeing your face you can't tell how well it suits your colouring but it doesn't look grey at all. It's just a cool ashy blonde.

OdeToDiazepam · 30/07/2020 12:41

You think that's ash and not more of a grey tone? Confused

It’s lovely. Not grey at all.

cosmo30 · 30/07/2020 12:42

It's ash blonde and looks gorgeous!
I much prefer ash to bright blonde, it's because you're not used to it so it's abit of a shock!

homemadecommunistrussia · 30/07/2020 12:42

This is the danger with fashion for very ashy blonde. I am sure there are shampoos you can get to warm it up a bit.
Saying that it looks ok.in that pic.

OdeToDiazepam · 30/07/2020 12:42

Oh ok thank you do you think it will lighten at all? Maybe I can embrace the change for the next 6 weeks then ask to be lighter next time

I like it a lot. Sounds like the people you work with are being spiteful and trying to slap you down.

CremeEggThief · 30/07/2020 12:42

Em, it looks absolutely fine to me.Confused

TinkersTailor · 30/07/2020 12:43

It looks like it's been toned to beautiful ash blonde to me. Much more preferable than the coppery, orange blonde that you'd likely get without a toner.

Toners are semi (or even demi) permanent so it's likely that the 'grey' hue will settle down within a few washes.

I think it looks lovely though.

OdeToDiazepam · 30/07/2020 12:43

In any kind of dim light it looks very very grey

OP posts:
DeadButDelicious · 30/07/2020 12:43

I think it's a lovely colour, obviously without seeing your face it's hard to say if it 'suits' you or not but judging from the skin tone of your arm it looks like it should.

OdeToDiazepam · 30/07/2020 12:44

Oh ok thank you everyone I'm feeling self conscious today but the hairdresser was so lovely I don't want to be a pain either so I'll maybe brave it out and see how it goes

OP posts:
cosmo30 · 30/07/2020 12:44

As a pp has said it will tone down after a few washes but honestly it's really nice

OdeToDiazepam · 30/07/2020 12:44

The next appt I have half head or t zone highlights will they be able to do it a little lighter that time do you think

OP posts:
DeltaFlyer · 30/07/2020 12:45

As pp have said it does look nice. Though I understand it can be upsetting when it's not what you are used to.
Can you call the salon back and explain that in the natural light it looks grey and you want it correcting? I'm not sure if you would have to pay for that though but im sure someone else will know.

OdeToDiazepam · 30/07/2020 12:46

When I asked my DP if he liked my hair he joked that I looked like an esteemed old person and I guess that gave my confidence a bit of a blow Sadbut I'll trust you lovely lot thank you

I think it looks lovely!

I haven’t been blonde for a few years but when I was sometimes the hairdressers would overtone it if that makes sense and right after I had it done it could look a bit more ashy in places but it would settle down after a few washes

I don’t think yours looks grey though Smile

Mammaaof · 30/07/2020 12:50

@OdeToDiazepam ash blonde does have a grey undertone but I ask for my hair more grey and then I make it even more grey myself at home with osmo purple shampoo and I'm 25 so not trying to blend any natural Grey's! X

Joans3rddaughter · 30/07/2020 12:50

Yes. I agree with you OP. I think its grey. I also think it looks "khaki"at the ends but it could be the camera and a trick of the light. My hairdresser once described my hair as looking Khaki ( she was being kind and meant green).
Go back to the salon if you are not happy. I once did this because the brown shade used was way too dark and made me look severely anaemic. The hairdresser will want to put it right for you.

Mammaaof · 30/07/2020 12:52

Honestly you don't want that harsh blonde or orange blonde! If the hairdresser done gave me your colour id be giving her a massive tip not complainingGrin

cushioncovers · 30/07/2020 12:52

I think it looks lovely

vodkaredbullgirl · 30/07/2020 12:53

£98 Shock looks lovely to me. Here's me dying my hair to get rid of the grey lol
