Pic below!

Was so looking forward to sorting out my usually very light blonde hair out yesterday and asked the hairdresser not to go too dark as I have blonde eyebrows and I'm used to being light

They said they'd break it up with brown highlights and bring out the blonde get rid of the copper

They did full head of highlights and in the salon were saying how amazing it is and everything. Out in the light of day and at work and everyone is commenting how it's grey?!! They've put in really really dark strands and now it has the colour of a 70 yr old lady's natural hair which at 27 is not a look I'm going for.

What should I do

I think it looks lovely Smile

Beautiful3 · 30/07/2020 15:32

No it's not grey. It's an ash blonde. It's very nice and natural.

twig1234 · 30/07/2020 15:37

I think it looks great. I'd love that colour

I do think it looks grey OP. Can you tell the hairdresser that you’re not happy and ask her to sort it out?

ifoundafoxcaughtbydogs · 30/07/2020 16:01

That's the colour I ask for every time and never get! I might even save that picture for next time I go.

Absolutely lovely colour.

ifoundafoxcaughtbydogs · 30/07/2020 16:05

Also if you have a toner on it it will likely wash blonder.

Hubstar · 30/07/2020 16:06

Ash blonde is grey. They probably toned it with a violet colour too. So it will go blonder the more time goes on. Though it won’t lighten at all I doubt

It’s incredibly light. I’m wondering what colour you think it should be? Any lighter than that would be almost a white blonde to me. A grey.

What colour did you want?

Is this your usually hairdresser?

Fatherbrownsbicycle · 30/07/2020 16:09

It’s nice and I’m not seeing grey at all.

MadameButterface · 30/07/2020 16:16

It’s a beautiful cool blonde, it will fade warmer with time. At you next appointment tell them you’d prefer a warmer brighter blonde. Take pictures in with you. Most people’s complaints about blonde hair are that it’s too warm and they want it cooler! But it will go warmer as the toner fades. The ends have absorbed it slightly more than the rest of your hair as that is the part that is most porous; the good news is that colour fades faster the more porous hair is, so in a wash or two you will not see the difference you’re seeing now.

ALLIS0N · 30/07/2020 16:16

It’s lovely . And it will get warmer over time as the toner will wash out and the low lights will get warmer.

Catapultme · 30/07/2020 16:25

It's grey. The trendy grey colour which seems very popular, but definitely grey

Caramelblonde · 30/07/2020 18:21

I had mine highlighted before the salons all shut.It was not my colour at all,and I wasn't happy. My usual is creamy blonde and a caramel. She did it a dark ashy blonde and it hardly lifted in over 3 months till I could go again. It is the fashion now,as I had to really persuade her to get it back to normal. Some people think it's a yellow blonde but I prefer it.I would go back and have it maybe toned again.Your roots won't show as much though!

Almostfifty · 30/07/2020 18:30

When you go back tell her you want it warmer, rather than ash blonde. She's taken all the red coppery tint out, but you obviously liked that more.

I think it's lovely btw.

HeyBlaby · 30/07/2020 18:35

This is the exact colour I am asking for tomorrow! (And had pre lockdown and self bleaching my hair)

Dowser · 30/07/2020 19:21

I like it

OdeToDiazepam · 30/07/2020 19:52

Well I've spent the day with it and come to like it however divisive it seems to be Grin thank you for all your kind comments

I just saw the picture without reading what you’d put - my first thought was what a fabulous colour - I would never associate it with grey. It looks stunning.

Frownette · 30/07/2020 20:07

It's a lovely colour

ichifanny · 30/07/2020 21:02

The toner will wash out in a few washes mine always does I get my hairdresser to make it extra ashy so it lasts longer

Mumtumwobble · 30/07/2020 21:03

It’s just the toner and will wash out to look less ashy.

TinkersTailor · 30/07/2020 22:23

@ichifanny I do the same.

After a massive fail which left my hair an awful coppery, blorange mess I take no chances now. Would rather overtoned grey/ashy hair any day!

OP, can I ask what you asked for to get this result? I've spent the best part of £500 on my hair aiming for this result and I'm still not completely there!

Foxes157 · 30/07/2020 22:33

It's very similar to my hair was last week, looked a bit grey but ironically in the places I've no greys.

However the toner has changed and it's no longer as grey.

Estrellente · 30/07/2020 22:44

In two weeks it’ll look yellower.
I think it’s lovely :)

applePearbanana · 30/07/2020 22:47

I think it looks Really nice not brassy or unnatural

Molly333 · 30/07/2020 22:54

As a hairdresser I can understand what yr saying as sometimes brown with blonde does give off that hue. I would pop back to the hairdresser and ask for a toner
