£98 hair disaster help!!

Pic below!

Was so looking forward to sorting out my usually very light blonde hair out yesterday and asked the hairdresser not to go too dark as I have blonde eyebrows and I'm used to being light

They said they'd break it up with brown highlights and bring out the blonde get rid of the copper

They did full head of highlights and in the salon were saying how amazing it is and everything. Out in the light of day and at work and everyone is commenting how it's grey?!! They've put in really really dark strands and now it has the colour of a 70 yr old lady's natural hair which at 27 is not a look I'm going for.

What should I do

£98 hair disaster help!!

Yeah it's a lot! It was that much because it was full head of highlights plus cut and blow dry and style

You have lovely thick hair. I am ageing, and of course my hair is thinning. No genuine old lady has hair like yours! Lots of gorgeous young women have actually been asking for grey, and more still avoiding the “brassier” blondes, so that may have influenced an “on trend” hairdressers view of colours. I hope you learn to love this colour - or ask for it to be changed.

It looks really nice.

I pay almost £300 to get my hair that shade of ash blonde - I think it’s lovely

The bleach will come through as the toner wears off and it’ll become more yellow if that’s what you want.

ItWasNotOK · 30/07/2020 12:59

It's gorgeous, I'd love to find a hairdresser round here that could do ash blonde as nicely as that

MorrisZapp · 30/07/2020 13:02

I've screenshotted to take to my hairdresser! That's the exact colour I want!

VanillaSpiceCandle · 30/07/2020 13:03

That’s a lovely ash blonde. Maybe it’s less warm than you usually have. Did they use a toner? If so, that’ll wash out and it could be back to your usual colour soon.

Avenueofcherryblossom · 30/07/2020 13:07

I think the colour is nice, looks very light to me. Also I would say that it looks really expensive, so for me I think you’ve got good value!

IncrediblySadToo · 30/07/2020 13:07

I think it looks lovely in the first photo, but too 'ash' in the others.

My advice would be to go back & tell them it's too 'ash' for you, but have been told the 'ash' will wash out a bit and see what they say. Ask them to make notes for next time you get it done.

It does (maybe) explain why a lot of young girls have (seemingly) dyed their hair grey!

You can be a light/pretty
blonde without being yellow/copper etc it's not one or the other as people seem to be implying

whistler2020 · 30/07/2020 13:07

If they have used a toner then they tend to be either Demi/semi permanent so will fade with each time of washing. The other option would to go back and have a warmer toner put over, but over the top of the ash it may turn out an usual colour. I would personally just keep washing it to fade the toner out

GaraMedouar · 30/07/2020 13:07

Looks very ash-blonde , and yes slightly grey leaning, but looks lovely, grey is all the rage now , you are 27 so will have a young face. Normally hair turns more yellowish so I imagine in a couple of weeks it will warm up slightly . It’s probably just a change for you - but if you add more gold it’ll probably end up too yellow. Leave it a couple of weeks . You have lovely hair.

jassa090 · 30/07/2020 13:09

Looks good op

YouokHun · 30/07/2020 13:09

I think it looks lovely. I guess ash blonde has a lot more blue tones in it so it’s easy for it to look towards the grey in some lights. To my mind that is preferably to brassy. It’s a long way from a “hair disaster” though OP - I’ve seen far far worse (Friends and on MN), and from very expensive salons cost hundreds!

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 30/07/2020 13:09

I think it’s a beautiful colour. It’s also very on trend if you care about that shizzle.

I’d love to go that colour-but nope-I have coppery blonde highlights because I have chestnut coloured natural hair (with its own grey highlights Hmm)

orangenasturtium · 30/07/2020 13:11

It does look a bit grey rather than ash blonde. More of a trendy silver hint than actually "going grey". It still looks lovely. If you don't like it though and it's not what you asked for, that's what matters.

SacreBleeurgh · 30/07/2020 13:11

I’d kill for my blonde to come out that colour! I ALWAYS end up warmer than I’d like. Definitely not grey, and £98 pretty good value these days if that’s including cut too.

Longwhiskers14 · 30/07/2020 13:20

Sorry to be a dissenting voice but in the second two pictures you've posted the colour does look more grey than ash blonde to me. Presumably because they've added brown highlights to the mix.

sashh · 30/07/2020 13:30

I think you need to go back to the hairdresser and at least discuss ti with them.

I actually like grey hair on young women, and I love the ones that have a pink or blue shade too.

Littlemeadow123 · 30/07/2020 13:30

It looks lovely too me. Ash blonde - not grey. But if you want to brighten it up, purple shampoo is supposed to be quite good. Loreal does one, and other brands are starting to do them too.

OdeToDiazepam · 30/07/2020 13:32

Easier to see the strands in this pic

OdeToDiazepam · 30/07/2020 13:33

I'm feeling more positive about it now it knocked me a bit having that as my first reaction but I think I may come to like it as a temporary change

It's lovelyEnvy

DoIneed1 · 30/07/2020 13:34

I think that it looks lovely!

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 30/07/2020 13:35

It’s lovely. Very on trend.

Boomclaps · 30/07/2020 13:37

It’s perfect! It’ll warm up in 2/3 washes as well x
