Pic below!

Was so looking forward to sorting out my usually very light blonde hair out yesterday and asked the hairdresser not to go too dark as I have blonde eyebrows and I'm used to being light

They said they'd break it up with brown highlights and bring out the blonde get rid of the copper

They did full head of highlights and in the salon were saying how amazing it is and everything. Out in the light of day and at work and everyone is commenting how it's grey?!! They've put in really really dark strands and now it has the colour of a 70 yr old lady's natural hair which at 27 is not a look I'm going for.

What should I do

I think they've done a nice job. You look lovely.

Regularsizedrudy · 30/07/2020 13:49

I think it looks really nice. It is very ash blonde but not grey. You can buy a tinted conditioner that will warm it up a bit if it bothers you.

cosmo30 · 30/07/2020 13:54

Not being funny but what exactly do men know about women's hair anyways! I wouldn't listen Grin

I think it looks lovely , but I will qualify that by saying I’m a natural ash blonde who having never had any dye/ highlights on my head is now mid 50s and starting to get grey in with it . I get lots of compliment about my hair colour as people think I’ve paid for it as the grey bits and the ash blonde bits mingle so well .

EarringsandLipstick · 30/07/2020 13:59

I think I'm in the minority but I do think it looks grey, especially towards the ends...

Longwhiskers14 · 30/07/2020 13:59

@OdeToDiazepam

Easier to see the strands in this pic
I take back my earlier comment, it looks absolutely fine and blonde in this pic!
justanotherneighinparadise · 30/07/2020 14:02

Gorgeous!

CuriousaboutSamphire · 30/07/2020 14:04

none wants gingery blonde x Thanks for that! I'll add it to all the other 'ginger' comments!

OP, it does look less white blinde, if that is what you are worried abot. But it is a lovely looking colour. Maybe talk to them and give it til Monday to think about it!

StatementKnickers · 30/07/2020 14:07

Looks grey to me, sorry!

user1494055864 · 30/07/2020 14:15

Its a lovely colour, I think being colour blind is a lot more common than people think.
I think people genuinely can see grey when they look at it, but I see Ash blonde.
Me and DP see colours differently, which I discovered when we were discussing our bathroom tiles. Also my dd thought my top was grey, but when I told her it was actually green, she could then see it was green. Confused

Othering · 30/07/2020 14:17

@OdeToDiazepam

Yeah it's a lot! It was that much because it was full head of highlights plus cut and blow dry and style
That is a bargain actually for all that! It looks fantastic. It's such a hard cour to achieve and people pay 5 times that at fancy hairdressers to get that gorgeous ashy tone.
diddl · 30/07/2020 14:20

Amazing how we all see things differently-looks grey to me also, although that's to be expected if ash blond was what was gone for isn't it?

If you're young & with blond eyebrows it's unlikely to look as if you're naturally grey though, just got a trendy dye job.

I'm currently going that colour for free!

Estellelauder · 30/07/2020 14:22

Hi OP

I think it’s towards a steely colour and I wouldn’t be keen on it for my own hair but know lots of people like the grey tones and do like it. I take it you wanted a vanilla or creamy blonde and this is too ashy for you?

If you aren’t happy, go back, it’s a 10 minute toner job for them to correct Flowers

Chewbecca · 30/07/2020 14:24

It’s the fashionable shade right now!

inclover · 30/07/2020 14:24

It's beautiful and an elegant ash blonde, so chic!

MsEllany · 30/07/2020 14:28

I think it’s a very cool toned ash blond but I can see why you would have got that - the only word you’ve used to describe both what you had and what you wanted was ‘light’. You’ve also said you’ll ask to ‘go lighter’ which would make your hair white!

I would go back and say you need a toner as well. If you want it a bit warmer and a few people have commented I would say that what they’re seeing is the true colour rather than us on our phones and computers.

CoveredInBeeeees · 30/07/2020 14:31

If I had that skin tone, I’d give my right arm for that colour job. It looks great (and I’m much closer to your age than grey, if that helps).

Shadowboy · 30/07/2020 14:32

I really like it.its quite a sophisticated colour.

Livpool · 30/07/2020 14:37

Ash blonde - not remotely grey.

Better than horrible brassy blonde

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 30/07/2020 14:38

Have to say the people paying £300...where are you based because that sounds astronomical to me. I had full set of foil highlights plus an all over base colour, toner, cut and style and it was £78!

ScottishStottie · 30/07/2020 14:39

I think it looks lovely, but having recently posted here about a hair disaster, i feel i need to share the advice that i had...

If its not what you asked for or wanted, then let them know. Would you spend that much money on something else you aren't 100% happy with or do you feel you have to be polite as its your hair?

I went back and got mine sorted and am so much happier with it, even though people said the initial colour was nice, it wasnt what i wanted so i wasnt happy.

Did you show thw hairdresser a pic or anything to demonstrate the colour? Im thinking maybe that if you just said you wanted it ' light' then theyve just misunderstood what you wanted, and thought ashy means lighter?

Emmmie · 30/07/2020 14:42

I think it is very beautiful. To me, it looks platinum maybe? It does have greyish tones, but in a beautiful way!

Hiddennameforever · 30/07/2020 15:09

It does have a grey tone, mainly on ends.
I am not keen on that colour myself, I’m always having full have highlights and I always say no ash blonde please as I think it does look grey.
I prefer beige blonde with some caramel.

stripes416 · 30/07/2020 15:10

It's lovely! Really nice colour

Othering · 30/07/2020 15:21

Cheshire but go to any city centre salon or name or smart salon in a smart village and £300 is easy achieved.
