I love when my hoover crackles, because I know that means it’s picking up all the dirt!

OP posts:
Wingingitsince2018 · 29/07/2020 17:18

I love the sound of heavy snowfall!

Wingingitsince2018 · 29/07/2020 17:19

Also the little squeaks DS used to make when he was a newborn (once I had frantically googled and realised it wasn't something to panic about!)

Zaphodsotherhead · 29/07/2020 17:26

Standing in a wood in winter in a high wind and listening to the rooks arguing overhead. Actually I love the sound of rooks at any time - the general gossipy cawing when they are flying home to their nests at this time of year is good too.

@RedLimoncello

Yy KingOfDogShite!** From the Meaning of Liff

"Hambledon (n.): The sound of a single-engined aircraft flying by, heard whilst lying in a summer field in England, which somehow concentrates the silence and sense of space and timelessness and leaves one with a profound feeling of something or other".

Love that ❤️

I love the sound of someone writing with a pen and the gentle tapping noises of the pen in a hard surface. Only realised a couple of years ago that this was called ASMR. I'd never heard of it before.

RachelLyg · 29/07/2020 19:01

Mostly water related. Rain when I’m under cover - either inside so I can hear it on the window, or from underneath a canopy.

Waves crashing on the beach. Waterfalls.

Although I’m with the poster above who said ear plugs - there is definitely something about the sound of silence too!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 29/07/2020 19:02

rain
running water
blackbirds in the morning
wood pigeons when it is hot and silent around midday

ItWorriesMeThisKindofThing · 29/07/2020 19:04

Footsteps on gravel. I actually craved hearing that sound when I was pregnant.

ItWorriesMeThisKindofThing · 29/07/2020 19:05

I would love to experience complete silence but lifelong tinnitus has denied me that joy

MadamShazam · 29/07/2020 19:05

Logs crackling on our stove, the sea, Lapwings, my cats purring, my DD laughing, and silence punctuated by the sounds of nature like birdsong and the breeze in the trees.

MuseumOfYou · 29/07/2020 19:09

5am birdsong, the mill stream running over the old waterwheel outside our bedroom window. Rumbling thunder.

Spidey66 · 29/07/2020 19:11

Babies laughing (even though I’ve never had any.) It’s so contagious.

Sherloidbaisherloid · 29/07/2020 19:12

Birds chirping early in the morning, rain on the window especially on a cosy evening at home, the sound of the sea/water lapping the shore, thunder, airplanes. Oh and I love the clicking noise the car handbrake makes when you pull it up

DrWAnker · 29/07/2020 19:13

Water running. Rivers, waves at the beach especially.
Crunchy leaves or snow underfoot.
Cars or motorbikes at the race track.
Crackly fire.
Wind in grass when it's really quiet, that swishy sound.
The kettle popping when it's boiled.

GoshHashana · 29/07/2020 19:15

The happy little mew my cat does when he sees that I've woken up in the morning.

RustyLeesBogBrush · 29/07/2020 19:15

My dog dreaming

My kids belly laughing

Thunder and rain battering on the windows

KingFredsTache · 29/07/2020 19:17

OMG how weird! I was thinking this exact thought the other day whilst hoovering, and thought maybe I should start a thread on satisfying noises, then when I saw this thread I came on to say my hoover crackling, and saw the OP!

It definitely is a good sound Smile

RightOnTheEdge · 29/07/2020 19:23

The hoover noise is a good one!

I love the sound of my cat purring,
thunder rumbling and rain and wind battering the windows while I'm snuggled up in bed.

Zisforstripyoss · 29/07/2020 19:27

The tumble drier.

wanderings · 29/07/2020 19:30

My DH wrapping presents for me. I love the sound of this so much, that he indulges me by doing it in front of me. I have to pay the small price of being blindfolded, but it's worth it for the sound. Smile

Nefelibata86 · 29/07/2020 19:55

Lots already mentioned but the sound of cheers from neighbours and the street ie when a goal is scored for england or the national team. That feeling of shared experience and conviviality

TSSDNCOP · 29/07/2020 20:01

Cat purring

I DO NOT like NDN's water feature that sounds like a chap with a prostate issue Angry

PreviouslyZeus · 29/07/2020 20:03

The laughing my baby does in his sleep. I'd love to know what he is dreaming which he finds funny.

meow1989 · 29/07/2020 20:09

I like the sound of a tin lid going onto a glass jar, does that make sense?

TerrifiedandWorried · 29/07/2020 20:51

Yes it makes perfect sense. Reminds me of marmalade making time with my parents.
