Might need an X ray on the tooth. I had a sneaky one in front teeth which hid and nearly needed a root canal...it had similar pain. Hope you get it sorted Country girl Flowers tooth pain is horrible.

On the bikes, there is another similar mad scheme about motorised scooters as well on main roads, sounds pretty dangerous considering the wild traffic atm..

what mad scheme will they think up next? Is it all a distraction technique perhaps. There is a green home improvements scheme too which perhaps will save us all Hmm

Shodan · 28/07/2020 09:26

Bleary check in (yawn) Up too late having a jolly little worry about mum, what's going to be happening next etc. Such fun Angry

You've gotta love our esteemed PM. WAR ON OBESITY but EVERYONE GO OUT AND EAT CHEAPLY AT RESTAURANTS.

If I weren't so tired I'd guffaw, as it is I can manage a wry smile.

NannyPhlegm · 28/07/2020 09:26

@ISaySteadyOn

I need a push from you all to woman up. The zoo is open but for us to get there, it requires me to take 2 forms of public transport or 1 and walk. I have my sunflower lanyard because of my heart and all the DC are under 11. I am still very anxious about people being nasty to me because of my lack of mask and I am also worried about people being nasty to the DC.

Tbh, if I weren't worried about loos, we might walk the whole way to the zoo but then they are timed slots so public transport is necessary.

Encouragement and advice gratefully and graciously welcome.

I think you'll be ok. Very few judgy people are actually up for direct confrontation. And what are the chances that they'll be on the exact same bus as you. It always helps me to imagine a confrontation and rehearse a calm response in front of the mirror. The worst bit is always being caught out off guard, and the accompanying feeling of not knowing what to do. Rehearsing a response....even if it is just holding up the exemption card on the lanyard up to your face and then ignoring the other person....gives you the assurance that you're in control
Dowser · 28/07/2020 09:26

@ISaySteadyOn
My prescription sunglasses were the best thing ever.
I try to keep them to really bright days as apparently your eyes need to take in sunlight for the brain to know how Much melanin to make to protect your skin
So my dd says
I’ve been taking melatonin every night for about 15 years.

Orangeblossom78 · 28/07/2020 09:29

How do you find the melatonin Dowser, it helps I guess? Have you ever tried St John's wort?

BogRollBOGOF · 28/07/2020 09:32

FB algorithms are definitely in a dementory mood and REALLY does not like DS's style of entertaining himself! That's a quiet 24 hours for me around there anyway Sad

Dowser · 28/07/2020 09:33

@nannyphlegm
Agree
I’ve been in three shops so far. Only one was I asked if I’d like a mask and I just breezily replied, no thanks, I’m fine.
All was good
If another customer ( masked) asks me why I’m not wearing one, depending on the mood of the day, my response will be
Are you my doctor?
I have breathing difficulties
or piss off
Cos I’m sick of it all now and the cabinet pissing off has really put me in a mood.

Managed to miss a whole thread! Just decided to admit I have no control beyond my own actions & ignore the cretins. I can only assume their lives are so unpleasant that this feels like fun!

We’re doing a valiant job for Rishi - dh is at Legoland with the kids today, I’ve booked five restaurants!, dd1 is keeping the local hairdressers/piercers/tattooists in business. Did the pre-uni Ikea shop yesterday ... we had to queue for 15 minutes to get in - I have a no queue policy but gritted my teeth & put up with it. We’re redecorating the kitchen & I’ve spent a fortune on paint. Dh has decided the derelict tramp look needs to stop & has ordered some clothes (he will never shop irl) ... I think he’s a bit depressed, hopefully doing something other than work will help. He’s been stuck in home office 60+ hours a week since the end of Feb ... crap for me but for him too ... he’s pretty much the only person we know irl who has been working all the way through. Petrified about redundancies too.

incognitomum · 28/07/2020 09:38

dingit best of luck to ds.

ISaySteadyOn best of luck too. Am sure you'll be fine with your lanyard on.

Orangeblossom78 · 28/07/2020 09:38

DH is working a lot too manly at home TDD, hard isn't it.

MaudesMum · 28/07/2020 09:40

Seriously unimpressed by latest Government announcements, as they all seem very non-joined up, and not backed up by funding - so basically smoke & mirrors. Given GPs pointed out a few days ago that they were going to struggle to cope with the increase in flu jabs, what are the chances of them having the time to prescribe bikes (?) to people who are overweight? How are they even going to pick up on those of us who have gained weight, given most annual check-ups (for pre-existing conditions such as hypertension seem to have been cancelled and most initial appointments are done by phone? Have the Government even noticed that lots of leisure centres aren't re-opening because they can't afford to?? Not to mention the absence of sports/outdoor activities for children over the summer?

Another one with a DH working 60+ hours a week from home (while I attempt to keep a 6, 5 and 1 year old vaguely quiet). It’s shit.
incognitomum · 28/07/2020 09:41

Orangeblossom78 hope you're ok?

BogRollBOGOF · 28/07/2020 09:44

I know more people working through than not. DH's load has been lighter. He's connected indirectly with the food industry so his company is secure, although people have shuffled to balance the load between different departments. He's getting out of the house to do site visits now which is good for both of us Grin
A couple of good friends are backroom NHS, one's been extra busy with allthe adaptions going on. The other is fairly normal.

Dowser · 28/07/2020 09:44

@Orangeblossom78
I now have to get it off the internet
I have some melatonina from Tenerife
I’ve got over a years supply at the moment
Yes I use hypericum, valerian, gotu kola, passiflora, hops, 5htp all as back up
Bach remedies are good and my medical Dowser has me on Kali phos to keep my mood stable
You can buy that as it’s part of the schuessler tissue salt range
Low magnesium can also affect sleep

Jack temple, who treated Diana, fergie, Jerry Hall, Cherie booth and thousands of others swore by the tissue salts.
You can buy them singly or in various combinations for various ailments
They heLp the body to utilise the minerals properly

I used their combination for painful teeth, during the toothache crisis

I’ve inherited a lot of jack’s remedies, via a friend, from a friend, from another friend. Unfortunately he forgot to write the manual so I don’t know what most of them are for...yet
There’s a chap in Spain who is helping me with that
He took over the organisation when jack passed on.
If anyone wants to know more jacks books, the healer and medicine man are still available...thankfully

Sorry, I’m rambling again

Drivingdownthe101 · 28/07/2020 09:45

Yeah most people I know have worked throughout (mostly from home, some NHS etc). I only really know one person furloughed... one of my best friends who works in a restaurant. She starts back at work this evening.

ISaySteadyOn · 28/07/2020 09:48

@NannyPhlegm, thanks. I like the holding card up in front of my face idea. I might not manage zoo today but I shall try for this week. I loathe how anxious I feel about something that ought to be fun. Everywhere I should like to go is pre book even the library!Hmm so the normal spontaneity that my family requires is an impossibility. But you can return books without prebooking (Autocorrect changed that to preboozing Grin). Which means I get my bedside table back.

I am going to tackle things in baby steps because otherwise I am going to be teetering on the edge of agoraphobia and I would rather not fall down that edge.

Dowser · 28/07/2020 09:51

I feel for you all with kids stuck at home and precious little to do that doesn’t involve shedloads of money and with horrible restrictions added on for good measure

It is crap and the lack of control over our lives is even crappier

ISaySteadyOn · 28/07/2020 09:54

On another note, does anyone else have DCs who refuse the loo until they are absolutely bursting and can't understand other people needing it either?

A friend posted this on fb
It might help to clarify things if you want to wear a mask or not

I can’t believe I am having to say this and I know many of you are scared stiff of COVID-19 but please don’t let your fear turn you into a bully.

People have a right to use their own free will and choosing not to wear a mask but, simply give them extra space. You look after you and stop blaming everyone else.

Grimacing and being verbally abusive is not acceptable behaviour no matter how frightened and angry you are, especially when you know nothing about them.

There are numerous valid reasons for NOT wearing a mask and actually wearing a mask may make their existing conditions worse.
Please be thoughtful and kind.

Dowser · 28/07/2020 10:04

I have about 4 or 5 things on the list

Orangeblossom78 · 28/07/2020 10:05

Yes I'm Ok now thanks. I have a bit of PTSD type thing, from having several emergency surgeries in past years...so I find medical stuff like masks quite anxiety provoking and seems to set off panic in me, also anything like blood tests and cannulas...but now I have the milkman sorted I can avoid it mostly!

It's hard for those of us with MH issues, and just generally anxious...and stressed with children etc, exhausted..yes I find magnesium useful too (well take it anyway) also zinc meant to be good for immunity...

countrygirl99 · 28/07/2020 10:17

Orangeblossom had an x-ray yesterday and nothing showed up. I have decided to treat it as a dieting technique for a few days.
ISaySteadyOn my DS2 was the opposite, never let a loo opportunity pass him by. Was a right pain out, he wanted to go anytime he saw a loo sign.
Just had a teams call to notify us of potential redundancies. Luckily (for me, not colleagues) the grade above me. However I'm sure that at least 2 of the 5, possibly 3, of them will be elbowing each other out of the way to get the pay off as it would suit them very well.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 28/07/2020 10:29

I’d just like someone to fix my bike. I have a spendy sit-up-and-beg with a basket. But, because I’m so heavy I need better tyres... I can’t seem to find anyone to acquire and fit such things. Bikes will take almost any weight - standard tyres won’t.

There’s work there for some enterprising soul.

I also can’t fit it in the back of my car to drive around to a million bike shops.
