That's brilliant, needtoknow.
I always thought he was quite misogynistic.

If you can't name the painting, you're not a true fan.

Babooshka and her outing story have gone very quiet

TwigTheWonderKid · 06/08/2020 22:22

HOW were you so restrained?! I'm sure I would have just hurled myself at him. Clearly I would have been arrested and he'd probably have taken out a restraining order against me, but I'm sure it would have been worth it.

Fleamaker123 · 06/08/2020 22:22

Some great stories!
I'm intrigued SingingBabooshka, please tell us!

@ThatLibraryMiss

No, Victorious, you're overthinking it a bit.
Blame the red stuff
VictoriousSockPuppet · 06/08/2020 22:26

@Honeyroar

Planet Earth wasn’t 70s.

I met Paul Young once. His toddler wet his pants and he asked us to dry them (cos of course we have an onboard launderette). He did give us tickets for his concert at a club in Bermuda. We went partying with his band afterwards, who were much more fun! Paul was tall and charisma less like John Taylor!😃
Gonna miss all that stuff now!

Did you take any passengers who were not famous, honey????

Don't feel sad about what has gone. Look forward to an exciting new phase in your life. X x x

NeedToKnow101 · 06/08/2020 22:26

@VictoriousSockPuppet - I disagree. I was so overwhelmed by touching Bowie's overcoat that everything else was just a blur.

I can nearly remember the name of the exhibition though Grin

Honeyroar · 06/08/2020 22:27

Voices another sound
Can you hear me now
(80s)

Fleamaker123 · 06/08/2020 22:27

Honeyroar, I hope you write your memoirs one day! Fascinating!

VictoriousSockPuppet · 06/08/2020 22:28

THAT is planet earth, honey

Honeyroar · 06/08/2020 22:29

Yes!. 🌏

VictoriousSockPuppet · 06/08/2020 22:33

Seems apt for groupies....

It's basically glamorous world

VictoriousSockPuppet · 06/08/2020 22:33

Sorry. Don't know what I typed. I meant to write

It's a glamorous world

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 06/08/2020 22:37

Argh! @ThatLibraryMiss - just got your last one - it’s Bowie, The Man Who Sold the World.

CrepuscularCritter · 06/08/2020 22:37

On the subject of coats, I have an embarrassing story of fandom. DH was trying to take a pic of me with one of my music heroes (pretty obscure). While DH tried for the 26th time to commit the pic to my phone after intensive tuition from me and said hero, I realised that I had been stroking the guy's back (under a rather disappointingly normal coat) for about 10 minutes. Went to crawl under a rock immediately. Blush And I absolutely would have snuck a touch of Bowie's coat too.

I’m in Love with A German Film Star by the Passions.
Honeyroar · 06/08/2020 22:38

No I’m not looking back too much, but it was a pretty unique job and I’ve done it so long.

One last story, as I said I had Will I Am on a flight and he was pretty hard work. About six months later we were told he was going to be onboard and had been downgraded from first to business. Turns out he was in my section of the plane. Great! Another crew member had had him onboard before and he’d been difficult. I decided I was going to win him over. So I introduced myself and said I’d flown with him recently, did he remember a very distinctive thing that had happened on that flight.. He said he did and laughed. He was lovely and charming. I was just congratulating myself on winning him over with my sparkly personality when another crew member from economy came up and said that’s not Will I Am, that’s the drummer from Black Eyed Peas. So he’d humoured me and said he had remembered what had happened on the previous flight when he had no idea and clearly thought I was a nutter!

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 06/08/2020 22:39

@CrepuscularCritter - who, who? Whoever it is sounds very patient and helpful.

VictoriousSockPuppet · 06/08/2020 22:47

Brilliant, honey!
Did you exclusively fly of private jets, or were there proles as well?

Do you feel like sharing more stories?

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 06/08/2020 22:49

@Fleamaker123

I wish I could but honestly, if anyone I know in RL happened to read this thread they would instantly know it’s me. Anyway, I’ve built it up too much now, it would only disappoint.

I’ve met a fair few famous people through work as well @Honeyroar
and, like you, Ricky Gervais was one of my favourites. He arrived ridiculously early for a meeting because apparently he just can’t bear the thought he might keep people waiting.

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 06/08/2020 22:50

Yes, more stories @Honeyroar please!

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 06/08/2020 22:54

I can’t tell the Very-Very-Famous musician story but by way of compensation I can offer you this wee nugget:

Sean Hughes told me he was going to try to find his hotel room and asked if would like to find it with him...

NB: I declined.

Honeyroar · 06/08/2020 22:57

No they were all commercial flights but I used to mostly work in First or Business (hated economy- too many people!😃) and I liked doing the LAs in winter for some sun, so often hit the Award ceremony flights.

I’ll share more in the future. I’ve not got my redundancy pay yet!🤣

This is from a bloke that I flew with’s group. I can’t remember his name, he was the one nobody noticed in the group, but was a really clever, interesting man who probably was the glue that held the group together.

(80s. Probably one of my favourite songs from them)

I treasure the way we used to laugh and play
And look in each other’s eyes.

VictoriousSockPuppet · 06/08/2020 23:01

Depeche mode, honey?

VictoriousSockPuppet · 06/08/2020 23:03

So you can wipe off that grin, I know where you've been
It's all been a pack of lies

80s

TwigTheWonderKid · 06/08/2020 23:04

That's See You by Depeche Mode @Honeyroar.
