Critter it's 2 words and the second rhymes with clothes...

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 06/08/2020 21:52

Oh no, I’ve missed so much - lyrics and celeb chat. Agree @Honeyroar re Michael Hutchence. Gorgeous. Also used to fancy John Taylor. My boyfriend was mistaken for him more than once. On one occasion he had to barricade himself in a launderette to escape some very excited schoolgirls 😂.

I wish I could tell you my funny story about meeting a very, very famous musician but it would out me to virtually anyone who knows me...

I can’t seem to identify lyrics anymore 🙁.

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 06/08/2020 21:53

@VictoriousSockPuppet

Someone on thread no 1 had met green from scritti politti.
That would be me. But that’s not the famous musician I wish I could tell you about.

I've touched David Bowie (well, his coat, but he was wearing it at the time).

Honeyroar · 06/08/2020 21:57

My fave celeb was Martin Clunes, because I have horses and dogs, so ended up chatting to him and his wife about horses. Ricky Gervais was another fave, and Sean Bean. Funniest was Ronnie Woods, who had given up alcohol but has 12 double expressos on a flight to JFK. Very down to earth but hyper and couldn’t keep still (no wonder after all that coffee!). Weirdest was Will I Am. Orlando Bloom, gorgeous, called me darling all night then trotted off in the morning without a goodbye!

Grumpiest... well you can guess this one. She snapped her fingers at us and shouted (the plane was 3 hours late and apparently it was my fault). We got revenge by singing her own song very loudly in the galley...

Just who do you think you are?
Stop acting like some kind of star!

Hope you have a lot of nice things to wear
But then a lot of nice things turn bad out there

Somethin' in the wind has learned my name
And it's tellin' me that things are not the same

I searched for form and land
For years and years I roamed

All 70s, and there's a theme.

I know the first one but can't quite get it...
Honeyroar · 06/08/2020 22:00

Top one is Wild World not sure of the singer

xsquared · 06/08/2020 22:00

Wild world - Jimmy Cliff?

xsquared · 06/08/2020 22:00

Pipped again!

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 06/08/2020 22:01

Wild World was Cat Stevens originally but covered by Maxi Priest.

ThatLibraryMiss · 06/08/2020 22:02

@Honeyroar and @xsquared, right on the title but not the singer, unless there was a cover I don't know about.

ThatLibraryMiss · 06/08/2020 22:03

And @SingingBabooshkaBadly wins the point for the singer (and apparently there was indeed a cover I didn't know).

TwigTheWonderKid · 06/08/2020 22:04

Middle one is the Carpenters, Top of The World.

@NeedToKnow101, I am unspeakabaly jelaous. Under what circumstances did you touch his coat?!

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 06/08/2020 22:04

@NeedToKnow101

I've touched David Bowie (well, his coat, but he was wearing it at the time).
@NeedToKnow101 - I’m assuming this was a weird, furtive stealth touch rather than legitimately helping him on with his coat?
VictoriousSockPuppet · 06/08/2020 22:08

Arrgh! So much to say.

Honey, thanks for sharing the gossip. Heather small was vile???
Martin clones nodded approvingly at my dog in a melting, "oh! aren't you sweet!" kind of a way. My dog IS very sweet

Babooshka - I THOUGHT it was you but couldn't be sure.
Tell us the one you can't tell us. Go on! Go on! Go on!

I've touched paul young's knee.

Library, I know the second one

NeedToKnow101 · 06/08/2020 22:09

@TwigTheWonderKid and @SingingBabooshkaBadly - we were in the Hayward Gallery (at the same time, not together) and he (Bowie) was absorbed in a painting. So I walked past him and lightly touched his coat. I considered myself too cool to ask for an autograph so I had to make do with touching his fairly thick coat. (I don't think he even noticed but that's by the by).

VictoriousSockPuppet · 06/08/2020 22:09

Clunes. Fecking auto correct

VictoriousSockPuppet · 06/08/2020 22:11

Which painting, needtoknow?

ThatLibraryMiss · 06/08/2020 22:13

@TwigTheWonderKid, correct, and by now you should have identified the theme.

VictoriousSockPuppet · 06/08/2020 22:15

World, library.

Is the third one planet earth?

NeedToKnow101 · 06/08/2020 22:17

@VictoriousSockPuppet - can't remember the painting, too overwhelmed, it was a mixed exhibition in the late 80s.

I also pissed off Mark Lamar in the men's toilets in a pub in Islington, by pretending I thought he was Viv Reeves.

NeedToKnow101 · 06/08/2020 22:20

Runnin' pretty, New York City girl (twenty-five, thirty-five)
Hello, baby, New York City girl

70s .. I'm a bit lost pissed is there a theme?

ThatLibraryMiss · 06/08/2020 22:20

No, Victorious, you're overthinking it a bit.

Honeyroar · 06/08/2020 22:22

Planet Earth wasn’t 70s.

I met Paul Young once. His toddler wet his pants and he asked us to dry them (cos of course we have an onboard launderette). He did give us tickets for his concert at a club in Bermuda. We went partying with his band afterwards, who were much more fun! Paul was tall and charisma less like John Taylor!😃
Gonna miss all that stuff now!
