Staying near Eden project. Weather not forecast to be great. Not paying £29 for the Eden Project. And all national trust houses are closed.

No suggestions for wet weather, but Pinetum Gardens or Cornwall Football Golf!

gggrrrargh · 26/07/2020 08:59

Also not good for wet weather, but a treasure trail is good for wandering around an area www.treasuretrails.co.uk/trails-search/Cornwall,England

orangejuicer · 26/07/2020 09:02

Are the lost gardens of Heligan open? Not sure if they are NT though.

justdontatme · 26/07/2020 09:04

We go to Polruan, take the ferry to Fowey, do some crabbing, look around the church & eat a pasty when it’s raining. Only a good idea if you are near Fowey & don’t mind a bit of damp...

justdontatme · 26/07/2020 09:04

Heligan is open - it’s not NT.

Manolin · 26/07/2020 09:05

Kayaking? You are going to get wet anyway and might see a basking shark.

safetosay · 26/07/2020 09:07

We went to the eden project 10 years ago - I think it becomes much cheaper after 3pm, so we visited then and it was fab!

TimeWastingButFun · 26/07/2020 09:10

Do go to the Eden project, it's definitely worth the money!

hopeishere · 26/07/2020 09:14

Eden Project is ok but it was BUNGED when we went. Heligan is lovely. Wander round St Ives. Book a surf lesson.

BrandyandBabycham · 26/07/2020 09:16

We like going over to Newquay to have a trawl around the arcades & trashy shops, then have a long lunch at The Fort Inn. If you like museums there’s The Shipwreck Centre at Charlestown.
Most places have racks of leaflets to give you some ideas. I live in the area where you’re staying & the weather is pretty good at the moment. Have fun ☀️☀️☀️😎😎😎🍦🍦🍦

inappropriateraspberry · 26/07/2020 09:17

Have a wander around Charlestown. They filmed some of Poldark there. Usually a few interesting boats to see and some nice pubs for lunch. Wouldn't fill a whole day but good when the weather isn't brilliant.
Fowey and Mevagissey are also nice. Do you need to entertain young children or is it just adults/teenagers?

IndecentFeminist · 26/07/2020 09:18

What ages are you?

inappropriateraspberry · 26/07/2020 09:19

It's peeing down here and we're not that far away!
There is a trampoline park in Bodmin, not sure if it's open though!
Or the wonders of Trago Mills can kill a few hours on a wet afternoon 😆.

Ginfordinner · 26/07/2020 09:19

The best time to go to the Eden Project is on a sunny day when most people will be at the beach. The worst day to go is when it is wet because everyone else will be doing the same.

Cam2020 · 26/07/2020 09:21

Find some beautiful little coves. Doesn't need to be great weather to walk and explore (as long as you've got the right clothing for the weather).

inappropriateraspberry · 26/07/2020 09:21

Also bear in mind that a lot of attractions will require you to pre-book, often the day before.

inappropriateraspberry · 26/07/2020 09:22

If you do this, make sure you check the tide times!
Cam2020 · 26/07/2020 09:23

The Fort Inn.

Haven't been there in an age - now feeli g nostalgic! Lovely views over the harbour.

lookatmememe · 26/07/2020 09:24

Go here :

www.starglazers.co.uk/

Lovely people run this place and it's very laid back. Good for kids and grownups and the milkshakes are awesome!

ChelseaCat · 26/07/2020 09:28

Fowey is unpleasantly busy at the moment - I honestly wouldn’t bother coming here 😩

ChelseaCat · 26/07/2020 09:28

Another vote for lost gardens of heligan though - really lovely and worth the money

MrsKingfisher · 26/07/2020 09:34

Drive to Devon to the miniature pony Centre.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 26/07/2020 09:35

Heligan is lovely in the rain

You could go for a mooch around Fowey and eat at Sam's. Or go to Polkerris and eat at Sam's on the Beach.

Drive out to the north coast and watch the waves

Find somewhere to eat a cream tea

Wheal Martyn also good for a stomp about in the rain

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 26/07/2020 09:37

Oh bugger.

Fowey is my absolute favourite place on earth. At least if it is busy then hopefully traders will be beginning to recoup some of their losses. Can't imagine trying to socially distance down Fore Street though

ZiggeryZaggy · 26/07/2020 09:43

Camel Creek adventure park (depending on how old your children are)

Cardinham woods for a long lovely walk, and maybe lunch sitting outside the cafe.

Golitha Falls is beautiful.

All between 20/30 mins drive for where you are.
