Staying near Eden project. Weather not forecast to be great. Not paying £29 for the Eden Project. And all national trust houses are closed.

If you don't mind a drive (about an hour) how about Trebah Gardens?

www.trebahgarden.co.uk/visit-trebah

You have to pre-book but there's places available from 12.30 onwards, and if is pees down you can hide in the Gunnera Passage!

The Roseland peninsula (St Just, St Mawes etc) which is in between there and where you're staying is also really pretty if you wanted to break the journey one way or another.

parrotonmyshoulder · 26/07/2020 09:47

Put your waterproofs in the car and drive somewhere. The weather is so changeable down here that you can easily get lovely sunny spells when ten miles away it rains all day.
But I’m annoyingly optimistic and head for the beach in damp weather in the hopes that nobody else will be there - I’m often right.

HasaDigaEebowai · 26/07/2020 09:49

We're just back from Fowey and I didn't think it was too bad in terms of business other than trying to find somewhere to eat/drink (which requires booking ahead by at least a few days).

Babamamananarama · 26/07/2020 09:57

Yep get your waterproofs and some dry clothes, flask of tea, head out to the beach. Cornwall is often 4 seasons in one day, you won't enjoy yourself if you sulk about waiting for it to be sunny.

Go and have a look round Mevagissey, eat fish n chips on the harbour.

Screech owl sanctuary is nice.

I would love to be in Cornwall right now, rain or no rain.

parrotonmyshoulder · 26/07/2020 10:10

We got up Friday morning and it was grey and drizzly. Had planned to meet a family at the beach an hour away (in Cornwall). Had a brilliant time and the photos look like it was sunny all day!

Toddlerteaplease · 26/07/2020 10:36

Thanks all, I decided on Mevagissy this morning and the seal sanctuary this afternoon. It's just me.( 38) and no kids to entertain. Some great ideas, thanks.

Went to Cornwall many many years ago .

I recall going too, and enjoying
Mousehole
Mevagissey
Lizard Point
Cape Cornwall (where we saw seals in the sea) (Dad refused to pay to see Lands End so a friendly person told us its just as nice to see Cape Cornwall)
Penzance and St Michael's Mount

We were staying at Godolphin Cross near Helston

Toddlerteaplease · 26/07/2020 10:37

It's surprisingly quiet here. Perched on the harbour wall with a very nice coffee.

Don't go to Eden on a rainy day. Its better when everyone else has gone to the beach.

megletthesecond · 26/07/2020 10:40

yy @MintyCedric Trebah is awesome for skimming stones too.

BillBaileysBum · 26/07/2020 10:40

It’s just you? I am green with envy.

Buy nice food and drinks. Stash them in a backpack with a blanket and book. Wander wherever the mood takes you

DullDullWeather · 26/07/2020 10:41

Oh and Charlestown which , at the time, had some replica of an olden days ship in its pretty harbour
It was really pretty there

puzzledpiece · 26/07/2020 10:44

Pay for the Eden project. It's worth it

IndecentFeminist · 26/07/2020 10:45

If you're going to do Eden at some point book in advance online, cheaper.

Cam2020 · 26/07/2020 10:49

Arh, sounds perfect, OP, I'm massively jealous! Have a lovely day!

justdontatme · 26/07/2020 11:15

Omg just you! Amazing.

We like woodland walks when it’s raining - Lerryn is lovey.

Toddlerteaplease · 26/07/2020 11:33

Really isn't amazing to be here on my own. I wish I had another person to share it with!

Found w Locke tea room In mevagissy. Got offered 3 types of Earl Grey and three types of fruit scone. Can't cope with so much choice!

inappropriateraspberry · 26/07/2020 11:54

Enjoy it! Mevagissey is one of our favourites. Wish I could go off on my own!

justdontatme · 26/07/2020 13:10

Sorry for my insensitive comment Toddlerteaplease, I think I assumed from your username that you were having a break from producing toddler teas etc, & projected my own desire to be on my own right now (PMT!) & of course I have no idea of how you feel about being on your own & shouldn’t have framed my response as I did.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 26/07/2020 14:53

What were the three types of fruit scone? I do love a scone!

MintyCedric · 26/07/2020 17:37

Glad you had a good time - the seal sanctuary is fun, if a bugger to find.

I'm v. envious of your solo holiday, I was meant to be in Yorkshire for a short break on my own this weekend but the event was cancelled due to Covid.

Toddlerteaplease · 26/07/2020 20:33

@justdontatme I didn't think you were insensitive at all. My username is based on how I drink my tea. Much to my colleagues disgust!

I live Glendurgan gardens with the maze and you end up down on the river. Years ago I used to take the kids to a mine when it was raining. I think it was the Poldark mine but I'm not sure it's open now.
