Songs that make you sob

Sorry, I know this topic has been done before but...
Recently watched The Falling, and Florence Pugh sings Voyage To The Moon- it's only a brief moment, but I had never heard the song before and I cannot stop thinking about it. I've listened to Donovan and the Mary Hopkin version and I'm sobbing! Absolutely bawling my eyes out! It is such a sad sweet melancholy song. It's making me think of the DCs as babies and how little DD (4) is growing so big now...

Are there any songs that have given you the same reaction? I can't stop listening and crying!

Disclaimer- this may be a result of lockdown hysteriaGrin

I think the thing that gets me most about Matt Monro's Precious Moments is that it reminds you to treasure the people and special moments in your life because time is so fleeting, the words are very poignant.

Do You Realize?? by The Flaming Lips.

tararabumdeay · 14/07/2020 16:49

'Teach Your Children Well' always gets me because of the fragile perfection of new life.

'Nimrod' - so young.

Isthisfinallyit · 14/07/2020 17:18

God only knows by the beach boys. Has me blubbering within seconds.

JellyNo15 · 14/07/2020 17:41

Already mentioned my top two;

Slipping through my fingers
Living years

also Seasons in the sun

MotherMorph · 14/07/2020 17:43

Just got caught out in the car by another one.
Someone you love by Lewis Capaldi. I used to hear it most days on the way to visit my dad in his dying days last summer, and it will always be connected to that for me.

Ellapaella · 14/07/2020 18:35

Fields of Gold - the Eva Cassidy version. Such a hauntingly beautiful voice
Women's work - Kate Bush

Ellapaella · 14/07/2020 18:37

Oh and 'These are the days' Van Morrison

SoupDragon · 14/07/2020 19:23

Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) by Green Day. I once made a montage of photos of the SmallDragons with this as the soundtrack and it never fails to make me teary now.

ItsSpittingEverybodyIn · 14/07/2020 19:31

Have not rtft sorry so probably been mentioned, but Iris by GooGooDolls and I have no idea why, although I have seen City of Angels!

ItsSpittingEverybodyIn · 14/07/2020 19:35

Oh and I think it's called Beneath you're beautiful, is it Labyrinth and Emilie Sande? When I was pregnant with my first it was often on the radio, then when I was actually in labour they put me some music on at the birth centre and that came on, so will always remind me of that moment, being so emotional, excited and knowing my life was going to change forever.

This was played at my DS leavers assembly when he left infant school.

@thesunwillout most people I speak to don't know That song! it's ❤️ ❤️❤️❤️

Lemonmaid · 14/07/2020 20:57

Not a song but the theme to Road To Perdition.

Also Chariots Of Fire - Vangelis and The Balcony Scene, Romeo and Juliet.

Lemonmaid · 14/07/2020 20:58

End Of The Innocence - Don Henley...very fitting at the moment.

ThisAintNoDisco · 14/07/2020 20:59

In Case You Don't Live Forever, by Ben Platt. I am struggling to face up to the loss of my mum 6 weeks ago, I'm mostly calm and serene and then this bastard song comes along and makes me howl.

All I need now is Luke Combs to show up and start with Even Though I'm Leaving just to finish me off.

ThisAintNoDisco · 14/07/2020 20:59

Oh and Billie Eilish can bugger off with I Love You as well.

dayswithaY · 14/07/2020 21:17

The Scientist by Coldplay, the words remind me of how I felt when I was separated from DH, so lost and confused and scared. We got back together but I still can't listen without crying.

I say a little prayer by Aretha Franklin. It's a love song but I always think about my children and how much I love them.

Grandma's Hands by Bill Withers. I'm a blubbering mess if I hear this as I just think about my lovely Grandma. Also, Sam by Olivia Newton John - it's so sad!

Crimblecrumblelover · 14/07/2020 21:43

Trouble - Coldplay

Beautiful - Christina Aguilera (I cant listen to it because it reminds me of a time when i was low).

Tears in heaven by Eric Clapton... written about his son who died when he was 4 Sad

mynameisigglepiggle · 14/07/2020 22:23

I'm not particularly religious but there are a few hymns that just get me. Usually with family connections.
And the carol "in the bleak midwinter" it was my aunties favourite and she died a few years ago. Every time I hear it it makes me cry.

turnthebiglightoff · 14/07/2020 22:33

@EdersonsSmileyTattoo I sing this to my 15 month old every night to get him to sleep. It's such a beautiful song :-)

KatherineJaneway · 14/07/2020 22:43

@PuppyMonkey

Josh Groban does an amazing version of Vincent.
