Hmmm is that eyebrow threading for men in a barbers going on in the background. Beard trimming for gentlemen fine, but chin waxing for ladies with PCOS not. And therapists doing eyebrows on ladies stand behind the customer, not in front. #ditchthedoublestandards

MIL just used to shave her old lady beard. If she was still around, we could have suggested she went to the barbers :o
PickAChew · 11/07/2020 17:27

@TheOrchidKiller

BarkandCheese The Safety Blow I like it. With the strapline, "Always blow responsibly."
And there we have our next thread title :o

@BarkandCheese the Safety Blow 😂😂

Allflightscancelled · 11/07/2020 17:46

Oh boy. I just peeked at a mask thread. I've never worn a mask so apparently I'm an idiot.

I'm comfortable with that.

TimeForLunch · 11/07/2020 17:47

Hello fellow ADs and thank you for helping me through the last few weeks. It is so good to know there are sane and reasonable people out there. I feel it is time to delurk.

DH and I did our bit for Rishni in the week and went out for dinner at a wonderful restaurant in central London. Apart from the staff wearing masks, everything was so lovely and normal. We even stopped off for a drink in a nearby pub on the way home. Travelled by tube so all in all we are probably going to be responsible for a second wave.

Even worse than that we have now flown on an actual aeroplane for a frivolous holiday. Unfortunately our destination did not make "the list" and so we will have to quarantine upon our return but it is absolutely worth it! The only downside is that it's mandatory to wear masks in shops and restaurants here (but not while seated at your table) although it sounds like that is something we are going to have to get used to.

@MaskIsNotAFuckingVerbEither just when I thought you couldn't make me laugh any more than you already do.

@TimeForLunch
By your description I'm guessing that you are in the same place as me.
I hate the mandatory use of masks, stops me spending money on anything other than food though. Husband will be pleased. It's horrible having to wear a mask in 37 degree heat, not nice at all.
@MaskIsNotAFuckingVerbEither, love, love your new name.

LittleSwede · 11/07/2020 18:12

Random 'Just had' there Confused Anyways, had a look at the active threads and it really is a crazy world out there. Mask my arse!

We had an almost normal day with McDonald's breakfast, a trip to visit DFIL, his DDog and we actually sat inside his house fir first time since February, DD then played in a playpark for a good while (no other children there, we had it to ourselves!) Now enjoying wine Wine

BogRollBOGOF · 11/07/2020 18:17

Well DS has always masked... that's when he's imitating neurotypical behaviours.
I'm not sure that's what the dementors mean though.
Fat chance of covering his face though.

ButterMeCrumpets · 11/07/2020 18:17

I don't understand the (England's) government's logic for making mask wearing mandatory to give people confidence to get out and shop.

Surely those that are terrified to go out won't simply do that just because mask wearing is mandatory as they want the virus to be gone or a vaccine.

Those that are happy to wear a mask are doing so now.

But there must be a significant portion like me who would stop going out where home delivery was an option if masks became mandatory thereby defeating the object.

Pleasedontdothat · 11/07/2020 18:23

I just yelled at someone to stop touching their mask as I whizzed past him on my bike 😳. Man in his 30s waiting to cross the road, constantly touching and fiddling with his mask - something inside me just snapped ... it won’t have done any good though - he’ll probably just think I’m a mask-purity dementor 🙄

TimeForLunch · 11/07/2020 18:26

@Paradiseinportugal I believe so, judging by your username!

The mask thing does feel pretty pointless at this stage. Numbers are so low that the likelihood of bumping into someone with the dreaded virus is slim. We've managed without them for this long with numbers continuing to decline in most areas of the UK.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 11/07/2020 18:27

Walked into the boys’ bedroom last night about 10 minutes after they’d gone upstairs. It REEKED of farts so bad it just about knocked me off my feet. Given they were wearing PJs and underneath duvets - I’m not convinced a shite fabric mask will protect us from highly aerosol killer virus 🦠.

I feel physically crud - don’t know whether it’s anxiety causing physical problems, peri-menopause or genuine ailments. But... on paper, could be killer virus. I’m being triaged by phone by the GP on Monday and I’d really like to see a real person.

justasking111 · 11/07/2020 18:27

Oh dear Wales might be open for business but not our toilets apparently. In conwy today people asking where are the loos, well sorry no loos open yet. Two people seen tinkling on the bushes in the car park. You would think after reading the media reports when england re-opened they would have got the loos organised, there are no pubs, restaurants, to go to for a whizz yet. Banging head here.

BogRollBOGOF · 11/07/2020 18:29

It would certainly put me off anything absolutely non-essential.

I suppose I could get my wedding veil out, that's nice and light...

SpnBaby1967 · 11/07/2020 18:36

We went to our Harvester for lunch. No masks, no weird toilet rules and the waiter was wonderful. The only difference was them putting the plates at the edge of the table for us to put in front of appropriate person, drinks put on a tray on the table as well. Then menus once used put on a tray and taken for a wipe down. Our favourite waitress was there and we had a blast, even though I'm dieting.

Then to our local pub, wonderful groups of kids all playing at the park. A few teenagers in the basketball court playing football and loads of folk outside having drinks. Plastic cups now which annoys my single use plastic frustrations, but bonus that when I didnt finish my drink before we went home I could take it with me.

Re masks, I will wear one if needs be. But if they become mandatory then we need a nationwide advert in teaching people how to wear them & how to remove them!

justasking111 · 11/07/2020 18:36

Yes that is a face covering when you think about it, as is a hijab, pair of stockings a la bank robber Grin

SpnBaby1967 · 11/07/2020 18:37

Oh and "The safety blow, always blow responsibly" HAS to be our new thread title.

justasking111 · 11/07/2020 18:38

When is a mask not a mask though, will it have to be an nhs approved one or will grannies scarf pulled up do?
