Bit of a random post..
I Just commented on another thread and was so pleased to see a few MN from this area! Im a bit surprised tbh, I'm not sure why haha.
I wonder how many on MN do live in Pembrokeshire?!

@Badassmama Yes, FB's do a good job.. I'll be watching our letting confirmations to see if a Badassmama and family book any time soon!

Loving the love of Pembrokeshire on this thread, especially from the gatecrashers and seasoned visitors. Hopefully you'll all make it in the not too distant future. We are so lucky to live here, and I appreciate it every morning when I open the bedroom curtains and see Caldey and the bay 😍.. doesn't matter what the weather's doing. In fact, can't really see much of it right now due to the mizzle! Always wonderful to see the sea..

Floonthewall · 08/07/2020 20:05

Well it turns out i live in the village with the blue clock. I clearly wonder around with my eyes closed! It's a lovely area with everything a family could want and a lovely community. We definately appreciated it for lockdown but it is a little sad to see the beaches so empty.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 08/07/2020 20:09

Love Pembrokeshire, though we're the next door neighbours in Ceredigion!

Peasweet · 08/07/2020 20:09

@Floonthewall ... ooh... a clue?

Beebeet · 08/07/2020 20:12

Is skomer Island open this season?

Pieceofpurplesky · 08/07/2020 20:13

I love Pembrokeshire. One day I will retire there. I really love Tenby. My parents went before I was born and took me every year as a child. We still go every year - have not missed many in 50 years .

Peasweet · 08/07/2020 20:30

@Beebeet. Sadly, not at the moment.. trips around the island to see the puffins starting soon, I've heard. Caldey not opening to visitors at all this season.. 😥

Tweacle · 08/07/2020 20:33

Think skomer is staying closed. Boat trips are back next week, but only around the islands not on.

mumonthehill · 08/07/2020 20:34

Another one living in glorious Pembs!! Although rather wet this evening.

Jellykat · 08/07/2020 20:36

Oo LostInWales hello!! Grin
Wasn't sure if you were still here as our paths haven't crossed for a while!

Hey Lollypop4, i bet we've met as i work in Newport, and have done for many years...but live a tiny bit further up the A487 Smile

LostInWales · 08/07/2020 21:13

Hullo Jelly I've never left just gave up my 'regular' nn a while back when it got busier on here and being a bit more circumspect seemed sensible. Had about 10 names now and whilst it's safer I do regret losing that sense of knowing people.

lachy if you love Vincent Price then you are practically a local. Best shop ever. When my parents are down we go for a day out!

And YY H'west Tesco refreshing at midnight, I've spent days and days in a row trying to get a slot but it's much better now, I'm waiting for it to get harder again like it always does when we have tourists though.

I'm obviously not as nice as Floon I've loved the beaches empty, or even better when things opened up and our amazing local police turned away people who had travelled and we just had 'village beach' for a couple of days in the beautiful hot weather. I hate it in August when it's packed and I can't see anyone I know but then I'm a grumpy old bugger.

Has everyone else round here felt like they have an amazing community recently, the pulling together and checking on vulnerable people, shopping and prescriptions delivered have been brill. The two town butchers just over the boarder have been astonishing changing how they work to look after everyone. If it weren't for a stupid bug going around it would give me a real glow.

eyestightshut · 08/07/2020 21:15

Hello all you lovely Pembs people!
I only discovered Pembrokeshire when I started dating DH. 20 years on and 2 kids later it is our favourite place in the world. Our DC (14 and 11) broke their own record of how early in the year they start talking about our summer holiday to Pembs. (Started in Jan, and we're not going until August. It's been a long year...Smile) They are cranking up in excitement level and I am starting to get my annual 'intrusive Pembrokeshire thoughts' - little snippets of our journey from the midlands, a flash of coastal path scenery, the smell of seaweed on a rock on a hot sunny day...utterly distracting and I cannot WAIT to get back again!!! B

LostInWales · 08/07/2020 21:15

LadyMonica I will wave at your beautiful county from across the river as I brush my teeth at the bathroom window later!

Jellykat · 08/07/2020 21:52

LostInWales Yes to sitting in the queue at midnight for a Tesco slot!
Dreading if/when 'Silly season' kicks in.. not sure it's going to be anything near a normal silly season mind, am hearing Self catering lets are inundated, but B&Bs are having cancellations left right and centre.

I know which Butchers you speak of, they did an amazing job i heard! during peak lockdown we got deliveries from Crymych which was a godsend.

I have to say, being a bit more north Pembs, I always feel we arnt overly inundated with tourist here, yes some days the beaches are busy but not overcrowded.
I hope everyone enjoys their visits this year, and the weather is better than the last few days..., total down pour!!

The rain just in the last hour Shock!

I think I'm spoiled by living here, remember when town was grubby and no one had heard of us, it's got a lot busier in recent years but it's certainly not Tenby.

If lockdown's been good for anything though the fact that I could order before 10am and have a charming young man in a white coat deliver local gin/crab/meat/bread and fruit and veg (even loo roll although I don't think that was reared within 10 miles Grin) same day has to be it, it's been my best thing ever.

Lolimax · 08/07/2020 22:37

Lollypop4 I bet you knew my parents! Frequented both pubs! Often.

Lollypop4 · 08/07/2020 22:46

Can't believe how much rain!!! nuts!

We dont have a butcher in Fishguard anymore, my partner uses the one in Newport ( for his pub)they are brillant, provides so much

My DSs both went to Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi.. DS1 did really well and enjoyed his time there, but the head had changed by the time DS2 went, and tbh it was a bloody nightmare for us both! < shudders >

Polyethyl · 09/07/2020 17:38

My Mum was born in Cardigan. My late grandmother had a cottage in Fishguard, which we now rent out. (Yes, it has back to back bookings from Saturday.) My cousin still lives in Nevern. And I got married in the tiny church on Strumble head, where an ancestor had been the vicar at the time of the French Invasion.
But I was born and raised in London, so my DH mocks me when I describe myself as half Welsh.
Pembrokeshire is pure heaven.
I have persuaded so many colleagues to holiday in Wales, over the years. I sing its praises.
