You are literally on the border line, the bottom Roundabout, then near where the strawberry van parks up in summer? that is the first sign for Pembs!

I am at the other end of the M4 but my spiritual home is Tenby!
Missed the LCW a lot last weekend. Sad

poorbuthappy · 07/07/2020 23:40

The other end of the welsh M4 i mean. Not past Junc 24!!! 😆😆

Lollypop4 · 08/07/2020 00:12

@mulberrybag

I grew up in Fishguard. Moved away when I was early twenties and still pine for the place. It definitely is 'home' to me. I always feel too sad to visit because I don't want to feel homesick afterwards Confused
Im from Dinas, but live nr Fishguard now!

@LostInWales

Hello, I've 'spoken' to JellyKat before. There's a handful of us up here in the north of the county. Although there aren't exactly tonnes of people round here are there so probably not that many MNers. Not come across anyone with children in the same secondary as mine yet.
I bet I can guess! Depending how far North you are!😊

I can see Pembrokeshire from where I live!
Visit often, long weekends in the caravan. Beautiful place, wonderful coast.
There was a lovely programme on telly a few days ago: a wild year in Pembrokeshire, narrated by Toby Jones.

Lollypop4 · 08/07/2020 01:19

@MsAnnThropic

I live nr Fishguard now, grew up in Dinas!

You people who managed to stay in Pembs are making me homesick.

I lived in Goodwick until I was 6, actually prefer that area to St Davids.

Is anyone here old enough to have been born in St Thomas's hospital rather than Withybush?

Lollypop4 · 08/07/2020 07:07

@MinnieMountain,,
My partner has one of the pubs in Goodwick now, My mother was born in St Thomas and is from Goodwick too

I'm from the Herbrandston area so right below the landsker line. It is lovely living here.

Sophiesdog2020 · 08/07/2020 07:25

Badassmama My spiritual home been going at least annually since I was 6 so that’s 28 years

Ha, my DH and family can beat that - they started going to a small caravan site Nr St David’s when he was a baby, and still go each summer, he has just turned 56! He also calls it his spiritual home.

His parents go for a month or so, he normally takes the kids for Aug BH week (I sometimes go for part of week), his sister also goes with her family for a week or 2.

We normally have our main holiday abroad (Pembs is nice but France etc get better weather) but this year are going 🤞 for first 2 weeks in August, as our main holiday.

He says it’s not a holiday but a pilgrimage and wants his ashes scattered on the little beach that is 5 mins walk from the site.

The kids are following suit, both are young adults but desperate to get there in August, so it looks like the family tradition will carry on into next generation 😂😂

Lollypop4 · 08/07/2020 07:33

I hope all of you returning soon have a great time here this year...,

Hi OP, I lived in garden city Chepstow for 5 years, before I moved back to Milford, in 2017, small world!

Agree with people about concerns of tourist influx this weekend. A few weeks ago (really hot weather at end of June), we were going to broad haven to walk dog, but could see how busy it was on the road down, so broke the 5 mile rule and carried on to nolton, been sticking to sandy haven ever since for my beach fix.

Badassmama · 08/07/2020 09:00

@Peasweet Originally planned to be there for my birthday in a couple of weeks but that went a bit out the window- we’re desperate to but also, don’t want to take the piss! I’d imagine it’s painful for anywhere with a big tourist industry atm as you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t. Hoping we can get down later in the year, it’s beautiful in any season, we were there for last Christmas with my sister and family too and it was epic- lads loved the Boxing Day swim!
My sister and I both plan to move down when we can afford to/find work to the same level we are now.

Badassmama · 08/07/2020 09:04

@Sophiesdog2020 that’s the thing, the Hiraeth for Pembrokeshire is strong! We’re north Wales by blood and lived there many years after our family left London, but no where has ever felt as much like home :)

LostInWales · 08/07/2020 10:23

LollyPop we are Actual North Pembs as opposed to those who call Fishguard 'north'. The forgotten end of the county. I can actually see the fabled covid free uplands of Ceredigion from my bathroom window. So no, not hard to guess the school as it's the only one!

OohKittens · 08/07/2020 10:48

@tinkletilt my children go to school in Milford Smile
