Bit of a random post..
I Just commented on another thread and was so pleased to see a few MN from this area! Im a bit surprised tbh, I'm not sure why haha.
I wonder how many on MN do live in Pembrokeshire?!

That's interesting @LostInWales. I've always considered roughly north of the Landsker Line as being North Pembs.
Where do you count Fishguard as being?

Lollypop4 · 08/07/2020 13:01

@tinkletilt

Hi OP, I lived in garden city Chepstow for 5 years, before I moved back to Milford, in 2017, small world!

Agree with people about concerns of tourist influx this weekend. A few weeks ago (really hot weather at end of June), we were going to broad haven to walk dog, but could see how busy it was on the road down, so broke the 5 mile rule and carried on to nolton, been sticking to sandy haven ever since for my beach fix.

Ahh I have a friend in Garden city, I lived in Devauden. Visit a few times a year still as have friends still there!

I also would have counted fishguard as north. I had a friend in college from goodwick and she spoke which a much stronger welsh accent than the Milford area. My nan was from Herbrandston (which she pronounced harbason and she referred to as down country) and she sounded more cornish!

Lollypop4 · 08/07/2020 13:09

I know Fishguard is more middle but I always class it North onward really, we dont get as many tourists here, not in comparrison to Tenby , St Davids, Briad Haven ,Solva, New gale.
Our favourite beach haunts are the 2 in Dinas and Newport, practically grew up on the Dinas beaches whenever it was dry enough, as lived a few mins away. Now, I feel so lucky that my DC can do the same.

I'm in the Milford Haven area.

LolaVsPowerman · 08/07/2020 13:19

🙋‍♀️Hello Pembs! I grew up just over the border in Ceredigion, lived between Haverfordwest and Solva for a few years before moving back this way.

Lolimax · 08/07/2020 13:25

My parents lived in Newport for years. After they died I missed the area so much we now have a static caravan in Llangranog. I live further East but still in Wales.

Kaleidoscope93 · 08/07/2020 13:35

I'm from Pembs and work there but live just across the border in Carmarthenshire😁

itshappened · 08/07/2020 14:05

I didn't grow up in Wales but half of my family are from goodwick and Fishguard. Strumble head is a very special place for us. It's changed an awful lot since I was a child though!

Beebeet · 08/07/2020 14:12

I lived in Haverfordwest for a few years, absolutely beautiful. If I didn't have family over the bridge that I wouldn't have been too far from i would definitely have wanted to stay.

BabyG2004 · 08/07/2020 14:18

I was born in Caerphilly but moved to Neyland, Pembs aged 12yrs old - I moved to London when is was 19 but my best years were spent in Neyland and I still consider it 'home'. My mother still lives there and I plan to visit her this weekend :-) Love Pembrokeshire - it is beautiful and it will always have my heart.xx

MsMartini · 08/07/2020 14:28

Oooh hello! I am a Londoner but my df was from Tenby and we went every holiday there as a child and usually return to Pembs every summer now. I've connections with Fishguard too. Love the Dinas beaches.

LostInWales · 08/07/2020 14:34

We still class Fisguard as north really it just tickles us when it's quite south from us! Sometimes it just feels like the county stops at that point and we miss out on things, certainly when the DCs were in primary school all the trips were an epic bus journey away (school TAs train the children the minute they start derbyn to believe that if they sit on newspaper you can't get car sick and distribute sheets of it at the start of every journey Grin).

snowspider · 08/07/2020 14:38

Yes south here, rural but pretty near the coast.

MinnieMountain · 08/07/2020 15:44

@Lollypop4 I still have cousins in Goodwick.

I love the fact that it gets wilder the further north you go. DF now lives near Tenby, which just feels wrong.

We're taking DS to Whitesands for 2 weeks in August. We go every year now. DH spent his childhood holidays near St Davids, so he's easily persuaded.

OohKittens · 08/07/2020 16:06

@MinnieMountain whitesands is one of my favourites because of the dog ban Blush. My whole childhood was spent crabbing on the board down sandy haven.

SecretSquirreI · 08/07/2020 16:50

You lucky ducks.

Little Haven (and Broad Haven and the cove in between) is one of my favourite places on Earth.

Hoping we can have our annual visit in a couple of weeks.

SecretSquirreI · 08/07/2020 16:51

Although been trying to book a slot for delivery from Tesco Haverfordwest for our arrival day as we normally do and no luck yet.

Lollypop4 · 08/07/2020 17:09

@SecretSquirreI

Although been trying to book a slot for delivery from Tesco Haverfordwest for our arrival day as we normally do and no luck yet.
They tend to release the extra slots at midnight for hwest, there is also click and collect available and Hwest morrisons now do delivery too, as do asda (pembroke ) too, hope that helps

@HPLikecraft it was a great programme, but I may be slightly biased as my nephew did some of the filming.. ☺️
@Badassmama hope you can get down soon. We will be welcoming considerate visitors like you and your families. Where do you stay, if it's not too nosy to ask? Don't worry if you don't want to say! 😁

Badassmama · 08/07/2020 17:25

@Peasweet ahh that actually means so much thank you! We usually stay wherever we can! My parents loved st. Florence but since we lost them we mainly try to get into Tenby town and then use it as a base. We’ve explored all over the county, favourite beach is Skrinkle haven but I doubt we’ll be making it down on there for a couple of years with the baby - this is me and my husband on our honeymoon last year (7 months pregnant!), just had to go and look at that view! Go through Fbm usually- they’re so nice in there :)

Pembrokeshire!
MillieMoodle · 08/07/2020 17:53

I hope you don't mind me gatecrashing but Pembrokeshire is my favourite place in the world, I wish I lived there.

My great auntie lived just outside Tenby for donkeys years, she and my grandma grew up in Carmarthen and I've spent many a happy family holiday near Tenby. My parents have a house just outside Tenby and we have other relatives there too, so we are hoping to be able to stay for a week in August. My DC love it as much as I do.

Freefalling123 · 08/07/2020 18:01

My favourite place in the world too, and I want to live there as soon as kids have flown the nest.

Used to go every year since I was a baby, and go every year still, even if only for a couple of days - the new premier inn in Tenby has been a godsend!

My favourite beaches are Barafundle (always known as Bundle to me as a child), Newgale and West Angle for its amazing rock pools and ‘secret’ cove. But everywhere is beautiful there.

lachy · 08/07/2020 18:46

I'm gatecrashing the thread too. Pembrokeshire has a special place in my heart. I love the whole place, Fishguard, Strumble Head, St David's, Narberth, Tenby.

(I especially love Vincent Davies...)

Hoping to go very soon and we're hoping that one day, we'll be retiring to our favourite place.

OlivetheTree · 08/07/2020 19:00

@UltimateWednesday unless Pembs is full of blue clocks I know where you mean! I went on holiday there every year as a child and now go there again with my kids. Love it so much.
