How tall is your 14 year old son?

millysmoo · 04/07/2020 15:07

My son is 6ft 2, 15 stone and has size 12 feet. He towers over me, his dad and siblings.

I’m 5ft 6 and his dad 5ft 9, so pretty average really. The only other tall relative is his grandad who is also 6ft 2. Has anyone else had this, and what height did they end up?

I'm 5'10 and my three sons had all just about overtaken me by 14.

As adults they are 6'3, 6'2 and 6'. We are a tall family in general, though.

phoenixearthworm · 04/07/2020 15:16

They are very overweight at 15 stone and 6 foot 2, I'd be more concerned about their weight than their height - he's 4 1/2 stone more than my 6 foot 15 year old.

BeTheHokeyMan · 04/07/2020 15:16

Ds is about 5’ 6” now at 14, with size 8 feet. He’s the same height as me, but his dad is 6ft, so I imagine he’s going to grow a bit more yet.

MrsVeryTired · 04/07/2020 15:19

I would also be more concerned about his weight.

DS was about 5ft 10 at 14, size 10 feet, don't know his weight but slim.

EnglishRose1320 · 04/07/2020 15:20

Ds is about 5'10/5'11 ish now at 14, but he's not even 9 stone, he's a bit of a bean pole

ConnellWaldronsChain · 04/07/2020 15:20

We are the opposite

DH and I are both tall (6'4" and 5'9") but our 15yo DS is only about 5'7"

I'm hoping he still has more growing to do!

At 15 stone I'd be more worried about his weight/health than his height tbh

SingleHandSue · 04/07/2020 15:20

My 14yo DS is 5’10, 10st with size 11 feet.

He’s growing very quickly at the moment, I fully expect him to be take over his 6’1 18yo brother.

Juo · 04/07/2020 15:20

Both of mine were 6'2 by age 14 but weighed no more than 10 stone.
Now 22 an 24, one is now 6'4 and the other 6'3" but they are still only around 11 stone.

Aquamarine1029 · 04/07/2020 15:23

His height is no issue, his weight definitely is. My son was 6' at 14, and is now 6'4 and 12.5 stone at 23 years of age.

iklboo · 04/07/2020 15:23

About 5ft 6 but I'm only 5ft and DH is 5ft 10. Still plenty of grow in him. He's the tallest on my side of the family Grin

TheProvincialLady · 04/07/2020 15:26

Has your son always been so overweight? Overweight boys often hit puberty and their adult height younger than boys of a healthy weight.

I would be doing everything possible to get him to eat healthily and appropriately.

passthemustard · 04/07/2020 15:29

My DS 15 is about 5ft 6 same height as me. Very skinny.
His dad was 6ft. Muscular build. DS has always been small for his age but seems to growing very rapidly at the moment. I can't keep up with trousers long enough!

My DB was 6ft at 14 and now is 6ft 4.

ComeOnGordon · 04/07/2020 15:30

My son has been about 6’5/6’6 since he was 14 and weighs 90kg which is about 14.5 stones. He’s so broad shouldered that I can definitely see where he carries that weight. Thankfully he seems to have stopped growing altho it’s difficult to tell up there 😂

KittyHawke80 · 04/07/2020 15:31

Let's cool it a bit on the soooo overweight chat. Is he athletic? Pretty much everyone who has ever locked for the London Irish is about 6 ft 3 ins and 15 stones.

millysmoo · 04/07/2020 15:38

Thanks all. It’s interesting to hear about other boys his age. Genetics certainly are a strange thing!

To all those who pointed his weight out- yes we are aware that he is too heavy thank you and this is something that we are working on. He does lead an active lifestyle, playing many sports. He also has a decent diet- we are not junk feeders. Obviously there are reasons is he overweight but he is totally heading in the right direction.

Thanks kitty. He he is totally athletic. Is a really good rugby player. Obviously lapsed a bit during lockdown, I don’t doubt he’ll spring back into it though.

Never mind the height, 15st is very overweight.

millysmoo · 04/07/2020 15:43

That is some height ComeOnGordon!. Are you both tall too?

OP posts:
areyoubeingserviced · 04/07/2020 15:49

My ds is 5ft 10 and very skinny. He is taller than both my husband and I. He will probably grow a few more inches .

Chasingsquirrels · 04/07/2020 15:57

About the same as me, 5f7. Very skinny though. Has shot up loads in the last 6 months, seems to need new trousers monthly atm, good job he isn't going anywhere atm!

Ds1 was taller than me by 12 and had stopped growing by 13 (5ft 10 I think and shoe size 10) - I got him new shows for my wedding 4 years ago, they were the same size as his previous pair and he is still in the same size now. He was never skinny in the way ds2 is, but has muscled up, particularly his upper body, partly due to archery and partly age.

Chasingsquirrels · 04/07/2020 15:58

Their dad is slightly smaller than me.

CMOTDibbler · 04/07/2020 15:59

Mine is only just 14, 6'2 and 60kg. Size 9 feet. I think he has another 3-4" to go

BlessYourCottonSocks · 04/07/2020 16:04

DS (15) is 6ft 1" with size 11 feet and very skinny. I'm 5ft 6" I think.

My DDad is 86 and is 6ft 4" - which was massive when he was young in the 1950s. DH is 6ft 2 and has size 13 feet which is a nightmare. He has a sister who is 6ft 1" and our neice is 6ft 2". Nephew is 6ft 7".

I suspect DS may still have some growing to do. It's his ruddy feet that are a pain, to be honest. Shoes/trainers/football boots are a nightmare to get (as I guess you know).

ChaoticCatling · 04/07/2020 16:07

My 14 year old is 5ft 2, under 7 stone, and has size 6 feet. He is meant to end up about 5ft 10.
