Name changed as this is outing, but I'd really like to know what you think about this property and the way it's being marketed please.

I'd view but wouldn't be thinking this is THE ONE.

The exterior is 😍😍😍
But the interior is a bit characterless in comparison 😖

TooTiredTodayOk · 02/07/2020 22:11

I'd probably look at it depending on what else is available in that price range in the area.

It needs a lot of work, for starters the kitchen is tiny for the size of the house so I'd want to knock walls down, it needs new bathrooms, and I'm not a fan of sloped ceilings in the bedrooms of dormers.

woodlandwalker · 02/07/2020 22:11

The house looks lovely from outside but seems a little unbalanced with a lot of reception rooms compared with the kitchen, which is not very big and number/size of bedrooms. The cupboards in the dining area look like fitted wardrobes rather than dining furniture.

mynameiscalypso · 02/07/2020 22:11

I'd want to refurb a lot of it - especially the kitchen but quite a lot of the other rooms too - so I'd only view it if the price gave me enough space to do that.

morriseysquif · 02/07/2020 22:12

I would re-arrange the sitting room, looks a bit like a care home but apart from that, it is lovely! It is quite a lot for only 3 bedrooms though.

treeeeemendous · 02/07/2020 22:12

Its a lovely house and I would go and view it from those photos. Although I don't know the area so no idea about price but seems very reasonable to me! However in all honesty the whole house is quite dated. I would want to replace kitchen and both bathrooms plus change flooring/fireplaces. So I would question if price reflects what needs doing.

Mylittlepony374 · 02/07/2020 22:12

I wouldn't view because kitchen looks tiny, particularly in comparison to other rooms. Can you take a different photo to make it look larger? Also, too many pictures of rooms that don't seem to have a function (? Is that a playroom?). I'd put fewer photos up or make sure the rooms clearly have a function. Also get rid of first bathroom photo.

The curtains in the bathrooms put me off. Other than that, lovely house with massive potential.

SeasonallySnowyPeasant · 02/07/2020 22:14

I love your bookcase and I’m very envious of your lovely outdoor space! If I was looking for a house in that bracket then I probably wouldn’t view it but that’s down to location (not near a station, too far to BStE and too near a main road for the DC to be safely independent) rather than the house itself.

The layout is a bit odd, especially having the bath in the en-suite rather than in the family bathroom. It’s a decent size though and has oodles of potential.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 02/07/2020 22:14

No because needs a new bathroom and kitchen- bit soulless with cheap looking laminate. Garden amazing!!!! But not enough pull inside for me.

DerbyshireGirly · 02/07/2020 22:15

No. It's a large house but the kitchen is tiny and the ground floor seems disproportionately bigger than upstairs. It's old enough to be dated but not old enough to have any character. I don't like how the dining room is across the hall from the kitchen. The bathroom would need totally redoing. And I'm used to Midlands house prices so it seems very overpriced.

Mamia15 · 02/07/2020 22:15

Only if the price reflects the fact that a lot of work is needed - kitchen too small, one of the bathrooms needed upgrading too and there are no walk in showers. The dining room looks strange with the wall of cupboards on one side.

Attractive exterior and gorgeous gardens though.

Parker231 · 02/07/2020 22:15

Probably not as it would cost too much to turn into the home we would want.

RJnomore1 · 02/07/2020 22:16

House and garden are lovely.

Then you go inside.

It’s very very dated and manages to be twee and characterless at the same time.

I’d be mentally adding at least £50k to do something with that interior as I walked round. Probably more. Kitchen in particular is disappointing. Bedrooms are poky and I don’t think there’s much storage?

RHRA · 02/07/2020 22:16

It shouldn’t be marketed as a 3 bed house, that may be putting potential buyers off; 4/5 more accurate.

EasilyDelighted · 02/07/2020 22:16

I wouldn't view it, no. A lot of the rooms look to be awkward shapes, especially bedrooms with dormers, they look small too. Also the kitchen is too small.

UncleMatthewsEntrenchingTool · 02/07/2020 22:16

Yes, but with major reservations about kitchen size

Iamtooknackeredtorun · 02/07/2020 22:17

I agree with a lot of PPs. The price would have to allow for the work which I would want to do. It's a beautiful property in a lovely location but the proportions are very strange. So the dining room and kitchen are too small but the living room looks far too big. So I would be looking to reconfigure and the price would have to reflect that. The bathroom is also small and I would probably want to change and update

I haven't looked but are similar sized properties much more expensive so that the work that might be needed is factored in to your asking price?

Miljea · 02/07/2020 22:18

It's 2/3 of a million and in Suffolk.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 02/07/2020 22:18

If I was looking to move, I would definitely. The kitchen does seem quite small but that's only in comparison to the rest of the house. The house and kitchen don't match up, IYSWIM. Id expect there to be a huge cooking island in the middle. It wouldn't put me off though. It's not one of those kitchens were you're arse is banging against the washing machine as you turnaround to put something or take some thing out of the oven.

EnglishRain · 02/07/2020 22:18

I'm local and think it's overpriced for what it is. We have so many beautiful period properties round here, and this house is kind of modern but not really what I think people are looking for at the minute. A lot of people won't want 1.7 acres to maintain and only three beds.

ShowOfHands · 02/07/2020 22:18

No because it's not my cup of tea at all. I like character. But there's nothing objectively wrong with it.

Letthemysterybe · 02/07/2020 22:18

It depends on what else there was available. That much garden for that price would be amazing in my area. But the house itself needs much work. And upstairs looks a bit pokey.

SillyCow6 · 02/07/2020 22:18

Id view it with the potential to turn it into a beautiful house. The garden is a good size but the interior isnt selling it to me. Id be going into it considering how much Id want to spend to pretty it up, and while you'd have the possibility of decorating in any house, every room here needs some love to bring it to life
